We Render The New Silverado Midnight Edition

GM is only now reaching the final stages of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado launch, which means that all models, powertrains, body variants and trim levels are in production and widely available at the retail level. But what GM has yet to do as part of the launch is introduce special edition variants of the new Silverado, so we took it upon ourselves to render a particularly noteworthy special edition model – the Midnight Edition.
The Midnight Edition of the last-gen Silverado was essentially a black-out appearance package, and that’s what our Double Cab model is, in spades.
Up front, our new Silverado Midnight Edition features a blacked-out front end, with a body-color bumper, a black Bow Tie logo and a black front skid plates. The side mirror caps, door handles, and DLO window trim have also been blacked out. A large Z71 badge sits prominently on the front fender.
The black-out treatment continues to the back of our new Silverado Midnight Edition, with a black-out treatment to the rear bumper. Our model has single side-exit exhaust, though we imagine that the Midnight Edition special edition of the all-new Silverado will also be offered with dual exhaust. The entire kit sits on large black wheels with an aggressive tire tread.
All in, we have to say that the black-out treatment works well with the all-new Silverado T1, as the sinister treatment complements the aggressive front fascia of the new truck.
Meanwhile, the last-gen Chevrolet Silverado Midnight Edition – pictured above – offered the following unique features:
- Black Bow Tie logos front and rear
- 18-inch 5-spoke black painted alloy wheels
- 18-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires with aggressive tire tread
- Large Z71 badges on doors
- Black front skid plate
The package was only offered on the 2LT and 2LZ (up-level LTZ) trim levels of the K2 Silverado. As for the all-new Silverado, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to expect it to receive a Midnight Edition at some point during the 2020 model year, with the all-new Silverado HD getting the same for 2021. You can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a …
bacon comes from pigs, so I’m going to assume that’s a compliment! 🙂
Is that out of the same train of thought as “opinions are like ________?”
Q: You know why the Ford logo is “Oval”.
A: When the young Mr. Ford was an apprentice, His instructor told Him to always circle His mistakes.
Friendly joke, here.
Intended in good fun.
Don’t go nuts.
If you do, I’ll wave the International Harvester Banner.
Best Farm Truck…ever.
Produced during a time when the Fish you caught were a lot bigger and the Truck you drove to the lake was way smaller.
You do know why that oval existe, his grade school teacher told him to circle his mistake !!!!
That’s my joke !!!
A Black Truck with black Wheels some Fog Lights.
“Render”?
Respectfully, it looks like a simple 2-minute photo-shop.
Hey hey hey! You forgot about the wheels and all the little details that make a Silverado Midnight Edition pop.
Our goal was to imagine how the new Silverado would look like with the Midnight Edition treatment. Well, mission accomplished. Meanwhile, here you are whining about what, exactly? About the use of the term “rendering”? Because this here is exactly that… a rendering.
Your comment just goes to prove that there will always be haters. Oh well.
I have no artistic talent but I could have done this.
How about a real challenge. Render us a ZRX.
“I have no artistic talent but I could have done this.”
I’ll take you up on that! Please send your version of the Silverado Midnight Edition to
GMAUTHORITY at MOTROLIX.COM
I’ll be waiting!
Unfounded criticism, rather than common sense, seems to be in vogue today, so from the entire GMA team… “you are welcome for making these renderings and bringing them to you FOR FREE.”
What a bunch of whiny losers. I could have done better this I could have done better that I could do better something else. Bla bla bla.
The point is you didn’t do it. None of you did. And I actually doubt any of you who say you can do it truly can do it. So shut up and crawl back into your basements. You should be so ashamed.
Own a positive note: on my second Silverado Midnight. Love these things and can’t for the new one to come out. I be the first in line when they are available.
Chris the problem is GM can sucker some people into paying more for just some paint or decals. Some more than once I hear.
I get it they make money with it and spend so little to fool those who buy these models. But even GMC give you some added content with the Denali. Things like bigger engine, styling changes, cooling seats, Hud and more. On the Midnight even the fake roll bar is an option.
These are nice looking trucks but they are getting a little long in the tooth. It is the truck equal to the CSI TV shows.
The ZRX is hope they have more content and more than just some blackl paint or decals ready for the new model.
Earl and Mitchell would have never allowed this year after year.
Alex that was a joke, please do not take things personal. My comment was more on how GM does so little to make a special edition. You know the paint and decal jobs that they keep repeating. Yes they make money because there is little investment. But it is getting old.
But I was serious in my challange for the ZRX.
That one could take some serious thought as it would not only be paint and decals but added content and styling changes.
It would be interesting to see the sites take on what we will see.
Note I am not expecting a Raptor but a nice ZR2 like full size would be a good place to start.
At least they made the Trail Boss a regular production model that can be built to several levels of trim.
In all honesty this is the least original Silverado body to date, looks like they got lazy and stole some tundra and f150 body shape designs
I still think if they fixed the front clip it would be one of their best designs ever. As is, I think it’s costing them sales. I can see a bit of tundra in the rear I suppose but I don’t see F-150 at all. Not even a little bit.
I LIKE IT…I BOUGHT A NEW BLACK SILVERADO EARLY, AND I LIKE THE CHROME BETTER BUT IT IS A WONDERFUL TRUCK..6.2 V-8 W/10 SPEED AITO….SUPERCHARGED MY LAST 6.2, BUT THIS IS FAIRLY QUICK AS-IS
Ive seen better and way badd asser Silverados at the dealerships here in Texas.. God Bless Texas!
I really like the renderings Alex, keep em coming. I know I gave you shit about the approach angle on the off road rendering of the tahoe (or perhaps it was the yukon) but the subsequent renderings of the off road full size SUVs showed a shaved down air dam that addressed my concerns. I’m not a big fan of murdered out vehicles but this rendering looks great.
