With the rear-wheel-drive Holden Commodore having gone the way of the DoDo Bird, Holden Special Vehicles has been focusing on upgrading other General Motors products – namely the Holden Colorado.
Two years ago, HSV unveiled the SportsCat pickup, which is an upgraded version of the Australian-spec Colorado. The SportsCat package added items like beefier anti-roll bars, raised suspension and off-road wheels shod with Cooper off-road tires, while the range-topping SportsCat+ model added AP Racing brakes, an electronically adjustable anti-roll bar, and unique cosmetic features.
Now HSV is back a with an updated version of the SportsCat called the SportsCat Series 2. The SportsCat Series 2 picks up where the first truck left off, but features a different gloss black grille, new gloss black fascia inserts, new alloy wheels, and HSV Performance seats. There is also a new steering wheel and more HSV logos on the exterior and inside the cabin.
Apart from these small revisions, the HSV Colorado SportsCat Series 2remains unchanged from the standard SportsCat. It has the same 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission, the same off-road suspension (with the same optional SupaShock off-road dampers) and the same safety technology. The base model is now called the SportsCat V, however, whereas the old SportsCat+ is now the SportsCat SV.
Pricing for the SportsCat Series 2 will start at $62,490 AUS for the automatic and extend to $64,690 AUS for the automatic, while the SportsCat SV will start at $66,790 AUS and $66,990 AUS for the manual and auto, respectively.

Can it tow, what’s the payload ? If not what’s the point ?
7,716 pounds just like the American Colorado. Or as they list 3500 KG
So yes it can tow.
And a recent GM Vehicle update reveals that the Colorado won’t get it’s next overhaul within the US Market until 2023??…..Really???, the truck is doing well in overall sales, especially with the Bison Trim, but the Ranger is scheduled for another major update in 2021 along with the F-150, we’re starting to see a little complacency develop here!!
Not so much complacency but the reality that GM nor any other mfg can over haul every model at one time. Also the fact GM and Isuzu split and GM moved the entire program in house.
More going on and being accounted for than what you see on the surface.
