2020 Corvette Features Automatic Window Opening Via Key Fob

As if it weren’t already obvious, we’re loving all the cool little details on the all-new 2020 Corvette C8, from the toothy hood design, to the different roof options, to the engine free-rev feature. Now we’re taking a look at something that adds a little convenience to the all-new mid-engine sports car – automatic window opening via the key fob.
This is how it works: owners simply need to grab their key fob, and assuming they are within close-enough proximity to their 2020 Corvette, hold down the unlock button. With that, the car’s windows will automatically lower.
While not as exciting as, say, a quarter mile time or top speed run, the automatic window lowering feature on the 2020 Corvette will definitely be appreciated when the mercury rises, where any extra time saved allowing warm air to escape the cabin is key to having a comfortable cabin.
Granted, this feature isn’t really all that unique, as we’ve seen it elsewhere in the GM product portfolio and within the Chevrolet lineup prior to the C8. Other manufacturers have it, too. However, the feature was not present in the outgoing-generation, Corvette C7, so it’s more noteworthy for the Corvette.
We recently exclusively profiled the 2020 Corvette C8 key fob following the model’s introduction in Tustin, California. The key fob comes in two different styles – one with a shiny Corvette crossed-flag logo, and a Carbon Flash (gray) crossed flag logo. The different treatments are meant to differentiate the keys for different drivers, as each fob is associated to unique settings for the seat memory function.
The key fob for the 2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe has six buttons, with the door lock and unlock buttons along the top, the front trunk (or “frunk”) plus trunk releases in the middle, and a horn and lights / panic button along the bottom. There’s also a big round button between the top four buttons for remotely starting the engine.
It’s also worth noting that the Chevrolet Corvette C7 convertible offers a feature that enables owners to automatically open the foldable roof via the key fob. We believe a similar feature will be offered with the upcoming C8 Convertible, which will be revealed October 2nd. As such, the key fob for the 2020 Corvette Convertible likely have an addition button to control the convertible top.

Using a bit of artificial intelligence.. programming a C8 Corvette to roll up windows besides locking doors and trunk lids once the owner walks 7-10 feet from the car; having the AC turn on when the driver comes within 5 feet after sensors tell the interior of the car is uncomfortably warm.
you don’t need AI for that. those are just simple rules.
… which the BMW X5 has in 2000….
motor trend listed this as well as 5 other features that might be overlooked on the c8.

Our ’14 Base model F250 has this feature, as does almost every other GM vehicle we own. Nothing special.
