We’re chomping at the bit to learn about GM’s line of next-gen full-size SUVs, which are set to drop by the 2021 model year. That, of course, includes the 2021 GMC Yukon, which was recently spied in prototype form testing on public roads, providing us with a glimpse at the model’s newly redesigned headlamps.
While the fresh new headlamps are obviously obscured by white netting, we can still pick out a few notable features worthy of examination. For starters, the overall shape of the 2021 GMC Yukon headlamps appears to be different from that of the 2019 GMC Yukon, with new character lines that stretch back into the fenders at a more horizontal angle, as opposed to the obtuse angle on the current GMC Yukon.
In addition to reshaped housings, the interior elements of the 2021 GMC Yukon headlamps are new as well, with a redesigned inner structure and new projectors. We wouldn’t be surprised to find new LED lighting signatures thrown on top.
Previously, we profiled the 2021 GMC Yukon production-intent grille, which gets polished horizontal slats like the GMC Sierra Denali. We also took a look at the new production-intent taillamps, which feature a familiar upright stance, but with new inner graphics.
The prototype featured here is the Yukon Denali XL, which is the model line’s range-topping trim level and extended-length body type. However, much like the redesigned taillamps, these new production-intent headlamps will be used across the entirety of the future GMC Yukon lineup.
Further updates will include a new interior design, the latest infotainment gear, a lower curb weight and an independent rear suspension. The 2021 GMC Yukon will run on the GM T1 vehicle platform, the same bones as 2019 GMC Sierra and 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, alongside the all-new Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, and Cadillac Escalade / Escalade ESV.

I think it’s ugly. It looks like they wrapped the entire vehicle with a garbage bag. And that interior looks cheap. GM could do much better.
Reveal these things already!
I guess no one saw the humor…
It’s okay. I did. One of the reasons I grab news from this site and go. I discuss it elsewhere. Too many bandwagon fans here. Kinda like Honda and Toyota fans that think those brands can do no wrong.
It appears that the new Yukon will have greater road presence compared to it’s predecessor model and will give it more differentiation from its Chevrolet and Cadillac stable mates. I can’t wait to see General Motor’s purpose built utilities make their debut in the near future.
Looks like the same body size and stance as my 2015 Yukon xl. I really wish Toyota would make something that looks as nice
I’m kinda done with the camo pics. Reveal the thing so i can decide whether to head to my local GM dealer to get a deal on the current model or not.
@KT lol i hear you man!! But ima be honest I think it says that they’ll reveal it at the end of this year.
What about reliability? I finally just got rid of my 2017 Yukon Denali XL. Purchased it new with only 16 miles. At 6,562 mile the engine blew. With only 48,000 miles it already had the engine and radiator replaced, battery, wiring harness, one fuse box, DVD player, bearings in the transmission, and the entire front differential replaced!!! Over $20k in warranty repair bills! GM would not cover the battery they replaced even though it was only 13 months old. NO help from GM what so ever with this piece of junk. Would not offer an extended warranty! Talk about a lemon and piece of junk! Professional grade my butt! By far the worse vehicle I’ve ever owned. It was driven by wife daily and left her broke down multiple times along with our kids. Again, GM never cared! GM can put a new body style and new paint on their turd to make it look better, but until they address all of the reliability issues it’s not going to be any better. Never again will I own one. GM only cares about making money and their profit margin. They sure DO NOT care about the customer!
I need them to reveal these so I can see if I’m waiting on Jeeps Wagoneer or picking up a Navigator. I hope the XT6 isn’t any anything remotely previewing what the next Escalade will look like.
My bet is that you won’t be disappointed with the look, and that it won’t be similar to the CT6. The materials and build quality are a whole other thing. I’m curious about the Wagoneer as well, and whether the interior people for RAM will rub off on the SUV designers.
You can afford navigator and waiting to see the youkon????
If you noticed, I said “THESE”. By these I mean the Caddy, GMC and Chevy SUVs combined.
GMC chevy gm is not what it use to be they build these SUVs with low quality parts, in the beginning they start out good but once mileage starts to add up you’ll start to see the gremlins come out, transmission problems, engine knocking they call it piston slap and that’s it’s ok all sorts of problems with the drive train. After my last yukon denali I decided never to buy gmc or chevy again what’s the use if it looks good but soon after it starts to have problems. Low quality vehicle for too much money it’s not worth it. Rather have honda or toyota which has a very good reputation. Before you buy I would wait a year or two and then check some reviews from owners then make your decision but beware. I’m done with gmc.
Shhhh Justin! Don’t say those thing out loud because my 200k plus Yukon might get it’s feeling hurt. It also might think it doesn’t run as good as it does after 16 years. Oh yeah, if you’re done with GMC, why are you here?
