GMC Middle East To Showcase 2020 Sierra Lineup At Dubai Motor Show

GMC Middle East has announced it will bring its 2020 Sierra lineup to the upcoming Dubai Motor Show in November – including the market-exclusive (and undeniably cool) GMC Sierra AT4 Regular Cab.

The Sierra AT4 Regular Cab, which debuted in the Middle East earlier this year, isn’t the only GMC Sierra model exclusive to the region. If Middle Eastern buyers find they don’t need the off-road equipment served up by the rugged AT4 trim, they can also get a two-door Sierra Elevation from their local dealership. Both the Sierra AT4 Regular Cab and Sierra Elevation Regular Cab will be on display in Dubai, along with the rest of the Sierra lineup.

“The Dubai International Motor Show is the ultimate event for automotive enthusiasts, this year the show is set to reach new heights and we are very excited to be able to contribute to it and give our loyal customers a sneak peek of the 2020 Sierra,” Danielle D’Souza, GMC’s Middle East brand boss, said in a statement. “For the first time ever, we are giving customers the chance to choose from six different versions that are fully customizable to suit their active lifestyles and needs.”

You may be wondering why Middle Eastern buyers are offered the GMC Sierra AT4 and Elevation in regular cab trim when they aren’t for sale in its home market of the United States. In addition to pickups being more specialized products in the region than they are in the US, GMC actually has a long-standing history in the Middle East with regard to off-road focused trucks. GMC entered the market 92 years ago with 4×4 and 6×6 trucks designed specifically for desert use and Kuwait’s only GMC dealer, the Mohammed Saleh and Reza Yousef Behbehani Company, is the world’s largest standalone GMC dealer in sales volume.

The Middle East is also the only market outside of North America where GMC products are sold. Local residfents even have a nickname for the vehicles, affectionately referring to them as “Jims.”

“We have enjoyed a long GMC legacy in this market, first entering it over 92 years ago with vehicles designed specifically for desert driving. This is why we are very excited to showcase some of our most popular GMC products to truck and automotive fans at the 2019 Dubai International Motor Show,” D’Souza added.

As we reported previously, GM has also decided to offer the Silverado Regular Cab in Trail Boss and RST trims in the region, giving Middle Eastern buyers the option between an off-road focused two-door GMC or Chevy.

The 2019 Dubai Motor Show will kick off on November 12, 2019.

  1. Shame they will build them in Mexico and ship them all the way to the Middle East, but not sell them in the U.S.

I know they didn’t sell a ton in the U.S., but a lot of people would love the chance to buy one and it would definitely help the sales numbers .

  2. This whole Middle East vs U.S. Truck story is mind blowing nonsense. Trucks are more “Specialized” in Mid-East?. Now I’ve heard it all. They get more choices and the same things are built in Mexico. Crazy stuff.

    1. I agree, they can make them in Mexico and ship them all the way to the Middle East….but they can’t (or won’t) sell them in the US….makes no sense at all.

Looks like to me any truck you sell makes you more money….and they could definitely sell these in the US.

  4. That’s way I have a Ford F150 2 door on order. Was a GM ‘r all my life , dumped the Traverse junker and bought an Escape . Selling my Silverado and getting the new F150 . Also the ATS v Caddy is leaving, very hard to sell though . That s a horror of a car. Biggest depreciation I ever experienced and so many drive line and CUE problems.
