The 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor will feature an available integrated winch, joining the Ram Power Wagon in offering the convenient factory accessory.
The Super Duty Tremor winch is supplied by well-known manufacturer Warn and is rated at 12,000 pounds. It will be offered as either a factory option or dealer-installed after-sale accessory for both the gas and diesel-powered Super Duty pickups with the available Tremor package. A rival to the GMC Sierra 2500HD AT4 and aforementioned Ram Power Wagon, the Super Duty Tremor features a two-inch front end lift, shorter front air dam, longer axle breather hoses and a number of protective underbody skid plates.
“We developed this unique winch in cooperation with Warn specifically to meet Built Ford Tough truck standards for our new F-Series Super Duty,” said Ford truck personalization manager, Ron Meredith. “Having a winch specially designed to our Built Ford Tough standards gives our hard-working Super Duty customers yet another tool to extend this truck’s capabilities whether at work or on the trail.”
The winch is neatly integrated into the Super Duty’s steel bumper, keeping the truck’s efficiency in check by ensuring the airflow around the vehicle remains unaffected. This also helps with crash safety and provides some additional clearance to the bumper versus a traditional aftermarket winch. As for the winch itself, Ford says “customers who select the winch can rely on high-tensile strength, abrasion-resistant synthetic cable to drag almost any rig out of the muck or over an obstacle, or to move trail-clogging barricades like fallen trees.”
The winch will add $3,000 to the price of a standard Super Duty Tremor. It also includes a wireless remote control, along with a plug in for a wired winch remote control. The Tremor Off-Road Package is available for the F-250 and F-2350 with the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum trim levels. It can also be ordered with the automaker’s 7.3L gas V8 or 6.7L Power Stroke diesel V8.
While the winch is a rather pricey $3,000 option on the Ford Super Duty Tremor, it comes standard on the Ram Power Wagon. The winch found on the Ram is likely the same as the one on the Super Duty winch, as it is also supplied by Warn and features an identical 12,000 pound tow rating. The GMC Sierra 2500HD AT4 and 3500HD AT4 do not offer a winch from the factory, though considering how close the truck war between the Detroit Big Three usually is, we would not be surprised if it offered such an option in the future.
