Below, we’ve included sales figures for full-size luxury crossovers for the sake of reference. Though they differ mechanically from the body-on-frame SUVs above by having a unibody construction, they are typically cross-shopped and considered as alternatives to the full-size body-on-frame SUVs. Currently, the only full-size luxury crossovers are the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class and the new BMW  X7, though Audi is rumored to have a future Q9 in the pipeline.

The GM Authority Take

Not only did the Escalade outsell all its direct rivals on a combined basis during Q3 2019, but cumulative Cadillac Escalade sales volume also increased during the quarter. The performance is nothing short of impressive considering the age of the Escalade, as it’s now the oldest product in its competitive set and is bound for an all-new model for the 2021 model year.

This turn of events is great news for GM, as the Escalade is vital to the financial fitness of the automaker. In fact, Escalade is believed to be GM’s most profitable product line. The same is the case for its direct rivals at Nissan/Infiniti and Ford/Lincoln.

We imagine that the ongoing climb in Cadillac Escalade sales is thanks to lucrative Escalade incentives, such as  $8,000 off any 2019 model during the month of September. There is an all-new Escalade just around the corner. The completely-overhauled model was previously expected for the 2020 model year, but will actually arrive for 2021. We expect Escalade sales to increase well past their current levels once the all-new model fully launches next year.

  1. It’s to bad that Cadillac is not using names for their vehicles. The Escalade mean something when you buy a Cadillac. Cadillac has names from the past that could fit right in with the naming of the vehicles today. Everyone seems to have letters and numbers for the vehicles I would rather have a name any day

    1. This tired argument again? You prefer names… I prefer numbers. It doesn’t ultimately matter as long as the car is good.

That said, most luxury cars are sold with alphanumeric names. Consumers are used to it. How do you identify where a model fits into the lineup with names?

      1. Tom loves beating that dead horse… It is amusing how people believe names designate but the obvious Alphanumerics don’t. Laughable. Let’s see if this helps. When you need new customers like Cadillac does, those not familiar with your brand can easily determine that a CT6 is bigger than a CT4. Does that help Tom?

  2. I purchased the Cadillac OEM name for the rear of my 2019 Escalade. It is simply a peel and stick item with a chrome finish.
I prefer for the brand name to be on my vehicle, so I just purchased it and installed it.
You can buy brand new OEM Cadillac name plates on Ebay, and even Cadillac dealerships sells them.
