GM’s Chinese-market Baojun brand continues its transformation by premiering a new platform, completely revamping its image and introducing a serial of all-new models. After showing off the RS-5 compact SUV, followed by the the RC-6 midsize liftback and the RM-5 MPV, the next chapter of the brand’s renaissance is the Baojun RS-3.
The RS-3 is the fourth vehicle of Baojun’s transformation, and is also the second member of the brand’s crossover utility family wearing the RS nomenclature. GM Authority hereby presents the very first images and information that just leaked about all-new Baojun RS-3.
Aesthetically speaking, the all-new Baojun RS-3 has a fresh look that adopts the brand’s latest design language. The front end of the new utility is quite similar to all of Baojun’s latest utilities thanks to the large grille and the use of divided headlights.
This configuration consists of LED strips featuring the daytime running lights that double as the signature accent lights. These are followed by the primary headlights, which are embedded into the middle section of the front end.
At the side, the Baojun RS-3 features a high belt line, well-defined wheel arches and dark pillars to accentuate the “floating roof” – which will be offered in white.
Meanwhile, the rear end of the small crossover features a rather striking design. The dual-level lighting elements seen at the front carry over into the rear, where two horizontal LED strips sit above the vertical tail lights below. The horizontal lights are connected by a black trim piece, which houses the new BAOJUN typeface and accentuates the vehicle’s sense of width.
The RS-3 measures in at 169.3 inches in length, 68.9 inches in width and 64 inches in height. The wheelbase comes in at 100.4 inches.
The wheelbase measurement leads us to believe that the Baojun RS-3 likely uses the GM Gamma II platform, since the first-generation Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore feature an identical wheelbase length.
The new crossover will be powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5L base engine making 103 horsepower. A 1.2L Turbo engine making 130 horsepower will be optional. Both can be coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic CVT.
It is expected that the next Baojun RS-3 will be officially revealed before the end of 2019, and will launch in China during the first quarter of 2020. With the arrival of this strategic entry, Baojun is undoubtedly looking for higher growth rates as it renews its efforts to become the best-selling brand in the Chinese market.

Baogun is now making better looking vehicles than any other GM brand. Chevrolet NA should be selling these designs. Maybe GM should revive Saturn and sell these designs there.
You didn’t look at the photo of the rear, did you?
Well this commie company can afford to do crazy designs since they don’t have much work to really do! They get free GM technology basically.
Put a Cadillac Badge on the front and a battery in the back and you’ll have the new line-up of Cadillacs for the next 10 years.
For people not in the know, MG and Baojun owned by SAIC Motors, and the MG Hector is basically the re-engineered Baojun 530 SUV. Baojun has now launched the all-new RS-3 compact SUV in the Chinese market.
I think it’s a commendable new design that has made a change in the design of this model
