Chevrolet Sonic Discount Offers Cash Plus 0 Percent APR In January 2020

A new Chevrolet Sonic discount offers both a cashback rebate plus interest-free financing on all 2019 models during the first month of 2020. However, not all buyers will qualify for the combined offer. Other incentives include $1,500 off all 2019 Sonic hatch (5-door) models, and $1,000 off all 2020 Sonic hatch (5-door) models.

Interested parties should know that this month’s offer is far less generous than the $4,000-plus discount in December 2019 as well as November’s 20 percent discount offer.

The Incentives

Nationwide Chevrolet Sonic discount offers in January 2020 are as follows:

  • 2019 Sonic Hatch (5-door): $1,500 customer cash + $1,000 bonus cash = $2,500 total discount
    • To qualify for the Bonus Cash incentive, buyers must be GM Cardmembers as of January 2nd, 2020.
  • 2019 Sonic: 0 percent APR for 60 months + $1,000 bonus cash for well-qualified buyers who borrow from GM Financial
    • To qualify for the bonus cash incentive, buyers must be GM Cardmembers as of January 2nd, 2020.
  • 2020 Sonic Hatch: $1,000 customer cash + $1,000 bonus cash = $2,000 total discount
    • To qualify for the Bonus Cash incentive, buyers must be GM Cardmembers as of January 2nd, 2020.

To clarify, the $1,000 bonus cash incentive can be combined with lease or purchase Chevrolet Sonic discount offers, as shown above. Additionally, all of the above offers will run through February 3rd, 2020 except for the bonus cash offer, which will remain valid through March 2nd, 2020.

For reference, here are the applicable 2019 and 2020 Sonic trim levels and their corresponding starting MSRPs, which include the $875 destination freight charge (note that pricing has remained the same for 2020):

  • Sedan
    • LS – $16,295
    • LT – $18,795
    • Premier – $20,895
  • 5-Door (Hatch)

About Chevrolet Sonic

The Chevrolet Sonic is a subcompact family of vehicles that include a four-door sedan and five-door hatchback. Having replaced the Aveo in the Chevrolet lineup, the Sonic is currently Chevrolet's second-smallest car, slotting above the Chevrolet Spark city car but below the compact Chevrolet Cruze, midsize Chevrolet Malibu and full-size Chevrolet Impala.

The current model was introduced for the 2012 model year and represents the first generation of the Sonic nameplate. The model rides on the GM Gamma platform shared with the Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore.

The Sonic was given a midcycle refresh for the 2017 model year. The 2018 Chevy Sonic represents the sixth model year of the first-generation Sonic. The vehicle remains fairly competitive in its segment and the 2018 model year brings a handful of changes, including a new exterior color, a change to the Sun and Sound Package, and the standardization of the seven-inch diagonal color touchscreen.

For the 2019 model year, the Sonic gained one new exterior color (while losing two other colors), the removal of the base 1.8L naturally-aspirated Ecotec engine, and several other minor equipment-level changes.

The Sonic is assembled at the following plants:

  • GM Lake Orion plant in Orion Township, Michigan, USA operated by GM USA supplying United States and Canada
  • GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea operated by GM Korea supplying Korea (previously supplied Holden Barina for Australia and New Zealand)
  • GM Cairo plant in Egypt operated by GM Egypt (plant idled)
  • GM Hanoi plant in Vietnam operated by GM Vietnam (plant sold and no longer producing GM models)

A March 2017 rumor stated that GM would discontinue the Sonic as soon as 2018. As of this writing, it's unclear whether or not the nameplate will see a second generation. In November 2018, General Motors announced that it will discontinue the Chevrolet Cruze, along with five other passengers cars. Though the Sonic was not on that list, the model was discontinued in Canada. The move leaves the United States and South Korea as the only two markets where the model is currently available.

    1. Gone from Canada’s all of 2019 ,it was once a fairly good seller against the imports originally. It goes nowhere on the sales chart when you don’t have design upgrades every 3-4 years and only a nice nose job once in 7-8 year cycles doesn’t hack it anymore against Kia or Hyundai ,so it’s gone and quickly forgotten, unfortunately .We owned one when it was originally released for sale it was just mediocre okay in looks and performance ,so another bites the dust from inaction by GM Detroit managers who probably never ever drove one !
