GM is recalling some 2019-2020 Chevrolet Equinox crossovers with all-wheel-drive over improperly manufactured fuel tanks that could cause a fire.
The defect: the fuel tanks may have been manufactured with an improperly sealed seam, possibly allowing fuel to leak along the seam near the fuel inlet.
The hazards: a fuel leak in the presence of the ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
Affected components: fuel system.
Number of vehicles affected: 301 units located in the United States.
The fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tank, free of charge.

On Nov. 19, 2021 my 2019 Chevrolet Equinox caught on fire as I was pulling out of my driveway for a planned engagement, the fire started in the fuse compartment area of my vehicle right by the gas intake area, I reported it immediately to GM, my insurance company and the dealership where I purchased it, I’m still awaiting satisfaction for my vehicle that was totalled and I suffered minor burns to my hand in a successful attempt to keep it from exploding… GM did give me and my insurance company a incident number…
