Similar to its corporate Chevrolet-branded corporate cousin, the 2020 Silverado 1500, the 2020 Sierra 1500 enters the GMC lineup for the second model year of the all-new, fourth-generation model. Major updates include the availability of the CarbonPro Edition carbon-fiber bed, as well as the introduction for the 3.0L LM2 inline six-cylinder turbodiesel Duramax engine. The GM 10-speed automatic transmission is now offered on more trim levels well. And when it comes to the paint options, the 2020 Sierra 1500 changes just one color, replacing Smokey Quartz Metallic color option with the new Carbon Black Metallic paint.
The 2020 Sierra will replace Smokey Quartz Metallic (paint code GS6) with Carbon Black Metallic paint (paint code GCI). The new color, however, will only become available in the second quarter of 2020.
The rest of the 2020 Sierra paint lineup is identical to that of the preceding 2019 model year Sierra. With that in mind, the 2020 Sierra paint lineup includes the following hues (paint code listed in parentheses):
- White Frost Tricoat (G1W)
- Deep Mahogany Metallic (G2X)
- Cardinal Red (G7C)
- Satin Steel Metallic (G9K)
- Pacific Blue Metallic (GA0)
- Quicksilver Metallic (GAN)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- Onyx Black (GBA)
- Dark Sky Metallic (GJI)
- Red Quartz Tintcoat (GPJ)
- Stone Blue Metallic (G1K)
- Dark Slate Metallic (GPA)
- Ebony Twilight Metallic (GB8)
The new color is an extra-cost hue, and it is available across all 2020 Sierra 1500 interior color combinations and trim levels, except for the Sierra base 1SA model.
2020 Sierra 1500 trim levels:
- Base
- SLE
- Elevation
- SLT
- AT4
- Denali
2020 Sierra 1500 interior colors:
- Dark Walnut with Slate
- Jet Black with Kalahari
- Dark Walnut with Dark Ash Grey
- Jet Black

When are the 2020s expected to be available? Would really love to price out a 6.2 AT4/Trailboss to see if the shoe fits the wallet
They have already released the price will be the same as the 6.2L engine option so your looking at $56K in a crew cab.
Here ya go – https://www.gmc.com/build-and-price
August 5 is the first day of 2020 production for Sierra and Silverado crew and double cab. Regular cab is August 12
Wow so they replaced grey with another black. How exciting!
It was actually more of a brown color tone
You want black or black?
You can have any color you want as long as it is black.. oh, wait.. that was another maker. They had a Smokey Quartz Metallic on the showroom floor when I ordered my 2019 GMC Sierra Denali and I said “WHY?”, but I went way out on a limb and ordered the White Frost Tricoat with the plain Jet Black leather interior, and I could not be happier. I did “black-out” the red GMC logos on front and back as well as the wheel center hubs though.
Less is more for Gm what about that big celebration saying that this generation was going to have so many options an u can choose the truck you want with the way they going this is one of the reasons just one of why we want move out of 3 place
2020…Why… Y…. are we changing colors and havn’t even brought out the HD 3500 dually! When will we see build AND price out. Are or is GM counting on all those customers that will sit and wait? If you wait you will find YOUR customers looking for other brands as they want a truck. Brand loyalty is being stretched almost to the point of departure of loyal customers. You have made a high media roll out event you (as in GM) also enhance, make promises, increase prices and yet cannot get the darn thing produced. How long before 3500 Dually is released. Maybe it cannot meet Fed spec for all that increased weights?

Really needs another interior option color, need cocoa dune back
I totally agree. Who approved that slate gray???? I wanted the coco dune colors.
Chuck
I went to trade my 2016 Sierra 1500 last October and was completely turned off by the ugly interiors, I left the dealer with a new 2018 SLT Red Quartz Tricoat with Cocoa Dune. I will not consider trading again until they upgrade interior and bring back Cocoa Dune. My next truck might just be another brand.
I totally agree….have Coco-dune in my 17 and love it
They’d be better off offering styling options, cause damn that truck is coy-dog ugly
Ya Smokey Quartz is way to exciting of a paint to go with the very boring 4th gen truck…….better stick with whites and blacks as to not attract any attention or buyers.
Some clown gets a paid a lot of $$ to make these dumb a$$ choices which the saddest part.
do we really need 13 color exterior choices and then have only 4 interior ???????
What does it matter ? GM is dropping one drab dreary color and replacing it with a different drab dreary color. When will all manufacturers start offering a choice of some brighter colors? Look in the grocery parking lot and you will see black, white, grey, silver, dark grey, charcoal = just a sea of dull colors.
Loren L. Then go to a mall parking lot. Check out the plethora of colors. True they are not trucks… UNLESS the are the “D” and imports name tags. A complete pallet of colors! OR pay top dollars for a …. white… maybe a black color… BUT its an additional charge for midnight charcoal… or Dorothy ruby red. So bland and when you drive up in that 75K or higher truck… its just another hum ho truck…

Thanks for the person for sending the GMC HD 3500 link. It a spinner as the link is not set up or approved by GMC.
Problem is, if it’s not white, black, silver, and possibly red, resale values on other colors are hard to move, whether privately or at dealerships. Remember the 90s when manufacturers brought green back. Nicer shades than the 70s, popular for a few years, but as popular as cancer now. Similar to when FCA (for example) brought back 70s shades like Go Mango and Plum Crazy, etc. They’re popular for diehard retro fans, but trying to resell afterwards can be brutal. Given a choice between a purple or black/white/red Challenger/Charger, the “safer” color will sell easier. I agree more variety would be nice, but demand for variety isn’t there.
Coffin colors, nice if you’re ready to croak.
I was hoping to buy an AT4 in brown in 2020. I wanted people to think I was actually taking the truck offroad.
I really liked the Smokey quartz collet better than the root beer colored mohagany. Tired of basic red, black, white, etc.
If GM wants to save money just sell black, white and silver if that is “supposedly” the only colors the market wants. Borrrrring!!!
Price point is hard to understand… I have an optioned older gmc pickup and to upgrade similar its 70k… 10k miles later the trucks worth 45k if ur lucky… that’s rough
Is “Stone Blue Metallic” making a comeback? It was last available on the 2018 Sierra models (except Denali). Does anyone know for a fact whether or not this color will be offered on the 2020 Sierras?
I do not know, but somehow I doubt it. Stone Blue Metallic is the very first color option listed for the 2019 Sierras however it is not an option to select with the Build and Price site at:
https://www.gmc.com/build-and-price
Ebony Twilight Metallic also seems to be missing from the Build and Price page.

“The 2019 GMC Sierra is available in fourteen exterior colors and eight interior color combinations.” Yet there are only eleven (11) colors available to select from on the GMC website. Stone Blue Metallic and Ebony Twilight Metallic do not seem to be available. Also don’t see how they get eight (8) interior color combinations?

Why do you need a Moon Roof and a Sliding Rear Window? I had a Moon Roof on an earlier model and tried to find one at the end of ’14, but ended up with only the sliding window. Now I prefer only the window and do not need the moon roof, or the expense of having it in a package with other preferred equipment.
I have also taken a liking to the Smokey Quartz, but with my current Cocoa Dune interior in a 6.2 1500 Denali.
When is the second quarter of 2020? I am wanting the carbon black and waiting to order. Also when will the interior refresh be available any word on that?
