Toyota has just introduced the redesigned 2020 Toyota Highlander three-row SUV, slotting in a fresh entry between the midsize and full-size SUV segments. the GMC offers the most features and options.
Also as a buyer you have to factor in things like Rebate and incentives along with GM card money.
We bought a Denali with absolutely every option but the rear entertainment system and got $13K off.
That priced it under many other models.
Factoring value and bargains in the automotive sector needs to factor in the variables to really see what is a good deal. This is not like just ordering something off Amazon or buying from Target.
I’ll take the Toyota because it has a hybrid and offers japanese style Reliability and efficiency. Anyone who understands how engineers do things in japan would do the same.
Yes factor in ALL the variables,
Make sure all the GM incentives and rebates offered equal up to the cost of having no customer support.
Then also take into consideration, the GM recalls, the GM class action law suits, and the GM known faulty parts.
Also this is like buying from Amazon in one way. Like Amazon GM too will not help you after the purchase.
But how Amazon and Target are better than this !!!!!!
You simply return your known faulty purchase to Amazon and Target for a full refund, no questions asked !!
This is my opinion, but in my opinion there is a lot more cost involved in service and support than the sticker price at a GM dealership VS a Toyota dealership.
How long are you going to rant about this? Every thread you say the same stuff. Did GM kill your dog or something?
+1
Isaac,
Did I talk to you also, when I called GMs horrible customer support ?
I do not and have never worked for GM or any of its dealers or affiliates. I work in the hospitality business. I’m commenting on the fact that you spew the same drivel in every post. I think everyone who visits this site gets it. You don’t like GM customer service, why don’t you tattoo it on your forehead so we don’t have to keep hearing about it. If you have something meaningful to add it would be appreciated rather then the same old song and dance.
Isaac,
Could you point out please, what meaningful information you add here.
All I see is you putting down my opinion, and me putting down yours.
However I started with a meaningful comment.
That being that Toyota has long been seen by the MAJORITY as a automobile company with great service.
And in the last 10 years or so GM has been known as one of the worst automobile companies when it comes to service.
We shall see where the next 10 years goes.
But again, this is my opinion, and I truly appreciate yours.
Issac note the moaner rants on and on and on. The only hope is banishment.
Also note the fake votes that appear when ever the moaner is around. You will get down voted more than people who even read the story.
He, she or it thinks it matters but we know better. We know the pluses are real.
I could not care less about up or down votes here. I visit this site to gain insight on current and future GM products. I get tired reading the same rants from this guy.
Me too and many others.
Just posted the rating comment to point out the fake support.
Just want to make sure you get a level amount of insight, Isaac.
If you listen to C8.R for your insight its all the same, and you don’t need to go to this site for that.
I just level the playing field for you, you see C8.R too always says the same thing.
C8.R always points out his opinion on why GM is the greatest, even when he has had troubles with his own GM 8 speed junk transmission, but HE personally received GOOD GM support.
I DID NOT , I received HORRIBLE GM support !
His opinion, your opinion, my opinion.
Really, it is ridiculous to come on and make up stories because it didn’t work out for him. Obviously, he has some kind of mental issue that he is not able to suppress.
David,
You and scott3 I mean C8.R should get together and start a psychiatric hospital with all your endless diagnostic capabilities.
Any way David, if you would read all my posts you would really see me.
I am a real 40 year GM owner, and a loyal one at that, who was screwed over by a lying service manager at a dealership and got the normal runaround from the horrible customer support at GM.
Nothing is made up here by me.
Look at C8.R, changed his title from scott3 ( made up a new guy ) to cover up the fact that he himself had his 8 speed GM junk transmission replaced in his top of the class Denali Canyon.
If your talking ridiculous !
And you aren’t kidding anyone here, trying to convince a new customer that GM has a better or better backed product than Toyota.
But one more time, its your opinion and my opinion, and the ” stories I talk about are my personal experience with GM. They haven’t changed, same story, not new made up stories, like scott3 – C8.R.
But its your rite to see the world as you wish.
You have never dealt with Toyota then. Three different cities and there’s crappy Toyota dealerships at all. Broke window on back of two year old Siena. Took 8 days for part to be shipped from San fran. Only place it was stocked. Two different radiators went bad. Doors on van stopped working.
If you find a good dealership use them. There are very few.
Just ask by buddy who has a new Honda Accord that keeps retaining water in the doors. Honda says there is nothing wrong even if they slosh and fog up the windows inside the car.
He now has a lawyer trying to help him get out of the car.
Every company has their issues and problems. No cars are perfect and some dealers are better than others.
Endless rants here will change nothing,
Hay C8.R,
Eddiedi owned a Toyota minivan !!
Now must drive a GM or at least work at a GM dealership, so I less van sold.
I wonder if he replaced it with the new C8 Vette !
I will quit when GM gets customer support !
Its that simple.
I am sorry it hurts your GM employee feelings so, but for you GM employees its like trying to push a rope !
Its just like when I was talking to GM customer Support reps !
I felt the exact way you feel about me !
Great feeling isn’t it ?
Any way, here we go again with the GM onslaught of reps attacking one customer for a Faulty part that I paid for to have replaced.
Remember this started for a part I paid for and the dealer replaced that was faulty, not a free warranty claim.
I paid for the part that was no good and the dealer would not replace it with the new redesigned part that has now worked fine for 4 years.
How do you GM guys feel right now, getting frustrated yet ?
Want to call me more names, tell me I need professional help ?
It feels just like when I was talking to the GM employees that brought me to this stage.
Cheap, Cheap, GM over a $ 16.00 part, that I paid for once already, and it was new, not 5 years old when I wanted them to replace it. the part did not work from day one !
A new part !
Here we go again !
In my opinion.
Somehow I don’t think you deserve it. Obviously, your request is unreasonable and you think you are special for some reason.
Yep David, you don’t think I deserved it.
You and your fellow GM customer support reps.
But that’s OK I’m over it.
Yet here I am,
So.
Good choice for that $16.00 part.
Is that the same good decision by GM on that 2 cent spring in the ignition switch ?
Or the other endless recalls, class actions, and known faulty parts !
How about the good and cheap, cheap decision on the 2019 truck interiors ?
Or the 2.0T – * speed junk in the Cadillac CT6 ?
Just an endless amount of stuff the customer did not deserve, from your point of view.
O well my opinion and yours differ, again sorry it hurts you guys so .
They sure threw the ugly stick at the Highlander. The side rear hind quarters look as thought they acquired a big fat lip and looks like it belongs on another vehicle entirely. The best value is the vehicle that holds up out of warranty with a minimum of repairs and unnecessary trips to the dealer for non scheduled work. Sadly we all know who has a much better reputation for that!
Joe I agree,
Ugly and supported by Toyota !
But GM spends all their time trying to convince the customer that the GM product is better instead of just making a better product !
In my opinion.
I feel as if I am doing the GM buying public a service by pointing this out.
GM as a company has no customer support !!
The privately owned GM franchisee , is the only support that GM offers and GM can not tell the dealer to do anything !!
Remember that when you are looking at a GM warranty !
GM will NOT fix your vehicle !
But this is just my opinion based on what I was told by numerous GM employees !!
Alex when will the forum add a ignore feature to eliminate the hemorrhoids of the web?
This can not help you with advertising.
C8.R,
Are you sure it doesn’t help with advertising ?
Look at how many people read the articles with no comments.
Look at the number of people who jump in on the articles with the higher numbers of comments.
I haven’t been keeping track of that any more than I have been on the thumbs deal.
But you seem to be, so is there more traffic with me here or not ?
And I do NOT always say the same negative thing here, I love GM vehicles, and I tell everyone what part of each I love.
But unlike scott3 – C8.R, I do NOT love absolutely everything GM produces and will NOT tell you I do , like he does.
Moaner here,
C8.R, I didn’t understand what you meat about the fake votes, but when I looked, I did see I had 19 down votes for only 14 commenters.
I just thought it was random people reading the articles and not commenting.
But from now on I will pay closer attention.
Who is this Alan fellow ?
Does he run this site ?
I was going to be shunned by an Alex, for my all caps comments, never heard of an Alan.
O well C8.R, I thought you didn’t even read my comments any longer. Isn’t that what you wrote ?
Sorry my opinion bothers you so.
I just ignore yours, like GM customer service does the customer, you should try it, I bet there are some on here that can help you learn how.
Close your eyes and breath.
But just more opinion, the same as you, only mine is not taken from the GM canned statements as yours is.
I think Toyota maintains its buyers well with highlander. Last day watching some comparison of 3 raw suvs , traverse came second last . It was the most expensive SUV but lot of small things made it go down. All mostly boiled down to interior quality , cost cutting shows up in the car and they still charge a lot.
One of the big Miss in Traverse is the Hybrid version and eawd capability but GM will come with it only when BEV become standard and they will say people didn’t wanted the hybrid.
The good about the Traverse is its size and third raw. They can address as a running update and have a top class CUV.
watch from the 7.31 minutes .
The real completion for traverse or even all cuv sector is from Hyundai and Kia. The Hyundai palisade and Kia telluride are going to be homeruns. I already saw more numbers of them than traverse. You can see them also in that cars.com video
What I still find odd with Korean brands Hyundai/Kia, is that a lot of people who buy them probably don’t realize that their advertised 10-year warranty is only good for the original purchase owner, or an immediate family member.
David,
I’m not sure that’s not a good idea.
If you are incentivized to hand down a vehicle your offspring might continue to buy that brand.
Look at the opposite of that, GM’s approach. When GM doesn’t even honor their measly 36,000 mile warranty ( like on the 8 speed GM junk transmission, and all the class action lawsuits ) GM is not only forcing the loyal customer into a different brand, but the offspring most likely will not even give that worthless brand a shot !
But again, you won’t believe me, that’s fine, watch the Korean brands, just like we all watched the Japanese brands in years past as they just took more and more market share.
What did GM do back then ? The same thing they are doing now, instead of competing and making a better vehicle, GM just sends the marketing team out to try to convince you GM competes.
But again, just my opinion.
I am going to add to this GM VS Toyota story,
Ok you should know by now, I am a South Dakota boy. Growing up my and most of the rural families either drove Ford or Chevrolet – OK. So I look at today, just yester I saw a 3rd generation farmer at the bank, what was he driving, a Tacoma !, his brother drives a Tacoma, they have 4 Tacomas for their farm trucks. Everyone 10-20 years ago had an old GM truck or an old Ford, where I was mostly GM.
Now all I see mostly are Ram or Toyota, for the knock around trucks. Trouble is, now it has translated to the everyday vehicles. Even if I see these people drive a GM truck for good, their wives and sons and daughters are driving Lexus or Toyota. And we are talking people with money here, some of these farmers own 80 or more quarters of land that’s like $83,000,000.00 dollars worth, and they used to be 4 generations of GM. even my own sisters family are Ford now, my one uncles family is Ram, and Audi, my other uncle is Toyota, Audi, and Mercedes. GM is gone, just disappeared from the landscape. In the summer, we will go to a small town parade once in a while, every truck in the parade is either a Toyota or Ram. What the h3ll !!!!
Now I relies that there are more cows in SD than people, but the % of GM vehicles used to be the highest, by the people who knew reliability, longevity !
Not today, the same 4th and 5th generations still are instilled value, yet it is no longer a GM vehicle. You can see it !! you don’t need to look at some made up marketing JD Power fake data. Drive around and look, the people who have money to buy a vehicle, and want value, no longer drive GM.
And there are ALOT of GM vehicles on the road yet, sedans, Equinox, Traverse, and a hell of a lot of Suburban, But relies the Suburban is still one of the longest lasting GM vehicles on the road !
GM needs to fix this, and it will again trickle up, but the GM vehicles with like the 8 speed junk transmission, these very people don’t care what a GM rep tells them. They buy vehicles for value, and the GM vehicles of today have a lower value than the competition, like Toyota !!
And value comes from customer support !!! We service what we sell !!! We stand behind our product !!!!! We are in this together !!!! Loyalty goes both ways !!!!
Stuff like that, that is how we live here, THE TRUTH !!! And we usually find out the TRUTH for ourselves !!!! Not by what some marketer tries to tell us.
Just another true story of how GM is loosing the very people that matter the most !
I agree with you, The realty is value for a product. The value for a product can’t be defined like : we make cheap stuff and put msrp for say $50 but it costs only $25 to make and we ask people to give them deals so thay feels they got a deal and buy for $30 and we get $5 profit. Lot case people wont buy so they sell it end for $20. The other sell putting $30 in products and place it $40 as msrp. so most buy it for $40 itself. They make a profit of $10, better value and good reputation.
That extra $5 on a product to make it best product is what missing with GM.
Hyndai and Kia offers now a days good value for product. Toyota, Honda ,Lexust etc give good value for product. GM and Ford has to learn. People need to feel proud of the purchase. Not thinking they are doing a deal buy. The product should speak quality.
Unni,
Yep, and believe me, we are NOT the only two who see this happening.
Like I said, if I see this in SD, it’s not good. SD is about the last state to change anything.
But like I said, most vehicles here are the full-size, trucks and Suburban type stuff, but the Ram and Jeep stuff are just moving here like mad.
Remember I was saying my sisters husband and her kids are ford people now, used to all be GM.
At one time my sister and her husband had 3 Corvettes, drove to the Black Hills here in SD for the Vette rally. Now she has a purple Charger, and one of her sons has a Charger also.
It wouldn’t bother me so much but they switched because of customer support. It seems like when GM closed all those dealers the good servicing dealers closed and the good sales dealers stayed open. All the GM dealers that are still open were the dealers that people bought their new vehicles from, yet after the purchase, the dealers that closed, are the ones people took their vehicles to get worked on. And most where I live were just bought up by the large multi brand dealerships.
GM’s customer support just is not working like this, cheap, cost cutting at GM, then find out because of that, known faulty parts, but then after all that cheapness, horrible customer support to back all that cheapness up.
O well just my opinion again !
