Buick Enspire To Feature 10 Inch Center Screen, Fully Digital Gauge Cluster
48Sponsored Links
Earlier this month, GM Authority brought you the very first interior photos of the upcoming Buick Enspire. The standout feature in those disguised shots was a rather large multimedia screen that was angled toward the driver. Since then, GMA has dug deeper to find out more details about with the cabin, enabling us to find specific details about the cabin.
Sources familiar with the Buick Enspire product program told GMA that the upcoming Buick Enspire will feature a center infotainment screen measuring 10.2 inches diagonally. In addition, the future Buick crossover will feature an analog speedometer and tachometer flanking a digital center screen as standard equipment.
This analog speedo and tach configuration is what we saw in the aforementioned spy shots earlier this month. However, Buick will also offer a fully-digital instrument panel / gauge cluster as an option on the Enspire.
This means that the Buick Enspire will become the first Buick model to offer a fully-digital gauge cluster. In addition, the Enspire will also have the largest center screen of all Buick models. In fact, the Enspire will have a larger center display than its E2 platform mate – the Cadillac XT4, which utilizes an 8-inch diagonal center screen. Only the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Cadillac CT5 will tie the Buick Enspire when it comes to the size of the center display, with all three models featuring a 10.2-inch screen.
Buick Enspire | Chevrolet Bolt EV | Cadillac XT4 | Cadillac CT5 | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Center screen: | 10.2” | 10.2” | 8” | 10.2” |
Base gauge cluster: | Analog speedo & tach with 8” display | Fully digital 8” | Analog speedo & tach with 4.2” display | Analog speedo & tach with 4.2” display |
Optional gauge cluster: | Fully digital | Same as base | Analog speedo & tach with 8” display | Analog speedo & tach with 8” display |
The Buick Enspire will be positioned between the Buick Envision and upcoming baby Buick Enclave (in China) and Buick Enclave (in North America). It will be similar in size to its platform mate, the Cadillac XT4. It’s worth noting that the Enspire will be a more premium offering than the Envision, despite the two models having similar dimensions.
We expect the Buick Enspire to be revealed some time in 2020 and go on sale in the second half of the year as a 2021 model year vehicle. The model is expected to be sold in both North America and China.

These digital clusters should be standards on all Cadillacs, except for the ones whose screens crack. These will become standards across all lines soon as they’re simpler with fewer moving parts vs analogs. Its essentially plug and play.
Poor pathetic “platform mate” the XT4, one of Cad’s most recent vehicles only has an 8″ screen… but, isn’t the Equinox and everyother GM Crossover essentially the same massaged platform? It would be one thing if it was an exceptional platform vs ehhh…. This car will come std with one color and “jet black” crappy plastic interiors… more pathetic garbage from GM. The Kia Telluride and really every Hyundai and Kia are exceptional examples of packaging done right. GM = cheap junk.
The XT4 will also get the items outlined here for the Enspire.
Just because a gauge cluster isn’t fully digital doesn’t make it any worse or any better than a fully digital unit.
And no, XT4 is not mechanically related to Equinox.
Hyundai and Kia are exceptional examples in being the newest products in their segments. Good for them! But why do you continuously bring up three-row, near full size crossovers in conversations about a compact two-row crossover? Have you even driven an XT4?
Packaging and value? Why do you bring up 3 row mid size when I’m talking about packaging and value?
Not trolling GM continues to miss all marks and disappoints with every new product launch. Vette is the exception..
“GM continues to miss all marks and disappoints with every new product launch. Vette is the exception.”
Over 7,000 paying XT4 customers during Q2 2019 disagree with you.
Clearly you must be smarter than them.
Follow the money (paying customers), not the bull$hit (baseless comments from you).
Buick may turn into a real bright spot in the GM portfolio! With Opel gone Buick will be far more free to dip into the Cadillac parts/platform bin as opposed to being a mere glorified Chevrolet.
This will give Cadillac an advantage over Acura and Infinity going forward. It would be fantastic seeing the next Regal based off CT5 as opposed to FWD architecture.
Typical dip$hi& liberal.. start insulting people. You’re an idiot if you think 7000 in sales is good… but clearly YOU must be smarter than everyone else. Seriously, they fabricate a segment so they can say its #1… thats delusional and pathetic.
There is no question GM launches have been disappointing, every single review I’ve read has indicated as such. If you can source one that says everything has been out of the ball park, other than this one, lemme know, I’d be curious. But quit drinking the kook aide.. knowitall….
BTW: I LOVE GM and wish they were run by serious people. I grew up in GM vehicles and I can say, “no one wants them to be successful more than me”. But the current trajectory is crap and they continue to lose. They used to make insane products that folks spend huge money for at auctions.
I trade my Mercedes E for a 13 ATS 3.6 Premium when it came out. Great looking black w/Red interior, CUE was cool. But the Customer Svc at the dealer sux and it was recalled like 10X. IVe never had a car recalled in my life?
But: my favorite GM of the last few years are: CTS-V (unquestionably an fabulous car, perfect size, good looks, interior could be better but still good and oh the engine. New Vette is dynamite, and the CT6 which deserves MORE not the axe.)
Xjug,
Don’t let these ” GM is always right ” people dissuade your comments !
If the only thing GM ever hears is how great they are at selling undervalued ” known faulty ” parts.
And the ” same ” vehicle only different !!
Some of them, with new GM vehicles, have had entire transmission replaced, and love it !, Like its the best thing that has ever happened to them,
Thank you sir, may I have another, type beatings !!!
They are never going to change !!
We would all be driving one GM vehicle ” and we kind of are ” if it were left up to some here !
But Alex is correct GM has sold X number of XT4 vehicles ( although its only half or so do to XT5 buyers just buying XT4s )
So great job GM/Cadillac on that onslaught assault !!!
If these last attempts of GM, with Cadillac, were supposed to build us Cadillac owners up for the ” All new ” EV Cadillac onslaught, its is not working, in my opinion !!
Putting the Cadillac badge on a Chevrolet vehicle, and then producing better ( other badged GM vehicles) to keep that line relevant, I just don’t get it !!
I like Barra as a CEO, and not quite sure what to think of Ruess, There are a lot of EGO and Arrogance in them both, in my opinion, but can anyone here tell me ?
What are the badges of GM for today ?
What do they even mean anymore ?
Why do they need them at all ?
Boomers ?
GM badges haven’t stood for specific quality, reliability, advancements, technology, luxury, performance, etc. linked to a badge for years !!
Like the GM Chevrolet badge is to mean X
Like the GM GMC badge is to mean X
Like the GM Buick badge is to mean X
Like the GM Cadillac badge is to mean X
Any way everyone have a good day !
Just my opinion !
LifelongGMmoaner with nothing better to with his time…….
Tell me that story about the broken screen again grandpa, we love that one…..
Again Mr.R .
The screen does not break !!
Nowhere is there a crack !!
Just another GM ” faulty design ”
Did you design it ?
Is that why this offends you so ?
But I am always willing to tell you just one more time how GM has horrible customer support !!
Tell me that story again Mr.R of how GM doesn’t have recalls and class action lawsuits, and how they care about the customer, that’s always a good one !!
Does Mark Reuss pay you for the spit wash you give his balls, or do you do it for free?
Calling people names is lazy. I’m sure you are smarter than that.
Hey GM/Cad: Don’t show me the Ciel and El Miraj and give me the crappy XT0… you’re behind and losing… either step up or quit so someone who really wants the brand to prosper can light the fuse… Its embarassing to watch these pathetic morons.
And Alex, I know Mary Barra, knew her when she worked for Gary Cowger, whom I also know. She’s a lifer like her father was, SHE is failing and they need new leadership. Carlisle MIGHT be good but he can only do what the ivory tower allows… Reuss is not his father either, Lloyd Reuss was a car guy and I thought Mark was too? They need to refocus on product. Car & Driver wrote about the “return to American Luxury” speaking of the Lincoln Aviator… THAT is what the XT6 should have been. I mean Cad’s been waiting for that segment product for over 10 years and they get a massaged Acadia….. they’re simply not serious… regardless of the take rate its a jr varsity effort.
“IHey GM/Cad: Don’t show me the Ciel and El Miraj and give me the crappy XT0”
I love these statements from idiots…..
Yeah, because NO COMPANY EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE AUTO INDUSTRY HAS SHOWN A CONCEPT CAR AND THEN NOT MADE IT.
Ever.
Look losers, stop crying about the Escalamirajelmodado or whatever, it aint coming.
Don’t like it? Go somewhere else.
The only idiot is you funkface.. you have opinions I have mine. U don’t like that u can ride off in your crappy Saturn Ion and go back to Gary, Indiana or whatever rock u crawled from under…
I live where you wish you could…..
Now that’s a good one Mr.R !!!
What the h3ll does that even mean ??
You live where you wish I could ?
I could live anywhere in the world, and have traveled all over it !
And live right where I want to live, and unless you are my neighbor, why would I want to live where you want to live ?
Again that comment make even less sense than most of your comments !!
@xjug:
Isn’t there another site you can troll?
I’ve kinda got to agree though. Digital dashes aren’t new in the industry. They are so configurable and allow for almost endless possibilities. The XT4 I had for a while didn’t have this and it was a let down. I agree with Alex, Hyundai and Kia are nailing it. They project the side view cameras into the digital dash when making a lane change to illuminate the blind spot of whatever side you’re turning to. The cameras are all there on many GM vehicles but they’re lacking a full digital dash. They released the full digital dash/side view cameras on a Hyundai sedan I believe either before or at the same time the XT4 was released, so it’s not even like Cadillac was designed way before.
Heck the VW golf has had a digital dash for a few years.
I really like the XT4 overall, but found there were a few small things that felt like it wasn’t up to par. The dash being one of them. Now I get that I might be an extremely unique case, but I feel like buying a Model year 2020 car without it makes it already seem dated.
Put the digital dash in an XT4-V with some better tech, and there’s a good change it will replace our Grand Cherokee.
And when every single GM car has a “digital”(they aren’t digital BTW) dash……
Then everyone will want a dash with needles again…..
Remember…..GM’s screens are all “too small”, until they install a huge screen….then GM would have gone too far.
All GM cars a “low tech” until they install tech in them, then they become ” too complicated”……
Etc etc etc
I guess that’s a fair point. Its very personal to whoever is interested in the car.
Me personally, I’d want that and was interested in getting into a new GM vehicle but was disappointed. Merc, BMW, Audi have had this tech for a few years and it just disappointing that it’s not yet available in GM’s flagship line.
I’m not sure I follow the “They aren’t digital BTW” but I get what you’re saying. If they had no screen people would complain they didn’t have a screen. If they had one that was 20″ big they’d complain it was too big. They won’t be able to appeal to everything all the time. I do feel like there is/should be a compromise though. I understand that I may not be the target market for GM however there are some vehicles they make that I do genuinely like and would like to support. Everything from XT4/5 to Camaro to Sierra (I have weird tastes) and rarely do I purchase a vehicle based on needs, I buy what I like. I’m happy to hear that GM is looking to add more tech and features, I just with I would have been a couple years ago like the competition.
Call it a instrument screen or TFT cluster, calling it a “digital dash” makes me think of something from the 80’s, that again “was the coolest thing on earth until……” of course UNTIL GM started putting digital dashes and touch screens in cars 33 years ago……and then all of sudden everyone “needed” analog gauges again.
Tech is a give and take, GM had HUD for DECADES before BMW or MB or anyone else thought about putting a HUD in their cars, but did those companies get knocked for not having a HUD? Nope, and now when BMW adds a HUD is a WOWEEEEE feature and no mention of how GM had one 30 years ago…….
Does every single thing in the car need to be connected to your iPhone? When is enough enough, do you need voice activated seat belts?
Mr.R
You don’t understand the difference between digital and analog because you are old !!
Nobody under the age of 45 even knows what the digital you talk of is !!
Tech that works is great !!!
GM has had tech that is junk because they have people like you who think a digital dash means one with numbers like the 80s designing it !
One more time like the CUE screen The engineer behind this did not know that plastic when it heats up expands greater than glass,
Simple, basic 101 stuff, but not for GM !!
Its a breakthrough that 80s digital dash in a 2020 vehicle !!
wow !!
I feel sorry for people who simply don’t understand tech.
But do they all have to work for GM !
Signed dearly by your favorite, lifelongGMmoaner.
Do you know even know what TFT means?
Ask your grandaughter after your nap…..
Or look it up on your Jitterbug Grandpa.
And I am under 45 and I know what digital is, because I’m not stupid, like you.
And once again !!
Just another name calling personal attack from Mr.R
Nothing new here !!
You cant answer the question so what do you do ?
Personal attack !!!!
Again Mr.R, when did you want human advancements to stop ?
Back when people danced the jitterbug, Ha, Ha.
You 45 year old young wiper snapper you !!
Thin Film Transistor, by the way !
Are you still talking at the onset of them ?
Normal Mr.R evolution of the use ?
Or full on the best use of them ?
Because you go back to the first use and hang out there, because I want the latest, best, fastest, brightest, longest lasting, most efficient use !!
Not the, lets stop here, Mr.R says ” that’s good enough ”
In my opinion.
You see, I get the feeling you want to sit and argue over whether GM has, or knows of the technology !
I could care less, Why could I care less ?
Because GM themselves does not have a GM plant making TFT- LCD, screens, they have to buy them !
And that is where I am at, this has nothing to do with what is possible today, what is possible today would amaze most !!
It has to do with GM telling their customer,
That’s good enough, we don’t want to spend the money for the TFT – LCD, or XYZ, or ABC, or whatever you want to talk about !!
They are cheap, their evolution is led by ” cheap ” not what is possible !!
They want demand to tell them what to offer, and the feedback GM receives is from people like you, that’s good enough, WHY !!
Because the customers GM wants are already driving the vehicles they want from the competition because they are more advanced and a better value for their dollar.
In my opinion.
Ahh, I get what you mean.
It seems like you and I are on opposite spectrum’s of the infotainment/tech scale and that’s totally fine.
And to be fair, maybe Cadillac and GM have done their research and found that you’re more their target market than I am, and again that’s okay too.
For me, newer safety features have done a lot for making vehicles more safe by just giving us more data. I absolutely love surround vision systems for safety as well as not scratching expensive wheels while parking. I love blind spot detection systems and lane departure warnings but can see how everyone doesn’t. For me personally, I like having all that stuff and if it’s not available through GM, maybe they aren’t the car company for me. Especially Cadillac that’s meant to compete with the big boys, it seems odd that they wouldn’t be showcasing the general’s cutting edge tech. Having said that, I’m still looking forward to super cruise and/or the rear view camera to trickle down. Those are both great innovations that GM should be proud of, however I feel like other vehicle tech shouldn’t suffer for 2 great features.
The GM vehicles I’m interested in are all fine vehicles in terms of needs. They have everything anyone could need to get back and forth to work, however for me they are still quite lacking on the wants. And unfortunately I make my decision on my wants.
Obviously, your comment was meant to troll but you brought up a legitimate complaint with this apparently outclassing the XT4. Though, I imagine that once the Escalade comes out, the reported all-new interior design will likely spread to the rest of the line in some form.
Alex,
Could you please clarify something. I might have missed something that you might have already addressed, if so I apologize.
So in two years Buick will have the Encore, Encore GX, Enspire, Envision, an EV CUV, and the Enclave on sale in the States?
Well, yes and no. The EV CUV might or might not happen for the US/North America for Buick until BEV3 comes along.
The Envision is another question mark,
since it might be completely replaced by the Enspire.
Other than that, it will be like you said:
Encore (first-gen)
Encore GX
Envision (might be gone by the time the second-gen model arrives)
Enspire
Enclave
Got it.
Why not just call the Encore GX another name? Or just call it the Encore.
Shoppers will understand the difference for a year just like they did with the GMC Acadia.
The Encore and Encore GX will be sold alongside each other for more than a year. As of what we know this far, the first-gen Encore is here to stay for the foreseeable future, given that the second-gen Encore on GEM isn’t coming to North America.
The GX moniker is part of a new branding initiative that creates vehicle families around nameplates. In effect, there is a “regular” model (Encore) and an up-level model (Encore GX). The Encore is only the beginning of this approach.
Alex, any thoughts on where else this naming approach might be applied? Enclave, I suppose, if the US gets the ‘baby enclave’. Any chance the Enspire actually debuts as Envision GX?
Mark – that’s currently the big question. I’ve heard whispers of internal discussions about how to apply this strategy going forward. Logic would dictate that the Enspire could be named Envision GX and the American-market Enclave would become Enclave GX. As of this writing, I know of no plans to do this, but this can certainly change on a dime prior to Enspire’s debut.
Or is the “Baby Enclave” going to be the Buick Envoy outside of China?
Alex, thank you for the explanation.
Another question, if GX is for Up Level models, what is Avenir then?
I just think Buick is making this way too complicated. Glad they are getting new models though.
I do hope a new Generation Regal will be in the cards but doubtful.
Well, the GX monicker is a nameplate while the Avenir is a trim level.
So you theoretically could have an Encore GX Avenir… if the high-end Avenir trim makes it to the Encore GX.
I don’t think it’s complex… just as long as people understand that GX models are different from non-GX models with the same root name. Nissan does this to great effect with the Rogue and Rogue Sport… though in that case, the two are mechanically related.
Hoorah!! This is what GM has to do to bring back some luster to the Tri Shield!! I hope that an Enspire model will on display at the 2019 LA Auto Show!!
Will the Buick Enspire have a BEV option ? It would be the perfect BEV to challenge a Tesla model Y and VW ID4.
Alex,
Thank you for this latest report. I know you had been saying that if the Envision seemed uninspiring to some that we should wait because something better was coming along. Although I personally think the Envision is okay, you were right. The Buick Enspire seems like it’s very well-designed and equipped.
Can all of the other trolls here explain what that is ?
A troll ?
Other than Alex, and the other writers of the articles, how are not every one of you trolls ?
Or every one of us trolls ?
If we all drive GM and have driven GM for years !!
If we all want the best that GM has to offer !!
Just because we differ on what we think is the right path, does not make anyone of us , trolls, or we are all trolls !!
If all of you here agreed with the past GM decisions, as being the , best GM decisions, you won !!
Your prize is the last GM decision vehicle you agreed with as the best, go buy one and drive it, you can you know, they made them.
Why are you here diminishing those of us who yearn for a better GM, for the GM vehicle we think is the best GM vehicle for us ?
Take this article. The only reason I read this one, is I want to figure out WHY some of you think its better for a Buick to have a better dash layout than Cadillac ?
Or even my $77,500.00 2020 Denali HD ?
Without any personal attacks, I just want to see why you think that decision was a good one ?
Because is any one of you are the inspiration for the future of GM,( part of the 7000 that said the dash of a $77,000 truck ) was ok, why ?
That’s why I read !
That’s why I comment !
Not to degrade you and call you all trolls !
Just my opinion.
Would you feel better if instead of a troll we called you a whinny old beeesch?
Complain, complain complain, like an old cat lady yelling at cars driving by her house.
Ok you bought a $77,000 truck?
SFW?
Wanna cookie?
Why are you here diminishing those of us who yearn for a better GM, for the GM vehicle we think is the best GM vehicle for us ?
Because it will NEVER BE GOOD ENOUGH, thats why you’re a troll, if GM lined its fender wells with gold, you would want them to be platinum……because you like to complain, it happens to men when they lose their other “zeals” in life, they become old women that like to complain all the time in the hopes that anyone will give a crap about what they are saying, men like you are “asking for the manager” at places everyday, looking to voice some sort of perceived grievance that they might have in hopes that anyone will listen to them even for a little bit, thats why you post here like its a wailing wall.
I want to figure out WHY some of you think its better for a Buick to have a better dash layout than Cadillac ?
You seem to have trouble understanding that products that come out in the future will have things that cars that came out in the past don’t have…..guess what, the 2028 Denali is also going to have a better instrument cluster than both of them and the 2040 car will be better than the 2028 one
Wow, gee the 2021 car is going to have something that a 2018 car didn’t have? Those GD GM bstrds coming up with new products……
You must be Alex’s other handle.. we all know the latest products get the latest tech… the only beesch is you 🙂
By the way tell me where I’m wrong in that GM is failing and I’m happy to admit it! But I’m not wrong they’re serving up their own lunch and others are happily dining
The ultimate goal of any company is to make money, and more specifically to return value to shareholders in the case of a publicly owned company. GM is doing well at that right now so I disagree that GM is failing.
I for one here never said GM as a company is failing.
And I have said time and time again I think Barra is doing a good job !
But GM is still contracting, that to me is somewhat worrisome !!
For me its like if you inherited one billion dollars, and every year you made money off some investment yet you have less than one billion dollars !
Gm has bought a lot of there stock back to keep the share price up, but when does that run out, you cant keep selling everything you own ( real estate, etc ) to say your making huge profits, time catches up. You cant keep having share holder meetings promising the world and delivering poop. You wait and see catches up to everyone, wait and see !!
So for now GM from the outside looks good, is it ? And for how long ?
That statement is just like GM saying , our next X will be great, you wait, will it be, has it been ?
I will bet you after all these launch failures in the last two years of the onslaught, the Escalade will be the greatest thing we have seen from GM in 100 years, over the top great, like Mercedes says ” the best on nothing “.
I would bet when they benchmarked that new Lincoln Navigator, GM spent some of the ” great EV cash ” on the Escalade to step It up !
And I sure as h3ll hope they did not ask any of the regulars on this site, if the Escalade was ” good enough” !!
In my opinion.
I hope you are right as the Escalate NEEDS to be an out of the park smash… if so… there’s still hope…. not hype… if not, if more of the same “what if” …. nope…
Mr.R, You guys should know by now I could care less what you call me !!
And all the personal attacks, doesn’t get to me, not even a little !!
It is a little funny though how it bothers you so !!
And you are CORRECT !!!! Get it, YOU ARE CORRECT !!( I figured Alex would let me use caps, you did )
You are correct by saying it will never be good enough, and platinum is and would be better than gold !!
And if the person who figured out what platinum even was would have said ” Mr.R says that’s good enough, walk to school, and when you get home cut wood to heat our house, because I have to go feed the horses to drive to town to buy supplies !
That’s you Mr.R
Sure I don’t like the Buick having a better interior or anything better than a Cadillac, but that’s my opinion !
Not like me saying that the Cadillac CUE screen is a GM design flaw, its a design flaw, its faulty, will not work long term, junk, there is not a maybe here. and I am not the only one, there is the class action law suit, and I will not join !
This is a GM problem not a lawyers problem !
There is a difference to me, why wasn’t GM using the 10 inch in the XT4 Cadillac ?
Sure it will get there, you say by evolution, but I say by customer demand !!
It was $$$$$$$$$ GM is quickly building a reputation of being the cheap brand !!
Get it yet, no longer the best, most reliable, highest quality brand, the cheapest brand !!
And Cadillac also !!
You see I am here demanding !!
I don’t like people like you telling me that 7000 people said the dash in my truck was good enough !
It was not good enough, and is not good enough, get it yet, it was not good enough ” when they decided to do it, back then, not evolution to better, it was not good enough back then, back when they did it !
I understand evolution, some are farther along than others, Ha, Ha, Ha !!!!
And if we all leave it up to you guys, it will always be good enough, and always behind the competition !!
You see, that’s what good enough is, good enough is behind !
Nobody ever said —– and the winner is—– just good enough !!!
The winner is better, are you one of those ” participation trophy people ” because that is what that is !!
” Its good enough Jonny, you participated that’s what counts, good enough ! ”
You see it yet, you get it yet, figure it out !!!
Its not good enough !
Gm’s new slogan, just made the news headlines !!
Its just good enough, everybody wants one !!
I will just say, some people who don’t understand things get confused, they don’t know how to use it , so they put it down ” we don’t need that new crap !!
Mr.R please answer this,
Where did you want the advancements in human life on this planet to stop ?
Got an answer ?
Because I never do !!!!
“This means that the Buick Enspire will become the first Buick model to offer a fully-digital gauge cluster.”
1988 Buick Regal calling on line 2!
