After rebooting its brand image and launching four all-new models in 2019, Baojun prepares to continue its aggressive product offensive over the course of 2020. General Motors’ emerging brand in China has just announced the introduction of six all-new models this year, covering several market segments.
Although Baojun executives refrained from offering details about their future products and their launch schedule, we know that the first of these six models to go on sale in 2020 are the recently presented E300 electric minicar and the large RS-7 crossover of which images leaked in November. The latter’s official reveal should occur in Q1 2020.
As for the four remaining vehicles in Baojun’s product plan for 2020, our sources confirmed some revealing clues about what we can expect. First, we learned that the brand is preparing a new compact-sized sedan with a design similar to that of the new Baojun RC-6 – the automaker’s first midsize car characterized by its elevated ground clearance and striking liftback coupe styling.
This model will be the second member of the Baojun RC range, as C means car and is reserved for future hatchbacks and sedans, according to the brand’s nomenclature scheme. As such, the next compact sedan could use the RC-5 nameplate.
Our sources also informed us that another of the cut-diamond brand’s models to be unveiled this year is a new MPV – which will be the second RM vehicle after the compact-sized Baojun RM-5. One of the two remaining models will be an additional New Energy Vehicle like the E300, which could arrive before the end of the year.
In addition, Baojun’s representatives said they will introduce minor changes to four models of their base range (which wear the horse logo) for a total of 10 product launches in 2020. As every year, the brand is expected to divulge more information about future products during the next “Baojun Night” event to be held on the eve of the 2020 Beijing International Auto Show in April.
