The new 2020 Corvette C8 is finally here, and frankly, we can’t stop thinking about it. Not only is it a rip-roaring performance monster capable of blasting to 60 mph in less than three seconds, but with a price tag under $60,000 and features like a suspension lift system, the new mid-engine C8 has all the right stuff to be used every day. What’s more, with the new Z-Mode, owners can now set each of the onboard systems exactly as desired, offering even greater customization.
The 2020 Corvette Z-Mode takes its name from the car’s long list of high-spec performance variants, including the Z51, Z06 and ZR1. It’s worth noting that each of the models mentioned is expected to return with future iterations of the 2020 Corvette.
Back to Z-Mode. Drivers can activate it by pressing a large “Z” button on the steering wheel, which is located on the left-hand side, directly next to the central section upholstery.
“This is a single-use mode that takes MyMode configurations one step further, allowing drivers to adjust the engine and transmission as well,” says Chevrolet.
Essentially, Z-Mode allows drivers to customize a variety of parameters, including digital presets for the steering system, transmission, suspension, engine, and even the exhaust, all of which is configurable from the central infotainment screen.
2020 Corvette drivers can choose between a number of different settings for each parameter, including Tour, Sport and Track, offering either more aggression or more comfort, as desired.
The 2020 Corvette Z-Mode is similar to MyMode, but includes additional parameters with regard to the powertrain. Thus, Z-Mode is perfect for on-the-fly reconfiguration to a more aggressive setup, or a stealthier setup, as the situation may warrant.
Z-Mode is a considerable upgrade over what was offered with the previous Corvette C7, which also included a number of different drive modes, but more limited in their scope in terms of parameters and customizability. The previous Corvette C7’s drive modes included Weather, Eco, Tour, Sport and Track.
