Watch This Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE Attempt The Half-Mile: Video

In this video, we get to watch a stock 2019 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE stretch its legs at the half-mile. With an output of 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque from its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 LT4 engine, it certainly has enough power to put up a decent trap speed. In fact, the Camaro ZL1 1LE is able to run the 1/4-mile in 11.7 seconds at 123 miles per hour.
Chevrolet never released an official half-mile trap speed for the Camaro ZL1 1LE. However, we do know that the pony car is capable of hitting 190 miles per hour when given enough road.
The following data is provided in the description of the video:

In the end, this Camaro ZL1 1LE hits “just” 141.692 miles per hour. Yes, we say “just” because we think the high-performance coupe is capable of trapping a higher speed than that in the half mile. Interestingly, we’ve seen Camaro ZL1 models trap low to mid-150s in the half-mile, though those runs don’t provide any track data. With all that said, this Camaro-crazed author is just going to have to put his money where his mouth is and trap a higher speed in his own Camaro ZL1 1LE at a half-mile event. Stay tuned for that.

Love the ZL1 1LE’s. Absolutely beautiful, fantastic cars!
Best Camaro to date, I love my 2018 Wicked Whitey.
How about staying into it the whole 1/2 mile. This guy missed 4th gear as you could hear in the video and then right about 130 it’s clear he let off the throttle. You can tell by the speedometer and you can see he easily had 1/10 of a mile left. This car could eat 150+ in a 1/2 mile possibly faster with the right speed shifter driving……
Agreed, Even the start was poor for a timed run.
Sure hope they add push button start and Homelink to the “twins”!!! Would be GREAT to see this in model year 2020…no later than 2021 model year. At least offer as options!
I love the ZL1 and have considered it as new car. HOWEVER, I would have expected much better than 141 mph in the 1/2 mile.
March 13 at WannaGOFAST in Ocala Florida 1/2 mile I did 14 runs in my 2014 Jaguar F type and consistently hit 140 mph+ My best speed of the 14 runs was 144.000 mph.
My first time so I know that I will do better next time. Also surprisingly beat a lot of other cool cars. For example a couple of Hellcats. However, the complaints from the Hellcat drivers who had Manual gearboxes was of the time/speed they lost while shifting gears. Probably the issue with this ZL1 too, I would guess.
A lot of fun though.
Driver issues, car is faster I have 6 speed gearbox I stay up with 10 speed auto. Top end that’s mine on the tarmac !
It would be interesting to watch the 10 speed auto vs 6 speed manual, on the same track. My money would be on the 10 speed auto I think. That 10 speed is supposed to be almost as fast as a dual clutch..
Go to your local track on Camaro day and see, it’s more about driver than, I’ll be happy to take your money, lots of big faces ! Lol
Why would you care about 1/2 mile pulls in the 1LE? If you are interested in top end, the ZL1 is the way to go. 1LE is made for the track. IMHO….
I have a 2018 ZL1-1LE and have tracked it with the stock tires at Putnam Park (Indiana), was running 1-16’s the first day barely losing track position to my friends Z06 on slicks. I wore those tires out that day at the track with 2 tanks of fuel. He would get me in the long straightaway but not in the turns. The second time I took it to the track on Continental Extreme Contact Summer Tires, best I could get was 1-20’s but it was just as fun, just not as sticky as the stock tires. The 1LE is not only a fast car but more important is how it feels to drive it on a track; the steering and balance are amazing. I drove my friend’s new 2019 Porsche GT3 and found it no more fun to drive than the 1LE and definitely no faster. I drive mine as a daily driver. I hear people say it is too rough as a daily driver. BULL!! I am 65 and I love the visceral feel of it, the amenities that are standard, and the solid ride! I could drive this all day no problem. My wife loves riding in it too! Get you one!! My plan is to wear hard on this one until I get a new Corvette in a couple of years. This one will look great sitting next to a new Vette, but the 1LE will never be sold. I’m going to wear it out!!
