Here Are The Optional 2020 Silverado 1500 Towing Mirrors

I recently moved 500 miles to Southern California, trailering my personal car behind a massive 20-foot moving truck filled to the brim with stuff. The journey taught me many things, not the least of which was the importance of having the right mirrors while towing. No surprise then that Chevy offers the option for upgraded 2020 Silverado 1500 towing mirrors. Now, we’re getting our first glimpse of what these new mirrors look on the light-duty pickup.
We covered just about everything there’s to know about the 2020 Silverado 1500 towing mirrors last month, but now we’re finally seeing what they look like. First impressions reveal the vertical towing mirrors look quite a bit like those on the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD, with a chunky, three-tier design that swings out wide from the truck’s body. However, we’ve confirmed with Chevrolet that the 1500’s vertical trailer mirrors are indeed different from those equipped on the Silverado HD.
In front, the mirrors come with integrated turn signals, including two horizontal indicators stacked up on top of one another. The backside glass shows two separate sections, including standard upper glass, and a convex lower glass section that lets the driver see blind spots.
Standard features vary depending on trim level. For WT, RST, LT and LT Trail Boss models, the vertical trailering mirror function is tagged with RPO code DPO, while the mirrors for the LTZ and High Country get RPO code DQS. Compare and contrast the features of both below:
2020 Silverado 1500 Towing Mirrors (WT, RST, LT, LT Trail Boss)
- Black mirror caps
- Outside power-adjustable
- Heated upper glass
- Lower convex mirrors
- Integrated turn signal indicators
- Auxiliary lighting
- Manual folding/manual extending
- Clearance lamps
2020 Silverado 1500 Towing Mirrors (LTZ, High Country)
- Chrome mirror caps
- Outside power-adjustable
- Heated and auto-dimming upper glass
- Lower convex mirrors
- Integrated turn signal indicators
- Auxiliary lighting
- Power folding/manual extending
- Puddle lamps
- Perimeter lighting
Pricing varies depending on the trim level, with some trim levels pricing the feature at $260, and others requiring the addition of a $3,000 package.
Meanwhile, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500’s standard mirrors are smaller, horizontally oriented units, the functionality of which vary depending on trim level.

Having tow mirrors is a really nice thing to have while towing (although design needs getting used to). But having 23 gallon tank and no option for a bigger one is a fiasco.
AGREED!! Why the hell do tanks just keep getting smaller?!? I love the increased MPG, but can’t we also have increased range as well? Tank size was another major selling point for me when I bought my truck. My LD still has the bigger 26. Our new ’19 WT gets about 14 with the 4.3. The guy who drives it is at the gas station sometimes twice a week. Even 6 more gallons would make a difference. (little off-topic, but I love how the XT5 has a 21 Gallon tank. The car has said i’ve had up to 700 miles of estimated range before. I never drove enough highway on one tank to test it though).
Also, I just want to ask why GM decided to put the mirrors on the door yet they still put a blank piece of plastic where the mirror used to be? Can’t we have a little bit bigger of a window? Or better yet (but highly unlikely), a vent window??
i have a 2019 1500 gmc will they come out with towing mirror for them
If it’s the all-new T1 model, then you can retrofit these new towing mirrors to them.
When is that going to come out in writing, as of now, Chevy says they don’t fit!
Once again a car company fouls things up with their “trim levels”. I want the “High Country 2500HD”. I don’t want the chrome on the mirrors. (Just like I hate the chrome on the bumpers of the LTZ that is missing on both higher and lower trims.)
There Gm go again selling customers short they should be the same across all trim levels or at least let you have the option on the lower trims why do gm act like it a privilege to have the latest design an you still have to manual extend wtf
thanks for the idea, Ram
Once again, a company selling you what they want you to have, not what you, the customer, want to buy. Screw you!
i bought a ltz with the max tow package these mirrors should be standard
these items come in packages so GM knows how many of each they should commited to buy from the different suppliers.
I have a 2019, I regret not waiting until I could get tow mirrors, or just getting a ram instead. That said, I’ll probably upgrade to these mirrors. Any idea if the correct wiring will be there in an LT to add the mirrors with turn signals, heat and power fold? currently all I have are heated mirrors…
Any idea where we can purchase tow mirrors for my 2019 Chev Silverado 1500 RST
Chevy part # is 84776100
bolt right up and power mirrors work fine, the lighting options not working but overall I’m happy with them on my 2019 RST
Can you send a picture And is it a 1/2 ton pickup
Do the tow mirrors you identified power fold.
First, my dealer told me that unless you get the tow mirrors installed at the factory, you were SOL. Now I’m hearing that there won’t be any installed for 2020 models and they won’t be available to purchase as parts until sometime after the new year. TOTAL BS! This makes 2 years in a row now that tow mirrors were unavailable for 1500’s. I’m either going to get the trailer camera or aftermarket mirrors once they become available. POOR marketing GM!
Does anyone know if it is possible to electronically fold exterior mirrors for a 2020 Silverado, trail boss?
I can”t believe GM would sail you a 2019 1500 Silverado with a towing package on it but they didn’t intend for you to be able to add them on. I bought a set of OEM tow mirrors from a local dealer who assured me if I also bought the updated door harnesses and have it reprogramed that blinkers and everything would work. Then I found out from a dealer in FL that they never work GM never intended 2019 to ever have towing mirrors WTF why put a trailoring package on a truck and mislead the customer if I would have known I would have bought a 2500 HD LTZ and been done with it
Thanks a lot GM I will not buy from you again
Boast auto parts has the wiring harness for the blinkers. heat and mirror control should already work

What part, specifically, is different on the mirrors themselves? I’m switching back and forth between pictures of the 1500 and HD, and the only thing I can see that’s different is the mount (slightly smaller on the 1500).
It’s a GM secret. They want you to let them install and charge you up the wazoo!
I’m new to GM so having looked at their options or more specifically how you can option a truck , I have to say I’m disappointed. Why cant I get what I want GM ? This is unfortunately led me to look elsewhere. I hate companies that just do what they wanna do with no regard for customers.
Feel GM is doing their loyalcuztomers an injustice pay ALOT of money for our trucks and GM just wants to rake us over the coles! From accessories to , apps to onstar. If this doesn’t change, my next truck will be a Ford or dodge!!
GM can kiss my Ass!
Just bought a late build 2021 GMC 1500 Denali that had stock mirrors. Wanted to add the tow mirrors RPO code DQS (power folding, chrome mirror caps) but no can do unless the truck was ordered from the factory with them. Only option for dealer install is the RPO code DPO (manual folding, black mirror caps). Both are manual extending. You would think the power folding/power extending mirrors on the 2500HD would be available and pre-wired for all 1500/2500/3500 GMC and Chevy trucks with an option for chrome or black mirror caps. This would reduce inventory part numbers and costs. This isn’t rocket science, GM needs to really get their act together.
Does anyone know anything about these mirrors for the 2020 Silverado? Do they fit? Will the stock harness work anything at all on the mirror or will I still have to buy a new harness and have it all reprogrammed? I should have thought farther ahead when I bought this truck. I like Silverado’s but this model just has too damned many bugs…..

I have a 2020 RST with a 6.2 engine. Car mirrors came standard. Dealer tells me there are no available tow mirrors if you have blind spot alert in the car mirrors. Has anyone found mirrors that will replace these dumb car mirrors
Hi does anyone know if the stock towing mirrors on a 2020 RST would work on a 2020 custom trail boss? Thx
