Chevrolet Camaro Discount For Mustang Owners Grows To $3,000 In October 2019

In August, GM offered a $2,500 Chevrolet Camaro discount exclusively to Ford Mustang owners. It then did so again in September. Now, the Bow Tie brand is increasing the offer through the end of October 2019.

This Chevrolet Camaro discount is $500 more than the previous offers, for a total of $3,000 off any 2019 model for current Mustang owners. The incentive seems to be an attempt to increase Chevrolet Camaro sales, which fell 15 percent to 12,275 units in the third quarter of 2019. Camaro sales were also down in the Q2 2019 after a noteworthy rebound in sales during the first quarter of 2019. The performance places the Camaro in third place in its segment during each of the quarters.

Incentives

Nationwide Chevrolet Camaro discount offers in October 2019 are as follows:

  • For Ford Mustang Owners: $3,000 total cash allowance
    • Must be a current owner or lessee of a Ford Mustang for at least 30 days prior to purchase.
    • Not available with lease and some other offers.
  • For Everyone: $1,000 customer cash

For reference, here are the applicable 2019 Camaro trim levels and their corresponding starting MSRPs:

  • LS – $25,995
  • 1LT – $26,495
  • 2LT – $28,495
  • 3LT – $31,995
  • 1SS – $37,595
  • 2SS – $42,995
  • 1SE (ZL1) – $62,995

The $3,000 Chevrolet Camaro discount reduces the starting price of the 2019 model to $22,995, while lowering the starting price of the range-topping ZL1 model to $59,995.

Known as conquest incentives, discounts like the headline-making $3,000 discount seen here are not uncommon in the automotive industry, as they are meant to sway owners of other brands into buying a competing product.

About Chevrolet Camaro

The Chevrolet Camaro is a family of sports cars that includes a two-door coupe and two-door soft-top convertible as well as various performance variants such as SS, 1LE, ZL1 and ZL1 1LE. The legendary nameplate was first introduced in 1966 and went out of production in 2002, when the model was in its fourth generation. The Camaro was re-introduced in 2009 as an all-new fifth-generation model based on the GM Zeta platform.

The Camaro is currently Chevrolet's most affordable sports car, slotting below the Chevrolet Corvette. The current model was introduced for the 2016 model year and represents the sixth generation of the Camaro nameplate. The model rides on the GM Alpha platform shared with the Cadillac ATS and Cadillac CTS, though the majority of the architecture underpinning the Camaro are unique to it.

The 2018 Chevy Camaro represents the third model year of the sixth-gen Camaro that deleted the Camaro 50th Anniversary Edition and the Krypton Green exterior color, while adding the ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package. There's also an expanded availability of the SS 1LE Track Performance Package, which is now available on the 2SS Coupe, as well as the addition of a washer fluid level sensor.

A midcycle refresh arrives for the 2019 model year that introduces new, model-specific front and rear styling, a new trim level structure for LT models that adds a new 3LT trim, and a new 1LE track performance package for the 2.0L Turbo LTG engine. The 2019 Camaro also brings the new GM 10-speed automatic transmission for SS models, the Rear Camera Mirror, third-generation infotainment systems, and various other enhancements.

The gen six Chevy Camaro is assembled for all markets by GM USA at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Lansing, Michigan, USA.

  1. I just got out of a 3 day rental of a 2019 Camaro in Houston. Why would anyone want one of these? It has the outward visibility of a Lamborghini with a buzzy 4 cylinder and a cheap interior out of a base Hyundai. Driving in Houston traffic looking at the door handles of passing Silverados is not fun or confidence inspiring. Next time i’ll Know to take any other rental other than this coffin on wheels.

    1. Here you go, ladies and gents: a prime example of someone who just wants a crossover appliance for an automobile.

      1. I am not a person “who just wants a crossover appliance for an automobile”. I am a person who has never owned or leased a “crossover appliance” as you call them. I have bought 3 different fifth-gen Camaros for myself and family, two coupes and a convertible. I do often rent different vehicles as I frequently travel and I feel I can tell the difference between a well executed design and one that is not. The sixth gen is more claustrophobic than ever and no way better to drive than say a new Challenger. Go rent one for yourself before you buy. If there is a new seventh gen Camaro, I sure hope GM takes a whole different approach, or otherwise don’t bother.

  2. You didn’t see the size of the windows nor the low nature of the car at the rental place before agreeing to that particular car for your rental ????

    1. Sometimes, late at night, you have to take the only car available.

  3. I own 1999 z28, had it for 20 years, and thinking about getting a new one. However they are just too expensive and it sounds like GM doesn’t have any discounts for a person like me. Instead they are basically pushing me to switch to the dark side, and *then* they hope to try to lure me back. Interesting strategy, however at the very least it means that they won’t get my business for the next few years.

    1. You do realize that incentives vary every month, and that some months have this conquest incentive, while others have a loyalty incentive. You would typically qualify for the loyalty incentive, though I’m not sure if the age of your Z28 would preclude the offer from being extended to you.

      1. Sorry, I’m not sure when and where you saw GM $3K loyalty rebate for a Camaro. If you could post a link to *one* such event over last 20 years, I’d appreciate that. And no, rebates do not change that much *every* month. Normally it’s $500 .. 1500 at max.

  4. We bought our 2018 ZL1 1LE with a 15% discount back in March, which was substantially more than $1,500 off.
