Competitive Sales Comparison
The Chevrolet Blazer jumped up five spots in the sales rankings amongst two- and three-row mainstream midsize and full-size crossovers during Q3 2019, as the model continues to gain traction in the market. A good metric for comparison is the all-new Honda Passport, which launched around the same time as the Blazer and competes directly against it. On a segment share basis, the Blazer accounted for 4 percent share, well behind the 12 percent share held by the Jeep Grand Cherokee and 7 percent share of the Ford Edge – two of the Blazer’s primary rivals besides the Hyundai Santa Fe and aforementioned Honda Passport.
The mainstream mid- and full-size crossover segments, comprised of CUVs with a starting price in the vicinity of $30,000, expanded 8.8 percent to 518,723 units in Q3 2019.
The GM Authority Take
Chevrolet Blazer sales performance during Q3 2019 reflects a model that’s starting to gain traction in the marketplace, as availability of the Blazer continues to improve and national marketing efforts continue to increase awareness of the model. Chevy’s new midsize crossover was more readily available in Q3 than it was in Q1, during which point the Blazer accounted for 3,023 deliveries. Hence, Q3 sales were nearly seven times that of Q1 and almost double the units sold in Q2.
Moving forward, we believe that Blazer sales will continue to climb as availability improves. That said, it will be interesting to see how the competition will impact the new crossover’s sales performance, especially as all-new offerings like the new Honda Passport also reach the market in greater quantities. The Blazer recently beat the Passport in one shootout, and then lost to the Japanese vehicle in a different comparison. The Blazer will also face internal competition from its corporate cousin – the refreshed 2020 Acadia.

About Chevrolet Blazer
The Chevrolet Blazer is a mid-size crossover utility vehicle (CUV). It is currently Chevrolet's second-biggest CUV, slotting between the compact Chevrolet Equinox and full-size Chevrolet Traverse. The current model was introduced for the 2019 model year and represents the fifth generation of the Blazer nameplate, which dates back to 1969. The model rides on the regular-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform shared most directly with the second-gen GMC Acadia and first-gen Cadillac XT5. The long-wheelbase variant of the same platform is shared with the Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, and Cadillac XT6.
The 2019 Blazer flaunts attention-grabbing exterior design, seamlessly integrated customer-focused technologies and superb functionality. Many of the exterior and interior design elements are borrowed from the sixth-generation Camaro.
The 2019 Blazer range consists of four trim levels, including the base L, three mid-tier Blazer trim levels (consisting of three LT trims), the sporty Blazer RS and the range-topping Blazer Premier trim. New technology offered on the 2019 Blazer includes capless fuel fill, HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, and a Cargo Management System.ÂÂ
Under the hood are two engine options: the base 2.5L I4 LCV and the optional 3.6L V6 LGX. Both motors are mated to the GM 9-speed automatic transmission. Pricing starts at the $29,995.
The Chevrolet Blazer is built at the GM Ramos Plant by GM Mexico.

Well, I hope the production of hundreds of thousands of vehicles lost during the strike was worth the 4% market share Blazer is pulling in this segment. Of all the GM vehicles produced in Mexico, I think this one caused more reasons for the strike and lost production to other countries than any other model.
Its a shame it’s not built here and there’s no way for an SS model, other then that I think GM hit it out the park with this design inside and out, not a suv or cuv guy but I kinda want this
Us built cars are not for me!
Let’s build hummers !!!
Live to dream.. a 2020 Chevrolet Blazer AWD with a 750 hp LT5 supercharged 6.2L V8 as it could easily beat the current Blazer’s 14.7 sec @ 95.5 mph and give the C8 Corvette Z51 Stingray a real race.
@omegatalon I like the way you think!!!
What is it with you and constantly wanting unrealistic/unfeasible powertrain options?
Just be grateful it is not a wish for an Allison V12 with a Supercharger.
Amazing how they treat a vehicle like this versus any of there few remaining sedans. 3 engine choices and plenty of models to choose from. More exterior color choices. More advertising. Loads of them sitting in dealer lots. No stone unturned for their cash cows!
Hmmm . . . 35,000 sold YTD. Yet, I have not seen ONE in Central Florida all year.
