Watch This 800-HP Electric Corvette Hit 210 MPH With Ease: Video

By now, we’ve told you all about the Genovation GXE, a battery-electric sports car based on the C7 Corvette chassis that produces a staggering 800 horsepower and 718 pound-feet of torque.

We’ve already seen Genovation itself test the top speed of its fully electric Corvette, but now the company has handed the car over to YouTube’s Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds to put the vehicle through its paces.

With standing-mile racer Johnny Bohmer behind the wheel, the Genovaton GXE hit a staggering 210 mph. We already knew the GXE was capable of this vision-blurring top speed, but to see it reach that velocity with ease in the hands of a driver that hasn’t spent a ton of time behind the wheel is a true testament to just how fast this fully electric Corvette really is.

Interestingly, the Genovation GXE retains the GM eight-speed automatic transmission. Most electric cars use a single-speed transmission, or sometimes a two-speed, as the torque delivery of electric motors means they do not really need gears for acceleration in the same sense an internal-combustion car might. The multi-speed transmission ensures the GXE has both a high top speed and ample acceleration with less trade-off between the two. Genovation will also build you a GXE with a seven-speed manual transmission, making it the only manual electric vehicle for purchase that we know of.

You have to be quite wealthy to actually purchase a Genovation GXE, though. Prices for this mad electric Corvette start at an eye-watering $750,000 and go up from there as you add options. However, if you want a 200-plus-mph electric sports car, your options are fairly limited, so we suppose Genovation has this corner of the market covered for the time being.

You can see the Genovation GXE in action in the video embedded below.

  1. Any idea how long the charge last or how many runs 210 runs a single charge?

    1. Range is roughly 160 miles. I can’t find any information on how many 210 mph runs you could do on a single charge.

      1. Thanks just asking as while a a Tesla is fast in the Quarter it only has a few runs in it. Also it gets slower with each run.

I figure the size of the Vette may restrict battery size.

    2. Obviously, long enough, and all it takes is ONE run to prove point of concept, as most do.

      1. Premature evacuation of power is not what anyone ever wants to endure

Anyone can go fast in a EV but not everyone can make it home. That is the difficult part.

  2. Like the old adage goes.. “given enough power even a brick will fly”; but what will be interesting to see in the next couple of years is how fast will the C8 Corvette be with 800 hp if 495 will take it to about 194 mph.
