We’ve rendered the 2020 Silverado Midnight Edition before – not once, but twice. And now, it’s finally official, as Chevrolet has just announced the new special edition model at the State Fair of Texas.
“Customer choice is a competitive advantage for Chevrolet, because no two truck drivers are alike,” said Silverado marketing manager Mark Sobczynski. “Special editions offer our customers a custom look direct from the factory that fits their unique personality.” Meanwhile, a GM presser adds that the 2020 Silverado Midnight Edition represents “another way Chevrolet is offering the perfect truck for every customer, regardless of need.”
The off-road focused 2020 Silverado Midnight Edition will be available on the LT Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss trim levels, which pair a 2-inch factory suspension lift and Z71 Off Road Package with Rancho mono-tube off-road shocks, an automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, 18-inch black painted wheels and Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires. The Midnight Edition equipment adds an all-black approach, including:
- Black Silverado badging
- Black grille
- Black Bowties
- Black bumpers
- Black exhaust tips
- Black off-road assist steps
- Red recovery hooks
The Silverado Custom Trail Boss Midnight Edition is available with either the 5.3L V-8 L82 engine (355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque) mated to GM’s six-speed automatic transmission or the 6.2L V-8 L87 engine (420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque) mated to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission. The LT Trail Boss Midnight Edition comes exclusively with 6.2L V-8 L87 engine mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission. What’s more, the LT Trail Boss Midnight Edition gets unique High-Intensity LED headlamps with dark bezels and full-curtain signature daytime running lamps.
“Whether at auto shows, local car shows or on the road, people turn their heads when they see our special edition trucks,” adds Sobczynski. “Our dealers often put these special editions at the front of their lot because they attract people into the store and draw attention to the entire truck lineup.”
The 2020 Silverado Midnight Edition will be available for order next month and will arrive at dealerships later in 2019. In addition to the Silverado Midnight Edition, Chevrolet also announced the 2020 Silverado Rally Edition.

More of the same but with red hooks.
It’s a black Trail Boss with the offroad steps, black Silverado badging, and black exhaust tips. Everything else they listed is going to be standard on a Trail Boss anyway. This doesn’t sound like anything special. I was thinking that the Midnight Edition would have been an RST.
Looks great, this will generate big sales. People like the blacked out look.
What about Cab-bed configs? I would like to see a new Realtree edition available in other colors besides black and in other Cab-Bed configs besides Crew Cab-Short Box.
I am happy to hear that I just wish they would start offering trucks with more content than just an appearance package
That is my point!
2020s are allowing the 6.2 / 10 speed combo on Trailboss and RST models. That’s a big change. I’m expecting a nice update for 2021
One of the best looking trucks I have seen. Haters gonna hate.
They’re catering to nearly everyone. I don’t see any sport versions. The last truck was the colorado xtreme or Tacoma xrunner
Not offering a midnight or chrome delete on LTZ is pretty bone headed. Lots of people want RST look with ALL of the options….
I spotted one thing in chrome; the big engine trucks have a 6.2L badge on the hood. Zoom in on the pic and you can see it. Gotta let people know what you have under there.
I have two 2019 Sierra’s. Both with the 6.2. My AT4 has the 6.2L badge on the side but my wife’s X31 Texas edition has the Texas edition badge instead. I don’t like that.
You know what I was looking at YouTube an this is already out it’s just a black trail boss
Will it be offered on a diesel
