Chevrolet Discounts Cruze By $3,000 In August 2019

Chevrolet Cruze sales decreased 57 percent to 16,166 units in the second quarter, unsurprising results given that the vehicle has been discontinued. And now, a new Chevrolet discount reduces the price of the compact car by a not-insignificant $3,000 during the month of August 2019.
The Incentive
Nationwide Chevrolet discounts on the Cruze are as follows in August 2019:
- 2019 Cruze (excluding L models) – $750 cash allowance when financing with GM Financial + $2,250 customer cash = $3,000 cash allowance
- 2019 Cruze (excluding L models) – $500 APR Cash + 0 percent APR (interest-free) for 60 months when financing through GM Financial
Potential buyers should note that the above discounts are not applicable to base L models.
For reference, here are the 2019 Cruze trim levels and their corresponding starting MSRPs:
- Sedan
- L – $18,870
- LS – $19,995
- LT – $22,595
- Premier – $24,395
- Diesel – $26,495
- Hatch
- LS – $20,495
- LT – $22,995
- Premier – $24,895
- Diesel – $26,995
As such, the $3,000 Chevrolet discount brings the starting price of the 2018 Cruze Premier sedan to $18,014, which is lower than the price of the LS model.
It’s highly likely that the purpose of the discount is to sell out any existing Cruze inventory and to close the book on the Cruze chapter altogether, which is a rather sad circumstance.

About Chevrolet Cruze
The Chevrolet Cruze is a range of compact passenger cars that currently consists of a four-door sedan and five-door hatchback. It slots above the Chevrolet Spark city car and subcompact Chevrolet Sonic and below the midsize Chevrolet Malibu and full-size Chevrolet Impala. The current model was introduced for the 2016 model year and represents the second generation of the Cruze nameplate. It rides on the GM D2 platform shared with the second-generation Chevrolet Volt and Buick Verano (in China).
Compared to its first-generation predecessor, the second-gen model is an all-new vehicle that is slightly larger, sleeker and more modern. The first-generation Cruze family was produced in sedan, hatchback, and wagon body styles, but only the sedan was available in North America. By comparison, the second-generation model is available only as a sedan and hatchback. Though a wagon variant of the second-gen model was never produced, the hatchback model became available in North America. The second-generation Cruze received a midcycle enhancement, otherwise known as a facelift, refresh or update, for the 2019 model year that consists of updated exterior styling, a new Chevrolet infotainment system, and new interior colors.
The Cruze is produced across the following GM plants globally:
- GM Lordstown plant in Lordstown, Ohio, USA assembling the Cruze sedan supplying North America
- GM Ramos plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico assembling the Cruze hatchs upplying North America
- GM Rosario plant in Argentina assembling the Cruze sedan and Cruze hatch (called Cruze6) supplying Latin America
- GM Norsom II plant in China assembling the Cruze sedan and Cruze hatchback satisfying China
- GM Gunsan plant in South Korea supplying Eurasia as Holden Astra Sedan (this facility was closed in 2018, and Cruze production no longer takes place here)
In November 2018, General Motors announced that it will discontinue the Chevrolet Cruze, along with five other passengers cars. The move will see the vehicle discontinued globally, while resulting in the idling of the Lordstown plant in Warren, Ohio. The model is set to be discontinued in the first quarter of 2019.

I just purchased a 2019 Cruze Hatchback RS. I owned a 2017 RS and consistently got over 39 mpg driving back roads to work. It is an amazing car. Quiet, quick and sporty. I told myself when it wore out, I’d get another. When the 2019 refresh came, I preferred the blacked out window surrounds, black bowtie and the better appearing larger wheels on the RS package. It even has auto A/C and rear park assist. When the announcement came that they were discontinuing the car in November 2018, I kept checking inventory and discounts for the right time to purchase.
Same here I purchased a 2019 hatchback RS in Cajun red in July.. I love it , wish they continued making them at other factory along side something else.
I purchased a 19 Cruze LS in November 18. True my model doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but that’s OK. I really love the 16″ wheels and stop start disable switch. The car rides nice and the engine is super quiet. Yes there’s more road noise than I would like but it’s not a Lexus. And the front end is without question the best looking on the market. My last car I bought new in 03 and drove it 16 years, so I got my money’s worth. Plus trading in cars is always a losing venture, so I’ll be driving this car a long time.
