General Motors has announced the launch of the refreshed 2020 Cadillac XT5 in the Russian market, as part of the brand’s plant to expand its business operations in the country. The new-and-improved midsize crossover will arrive in Cadillac dealerships in early 2020.
In fact, Cadillac has already started accepting orders for the 2020 XT5 in Russia. Two trim levels are available – Premium Luxury and Sport, allowing the crossover to attract two distinct customer profiles. For the moment, the brand has chosen not to follow its recently introduced Cadillac Y trim-level strategy, as there is no base Luxury variant of the Russian-market XT5.
As such, the 2020 Cadillac XT5 Premium Luxury emphasizes sophistication and elegance, while the Sport version provides a more dynamic design in addition to different suspension tuning, thereby catering to buyers who desire an SUV with a sportier character.
From a design standpoint, the two trim levels boast several key distinctions, both inside and out. The Cadillac XT5 Premium Luxury features bright decorative trim on the front grille and around the body, while the XT5 Sport gets dark-finish accenting instead.
The refreshed, Russian-market Cadillac XT5 will be equipped exclusively with the turbocharged, 2.0-liter LSY four-cylinder, which develops 237 horsepower as well as 258 pound-feet of torque from 1,500 rpm. The engine is mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift technology. GM says that this powertrain is well-suited to the country’s needs, with good fuel efficiency and a high level of refinement.
The updated 2020 Cadillac XT5 is expected to arrive in Russia during the first quarter of the 2020 calendar year, imported from the GM Spring Hill, Tennessee assembly plant. As we mentioned, order books are already open, with pricing starting at 2,990,000 rubles, or about $48,000 USD at current exchange rates. The XT5 can also be purchased through the Cadillac Finance program with a four-percent interest rate.

Power for Russia is reduced to 200 hp, which implies a lower tax rate for the owner per year. For XT6 it will be the same.
The XT5’s exterior is showing it’s age in a big way.
The long front overhang/stubby tail is a weird look too. From the side, the profile seems like a cartoon car that hit the brakes really hard and the body is sliding/leaning forward. It reminds me of the cheaper “economy” GM cars from the 1980s.
