The 2020 Corvette Stingray debut event was probably one of the biggest reveals General Motors has ever hosted and despite the long run-up to the highly anticipated unveiling, it now seems as though it came and went rather quickly.
If you want to relive the debut of the game-changing sports car, or you missed it when the live stream was hosted last week, then not to worry! Thanks to GM and the magic of the internet, you can watch the intro for the debut from the comfort of your home, a coffee shop or wherever else you may be sitting.
GM says the 2020 Corvette Stingray debut video aim to highlight the sports car’s “aeronautical roots” and also highlights the “new levels of performance, technology and craftsmanship,” it brings to Chevy and Corvette fans.
As you likely already know, the 2020 Corvette Stingray is powered by a 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine that produces up to 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Paired with the motor is an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels and enables a 0-60 mph time of under three seconds, GM claims. Only Stingrays equipped with the optional Z51 performance package will scoot to 60 mph in under three seconds, however.
Like the Corvette C7, the 2020 Corvette C8 is produced exclusively at the GM Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky, while its LT2 V8 engine is built at Tonawanda Engine in New York. Prices for the base-model Stingray will start at under $60,000, raising the performance/value bar even further for the Corvette brand.

It goes airborne over 150? ? Guess that’s the airship connection…
In marketing, there’s usually a minimum of three layers, GM marketing, external ad agencies and GM execs approving/denying…
1) Overall concept couldn’t be more ironic; they choose fantasy flight over downforce/track dominance at this price point; this thing most likely has the faster nurburgring lap time for under a $100K…
2) CGI is armature at best…
3) Let’s add water? Why…
4) Why a wannabe stealth bomber and not a faster/more adrenaline-inducing fighter jet?
5) 0-60 is a huge deal for the C8, as it should be, its a fail that’s it isn’t showcased here…
No need to thank me GM, I have the solution for the most memorable C8 reveal…Play a video of a the C8 time-lapsing a sub-3 second 0-60, then time-lapsing a quarter mile and finally it time-lapsing the nurburgring…Just as that video ends, the three C8s turn on their headlights and accelerate, the two outside C8 stay straight/on course while the middle C8 behind the other two, gets sideways veering into the crowd but does come to a complete stop without hitting anything…As the crowds gets confused, Mark Ruess exits the C8 while laughing…
Reports say that people are canceling their Ford Mustang GT 500 because they know the 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z51 will possibly cost less and be faster; but you’ve got to imagine that it won’t be just the Ford Mustang that will be feeling pain because every European luxury and sports car builder will be getting cancellations because their cars cannot compete with the price and performance of the new C8 Corvette Z51.
