Fast And Furious fans have a lot to be excited about at the moment, with the ninth film in the long-running series currently under development and a new Fast and Furious animated show also set to be released soon.
That’s not all Universal Pictures has planned for its wildly popular action movie franchise, though. The company has enlisted the help of Slightly Mad Studios to produce a new Fast and Furious video game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with a new trailer for the game being shown at The Game Awards this week.
Starring front-and-center in the game trailer is a 1969 Yenko Camaro. The iconic muscle car is seen running from police at the beginning of the trailer and is later shown racing against a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo and a handful of other cars. A second-generation Pontiac Firebird is also shown at one point in the brief 90-second trailer.
The new game, dubbed Fast And Furious Crossroads, will feature voice acting from Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, who play Dom Toretto and Letty Ortiz in the film series. Tyrese Gibson will also feature in the game, reprising his long-running Fast And Furious role of Roman Pearce.
It appears as though the game will follow a script and story similar to the latest Fast And Furious movies, though Slightly Mad Studios hasn’t provided very much information on its contents. A dedicated website for the game says it will serve as “an epic new chapter in the Fast & Furious saga,” and will feature “high-speed heists, cinematic nonstop action, and adrenaline-fueled stunts in exotic locations.” The site also says “players will travel from the streets of exotic locales to the murky world of international espionage, pulling off high-speed heists and stunts as they battle to take down a new threat.”
Fast And Furious Crossroads will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in May of 2020 – just ahead of Fast And Furious 9’s theatrical debut on May 22nd. We’ll bring you more information on the game between now and its release next spring, but for the time being, be sure to check out the trailer embedded just below.
