While most of the Chevrolet products we’ve seen at the 2019 SEMA Show thus far have been Corvettes and Camaros, sports coupes aren’t the only thing making headlines in Las Vegas.
The Chevrolet Silverado HD Z71 Sport Concept was also shown today, which General Motors says “puts an emphasis on heavy-duty personalization and adventure.” Of most importance here is the concept Z71 Sport Package, which likely may preview a production version of this same trim package. The Z71 Sport Package includes a body-color Chevrolet grille bar with chrome grille inserts, high-intensity LED headlamps, body-color front and rear bumpers, body-color door handles, black skid plates, black Silverado badging, black Chevrolet Bow Ties, a Chevytec spray-on bedliner, a black Chevrolet Bow Tie on the steering wheel, custom exterior graphics and off-road tires.
If you need a reminder, the standard Z71 Off-Road package includes an off-road tuned suspension with Rancho shocks, a metal underbody shield and electronic hill descent control. The concept Z71 Sport Package expands on the standard Z71 Off-Road package, adding more exterior styling features, black skid plates and some other goodies. Chevy says the concept Z71 package is a “bold expression of a heavy-duty truck that takes personalization and off-roading to a new level.” In other words, this package gives Silverado HD customers a little more choice when ticking boxes on their build sheet.
This particular concept is based around a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD with the 6.6-liter L8T V8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission. It also has the optional Trailer Package on it.

That’s what I’m talking about !!!
Very stout looking, my wife would love it. I guess I would have the privilege of filling it up at the gas pump for her, lol
Hope everyone has a great day ?
I love the 2020HD. But the front grill stack, not so much. Having one grill, two
headlamps and 2 lower body fog lights are more of a clean look to me. Nice to
offer a package like this. My choice if I was going this design route would be
a fold-out canvas tent, not nylon. A heavy-duty truck with thin, Walmart nylon
is a conflict in statement.
They keep talking about the Black Skid Plates…
Who cares what color the skid plates are?
They are underneath the truck and nobody sees them…..
You can often see it sticking out at the front end. The significance of it being black is that it’s color-coordinated with the blacked-out front fascia. If it were silver, for instance, the blacked-out appearance would be lost.
Alex,
If it’s called a skid plate, it gets used for the reason of it being a skid plate, what color is under the black ?
One of my trucks is 3500 HD Z71 4×4 crew, long bed, I believe just another alloy metal. Rather have same color scratches as the metal it’s made of ?
I’m not sure if it’s about appearance or function.
Have a productive day tomorrow ????
I so love that truck is nice and I’m a Chevy person that’s all I drive and If I could win $1000000 I would so buy that truck right now
Some people say we’re crazy …….
