Chevrolet has just announced the 2020 Silverado Rally Edition at the State Fair of Texas, with the new model bringing a youthful and sporty street-focused style to the full-size pickup truck.
“Customer choice is a competitive advantage for Chevrolet, because no two truck drivers are alike,” said Silverado marketing manager Mark Sobczynski. “Special editions offer our customers a custom look direct from the factory that fits their unique personality.” A GM press release also notes that the 2020 Silverado Rally Edition represents “another way Chevrolet is offering the perfect truck for every customer, regardless of need.”
The 2020 Silverado Rally Edition will be offered on the Custom and RST trims and in Black, Red Hot, Silver Ice Metallic or Summit White exterior paint. Unique content includes:
- Body-colored grille
- Black Rally stripes on the hood and tailgate
- Black Chevrolet tailgate lettering
- Black badging
- Black Bowties
- Black exhaust tip(s)
- Black assist steps
- 20-inch black painted wheels on Custom
- 22-inch black painted wheels on RST
On the Custom trim level, the 2020 Silverado Rally Edition is powered by the turbo-charged 2.7L L3B engine mated to the GM 8-speed automatic transmission, with the combination making 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque.
On the RST trim level, the Silverado Rally Edition is offered with three engine choices:
- Turbo-charged 2.7L I-4 L3B and 8-speed automatic transmission making 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque
- Naturally-aspirated 5.3L V-8 L84 and 8-speed automatic transmission making
- Naturally-aspirated 6.2L V-8 L87 and 10-speed automatic transmission making
“Whether at auto shows, local car shows or on the road, people turn their heads when they see our special edition trucks,” adds Sobczynski. “Our dealers often put these special editions at the front of their lot because they attract people into the store and draw attention to the entire truck lineup.”
The 2020 Silverado Rally Edition will be available for order next month and will arrive at dealerships later in 2019. In addition to the Silverado Rally Edition, Chevrolet also announced the 2020 Silverado Midnight Edition.

So can someone explain to me why the diesel isn’t offered on these trim levels? I would take a rally edition diesel or even a custom.
I suspect that it’s related to production constraints of the diesel. We might see expanded availability over the coming years.
Instead Of Wasting All Their Time Creating These Special Editions They Should Take The Time To Re-Design That Horrible Cheap Looking Interior With The Post Card Size Navigation Screen And The Simulated Pregnant C-Section In The Middle Of The Dash
Haven’t you heard?
http://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/08/updated-gm-truck-interiors-to-be-top-notch/
The interior updates are coming. Whether or not they’re as necessary as your state is a different matter entirely. These special editions are far from a waste of time because they sell and they attract buyers. They’re also relatively easy to bring to market. So a waste of time? I think not.
As for the interior, it isn’t bad, really. Compare it to the old Ram interior (all GM had to go off of at the time of development) and the F-150 interior, and it really is quite exceptional. No one foresaw Ram really throwing it out there on their redesign when it came to the interior. It takes some time to redesign an interior; they have to redesign the HVAC system, design new controls, work with suppliers, etc.
If GM would have put a 30 inch screen it……people would have still complained. but then the complaints would have gone the other way.
This site would have been full of garbage from the usual suspects…..
“This is girls truck with the big screen”
“GM is trying to copy Tesla LOL”
“That @$%rag Mary Barra made this a tampon truck with a fancy screen”
“What are you gonna do when it breaks??”
Wash, rinse repeat……
The complainers are like the Energizer Bunny…..
They keep moaning and moaning and moaning and moaning and moaning……
Watching this review, you will find that not everyone hates the interior. Could it be better? Sure. Especially for a new from the ground up truck, but the rest of it is great.
I think it would have been nice to have that Rst street concept truck add to these special editions maybe ALEX you can maybe find out if that could be something in the future especially if it was performance driven truck
No V6 availability at all? The LS style 4.3 is a hell of an engine.
It keeps my boat in place well. The NHV is just horrible in today’s market when a cheap V8 is much better.
Hmmm……I was curious about that so I Googled GM LV3 NVH complaints and guess what I found.
NOTHING.
Then I Googles LV3 complaints in general and I still couldn’t find anything.
Now I know the GMAuthority sometimes operates in different dimensions and realities based on the crazy garbage some people post here.
Maybe in your world the LV3 has NVH issues, but on my planet it seems to be pretty solid engine.
Oh well…..
This is based on first hand experience.
I have owned two 4.3 engines the last in my 3500 pound 2wd Sonoma. It was 193 hp. Even with a balance shaft it was rough as are most 90 degree V6 engines.
Compared to my smooth 3.6 4500 pound Canyon crew 4×4 with 308 hp there is no choice. It is smoother and gets 21 mpg over the last 12,000 miles.
Also the full size trucks with the latest version is not much better with so so mpg and still is not as smooth as the 60 degree engine.
The 4.3 was engineered to be cheap to build. That it is as it still shares parts with the V8 but it still pays a price for the savings and has not kept up with newer clean sheet engines.
My co worker just dumped his 4.3 Sierra for a new V8. He got tired of the noise and roughness.
In my world we have driven better and expect better.
Some people just don’t know what better is.
If you can’t affords better engine the 4.3 is better than walking, but for a few dollars more the V8 is a no brained.
Oh well……
Let me be the first to break this to you, but the 4.3 in the Sonoma you had and the Ecotec 4.3 in the new trucks.
2 totally different engines.
At least in my world they are.
Hey look, you learned something new today!
Or maybe be not……
Either way….
Tah-dah!
Please note my complaint on the new trucks too as they are still not right as 90 degrees are not how you build a proper V6 engine. It needs to be in line or 60 degree.
Based on the comments you have no clue on the engineering prinicpals of a 90 degre engine. They only exist to save money.
My friends truck was still no where near what it should have been and not even close to my 3.6 in efficency or NHV.
The 90 degree V6 is just a cost savings engine with band aids from an engineering point. 60 degree and around 3.0 liters yeild the best harmonics and efficency for a V6 engine.
The 4.3 is still based on today V8 though it has been changed it still suffers the 90 degree issues. You can’t change that with unless you change the geometry of the engine. That has still not been addressed. Be it Vortec or Ecotech the name does not change the geometry.
Maybe you learned something other than the seat of the pants thinking. Well maybe not.
If you would like to find me any real world complaints about NVH besides yourself and your fantasy “friends” complaints……
I’ll wait here. You let me know.
Also, please provide me your engineering qualifications?
Are you a member of the SAE?

The Chevy V-6 is also less refined than its bigger brother, the 5.3-liter V-8, which is a $1095 option on LT trims and standard on LTZ models. It’s much coarser, too, than Chrysler’s polished Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6, the minivan motor that’s found its way under the hood of Ram pickups and is the standard-bearer in the entry-level V-6 pickup class that also includes the F-150’s 3.7-liter. A single balance shaft can’t keep the Silverado V-6 from shaking a bit at idle, and vibrations can be felt through both the gas pedal and steering wheel while accelerating. The workmanlike six-speed automatic shared by all new Silverado models also lacks the seamlessness of the Ram’s eight-speed.
Not my opinion but Car and Driver on the intro of the Eco 4.3
The bottom line is this. This is a fine engine for a base truck or fleet sales but not for an upscale packge as it needs to be better than it is. Some people may settle but most don’t when you get to the higher level trims.
Have been ASE cert and I am involved with he SAE through work and attending seminars and training through them and recieve their publications.
I am ok if you disagree as you have the right to differ in opinion as much as I do.
Note in a story in the SAE magazine not long ago the interview with a GM engineer predicted the death of the 2 valve engine in the near future if regulations were not relaxed. He stated it was going to be very difficult to meet these reg in the 2 valve config.
Right now they are using off cycle credits to keep some of these engines alive. Things like Fuel managment with the cylinder drops are helping but these loop holes can close fast too. Same for stop start etc.
It is a great looking truck. Now how about some real suspension tweaks and some engine enhancements.
At least a rear sway bar since this really is not an off road package.
Lots of lightning nut no thunder.
The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado Rally Edition should make buyers feel a bit ‘SAD’ because this special edition was essentially accomplished with a couple of cans of Black paint; there’s no special suspension components or tweaks to the engine as minus the Black ascents on this Silverado.. it’s no different than any other Silverado with the same size tires and wheels (I can hear General Motors CEO Mary Barra laughing in the background and saying ‘Suckers’).
So basically like every Special Edition since the dawn of time then…….
Excuse me while I go drool over the masterpiece of high performance that is the Accord “Sport”…..
You’d spray paint your brand new truck? wtf?
These are buzz models, which people seem to eat up.
Not as nice as the midnight edition in my opinion but I guess there is something for everyone. I would definitely go for the 6.2L V8 over the small turbo.
I expect to see a lot of these in Los Angeles, if I ever go there.
Very, very nice….make this available in the extended cab model and I’ll try my very best to be first in line to order….GM …..PLEASE….reconsider and begin production now….otherwise there just may be a FORD in my future…..they continue with their extended cab model……
Make the RS model available in the short bed also
Will the 2020 RST Rally be available with the 6.2L in 2WD version or only 4WD?
