Buick Discount Cuts LaCrosse Price By 16 Percent In August 2019

Buick LaCrosse sales decreased 39 percent to 2,487 units in the second quarter of 2019, results that correlate with GM’s decision to discontinue the vehicle as consumers continue to flock to crossovers at the expense of sedans. So, in what is clearly an effort to liquidate existing inventory, a new Buick discount takes 16 percent off the full-size premium sedan in August 2019, which can add up to a discount of nearly $7,000 in some cases. However, unlike the Buick discount offer in June, which was available to GM owners, this month’s offer is exclusive to current owners of non-GM vehicles.
The Incentive
The nationwide Buick discount on the 2019 LaCrosse is 16 percent below MSRP for current owners of non-GM vehicles when financing with GM Financial. To qualify, a buyer must be a current owner of a 2005 or newer non-GM vehicle.
This deal is applicable to all 2019 Buick LaCrosse models except for the base (1SV) model. For reference, here are the 2019 Buick LaCrosse models and their respective MSRPs:
- Preferred – $34,595
- Essence – $37,295
- Premium – $39,595
- Sport Touring – $40,295
- Avenir – $45,795
When the offer is applied to a LaCrosse Premium model with an MSRP of $41,840, the MSRP decreases by nearly $7,000 using the following incentives: $1,359 price reduction below MSRP + $5,335 purchase allowance = $6,694 total discount.
As we mentioned, it seems that GM’s purpose with the discount is to move existing inventory while also conquesting customers of competing vehicles.

About Buick LaCrosse
The Buick LaCrosse is a full-size premium sedan that slots above the compact Buick Verano and midsize Buick Regal. The current, third-generation LaCrosse was introduced for the 2017 model year. The vehicle is based on the long wheelbase variant of the GM E2 platform. The short-wheelbase variant of the same platform is shared with the sixth-generation Buick Regal and ninth-generation Chevrolet Malibu.
The 2018 model introduced several new colors and the GM 9-speed automatic transmission in place of the 2017 model's 8-speed. It also added a new standard powertrain in the form of the mild-hybrid 2.5L engine with eAssist coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the 2018 LaCrosse Avenir was introduced to serve as the range-topping model.
The 2019 LaCrosse introduced two new colors and a Sport Touring (1SH) trim. A refresh is expected for the 2020 model year.
The third-generation LaCrosse is built at the following plants:
- GM Detroit Hamtramck factory operated by GM USA supplying North America
- Jinqiao South factory operated by Shanghai GMÂ supplying China
In November 2018, General Motors announced that it will discontinue the Buick LaCrosse in the United States market, a move that will result in the idling of the Detroit-Hamtramck plant where it's built. The vehicle will remain available in China.

Build the incentive to favor non-GM owners. Just one last slap in the face to loyal Buick Lacrosse owners.
non- GM owners !!!! are you kidding –I was in the market for a 2020 Lacrosse to upgrade from my 2010 can Buick help me with that ( NO ) , I don’t want a SUV , and the rest of the Buick line is ( FOREIGN ) . these sad decisions are from the incompetence of the deranged MARY and her cronies . AS far as I’m concerned GOOD-BYE BUICK
why in world GM didn’t take the Lacrosse and drop the price 10 to 20 percent and market it towards Accord and Camry buyer’s is beyond me. its defiantly a better car but for some reason GM never did market these cars very well.
Question:
If Car company offers an “Employee-Only Discount”, shouldn’t that discount be considered a taxable benefit?
