As expected, custom trucks were out in full force at the 2019 SEMA Show this year, showing the goods with a wide variety of styling and performance upgrades, ranging from mild to wild. One of vehicles strutting their stuff on the show floor was the Chevrolet Silverado HD Z71 Sport Concept, which boasts a number of aesthetic changes to give the heavy-duty pickup extra visual pop. Now, sources familiar with the matter have informed GM Authority that the Silverado HD Z71 Sport Package concept will become a full-fledged production option for the 2021 model year.
That essentially makes the Chevrolet Silverado HD Z71 Sport Concept presented at the 2019 SEMA Show more or less a preview of things to come. However, we expect a number of features seen on the vehicle in Las Vegas to differ from the final package that will be offered from the factory.
The reasoning behind this assumption comes down to the fact that the spec sheet presented parallel to the Chevrolet Silverado HD Z71 Sport Concept in Vegas differs from what’s actually on the concept vehicle. As such, we think the spec sheet provides a “tip of the hand” with regard to the final production package.
Per Chevy’s official spec sheet, the Silverado HD Z71 Sport Package Concept includes the following content:
- Body-color Chevrolet grille bar with chrome inserts
- High-intensity LED headlamps
- Body-color front and rear bumper
- Body-color door handles
- Black skid plates, hood vents, belt molding, mirror caps and trailering mirrors
- Black Silverado and trim badging
- Black Chevrolet bowties
- Chevytec spray-on bedliner
- Black Chevrolet steering wheel bowtie
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Silverado HD Z71 Sport Concept that was physically at SEMA (the one pictured here) featured things like a black grille, black bumpers and black door handles, rather than the body-colored ones shown on Chevy’s spec spec sheet… so don’t be too surprised to see the production package to feature those elements in either body-color or black. As for the final name of the production Silverado HD Z71 Sport Package, it’s possible Chevrolet will change it up from the concept between now and the introduction of the 2021 model year. Luckily, we won’t have to wait long for the official info to drop, which should come in the next few months.

that 2021 silverado HD Z71 front end is the butt ugliest front end I’ve ever seen on a truck. It’s time to go back to the drawing board on that one. Way too much stacked up there.
