Chevrolet Cruze Discount Cuts Price By $3,000 In September 2019

Chevrolet Cruze sales decreased 57 percent to 16,166 units in the second quarter, unsurprising results given that the vehicle has been discontinued. And now, a Chevrolet Cruze discount reduces the price of the compact car by a not-insignificant $3,000 during the month of September 2019. It’s worth noting that a similar incentive was offered last month, though both offers are a bit less appealing than the Chevrolet Cruze discount offers available at the beginning of the year, such as the over $4,000 offer in February.
The Incentive
Nationwide Chevrolet Cruze discount offers in September 2019 are as follows:
- 2019 Cruze (excluding L models) – $750 cash allowance when financing with GM Financial + $2,250 customer cash = $3,000 cash allowance
- 2019 Cruze (excluding L models) – $500 APR Cash + 0 percent APR (interest-free) for 60 months when financing through GM Financial
Potential buyers should note that the above discounts are not applicable to base L models.
For reference, here are the 2019 Cruze trim levels and their corresponding starting MSRPs:
Sedan
-
- L – $18,870
- LS – $19,995
- LT – $22,595
- Premier – $24,395
- Diesel – $26,495
Hatchback
-
- LS – $20,495
- LT – $22,995
- Premier – $24,895
- Diesel – $26,995
As such, the $3,000 Chevrolet Cruze discount brings the starting price of a 2018 Premier Sedan to $18,014, which is lower than the price of the LS model.
It’s highly likely that the purpose of these Chevrolet Cruze discount offers is to sell any existing Cruze inventory and to close the book on the Cruze chapter in North America altogether, which is a rather sad circumstance, in our opinion. Luckily, the Cruze will live on in China and South America.

About Chevrolet Cruze
The Chevrolet Cruze is a range of compact passenger cars that currently consists of a four-door sedan and five-door hatchback. It slots above the Chevrolet Spark city car and subcompact Chevrolet Sonic and below the midsize Chevrolet Malibu and full-size Chevrolet Impala. The current model was introduced for the 2016 model year and represents the second generation of the Cruze nameplate. It rides on the GM D2 platform shared with the second-generation Chevrolet Volt and Buick Verano (in China).
Compared to its first-generation predecessor, the second-gen model is an all-new vehicle that is slightly larger, sleeker and more modern. The first-generation Cruze family was produced in sedan, hatchback, and wagon body styles, but only the sedan was available in North America. By comparison, the second-generation model is available only as a sedan and hatchback. Though a wagon variant of the second-gen model was never produced, the hatchback model became available in North America. The second-generation Cruze received a midcycle enhancement, otherwise known as a facelift, refresh or update, for the 2019 model year that consists of updated exterior styling, a new Chevrolet infotainment system, and new interior colors.
The Cruze is produced across the following GM plants globally:
- GM Lordstown plant in Lordstown, Ohio, USA assembling the Cruze sedan supplying North America
- GM Ramos plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico assembling the Cruze hatchs upplying North America
- GM Rosario plant in Argentina assembling the Cruze sedan and Cruze hatch (called Cruze6) supplying Latin America
- GM Norsom II plant in China assembling the Cruze sedan and Cruze hatchback satisfying China
- GM Gunsan plant in South Korea supplying Eurasia as Holden Astra Sedan (this facility was closed in 2018, and Cruze production no longer takes place here)
In November 2018, General Motors announced that it will discontinue the Chevrolet Cruze, along with five other passengers cars. The move will see the vehicle discontinued globally, while resulting in the idling of the Lordstown plant in Warren, Ohio. The model is set to be discontinued in the first quarter of 2019.

good by GM hello civic –sentra– corolla . idiots at GM you will loose more customers
My thoughts, exactly, to me this is a cool car, but killed off by a weak Marketing Strategy, should have got some guidance from Honda, Toyota, Nissan and even Subaru on what makes their strategies in the Compact Segment an ongoing success story, this car could have even had the potential to have a high performance variation built to compete against the Honda Civic SI model and even compete against the Subaru WRX if they had the right designers and Engineers on board but that’s too much wishful thinking at this point.
GM never advertised the Cruze much at all. Brilliant.
I, sadly, am still in the midst of Chevy Cruze nightmare. Many warranty services, starting at 70,000 miles. And I am in the midst of putting another $2000+ in repairs; not the least of which is catalytic converter. Should not need catalytic converter at 118,000. Deeply disappointed, warn others do not purchase this car. If you have any doubts about what I have said, walk into any auto parts store. Mention the make and model, they will nod and commiserate. Unfortunately, I am not sure that i would ever buy another Chevy.
