The Best Chevrolet Camaro vs. Ford Mustang Review Moments: Video

Earlier this year, we posted an article that indicated the Chevrolet Camaro had gotten the better of the Ford Mustang in Motor Trend testing over the years, with the Camaro winning 14 comparison tests with its arch rival over the years and the Mustang taking a very close 13. We expected Chevy fans to dwell on the small victory, but what’s really notable is that Motor Trend has pitted the Camaro against the Mustang 27 times over the years – a good indication of the strong appetite American consumers have for Camaro and Mustang content.
Motor Trend has now decided to look back on those various Camaro vs. Mustang comparison tests in a new highlight reel video featuring clips from its archives. All these clips were filmed for its Head 2 Head comparison TV series and are thus relatively recent, although the fifth-generation Camaro is featured throughout in various trims (including the Z/28) along with the previous-generation Mustang. Apart from those two, the clips are all of the current Camaro and current Mustang.
The last time MT compared a Camaro to a Mustang was for the May 2019 issue of the magazine, when the Mustang Convertible PP1 beat the Camaro SS Convertible. One of the main reasons the cars are typically so evenly matched is that their respective engineering teams have always relied on each other to push the performance boundaries of the pony car segment and drive interest in the segment. Dodge has also recently joined the fray in a serious matter, with its Challenger product offensive paying off to displace the Camaro and become the second best-selling pony car in America behind the Mustang.

I wish MT would have traded Johnny For Jethro straight across. Now Head 2 Head has not one, but two foreigners with little knowledge of American cars! I understand that they have to let Ford win every now and then to keep the suits happy but when they disregard the actual performance data to make it happen, well that’s just gross Johnny!
