Now that the all-new mid-engine Corvette C8 is officially out of the bag, it’s time for it to finally strut its stuff out on public roads without the camouflage. We’ve already shows you real-life pictures of the base-model Corvette C8, and now we have photos of the new 2020 Corvette equipped with the Z51 Performance Package in the wild, slathered in Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic.
The big giveaway here is that the rear spoiler seen on this model, which is added as standard equipment with the Z51 Performance Package, works to shove the Vette into the pavement with as much as 400 pounds of downforce. It’s available either in black or body-color
Additional equipment in the C8 Corvette Z51 package includes:
- Michelin PS4 Performance 3 Season tires
- FE3 Performance Suspension
- Available FE4 Suspension with Magnetic Ride Control
- Larger 345 mm (13.6-inch) front and 350 mm (13.8-inch) rear brakes
- Third rear-mounted radiator
- Electronic Limited-Slip Differential
- Performance Exhaust
Equipped with the Performance Exhaust, the 2020 Corvette produces as much as 495 horsepower at 6,450 rpm and 470 pound-feet of torque at 5,150 rpm. The sprint to 60 mph takes less than three seconds. Making it all possible is the new naturally-aspirated 6.2L LT2 V8 engine, which sends output to the rear wheels through the standard M1L eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Further exterior upgrades we spot with this particular Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic 2020 Corvette include Carbon Flash Open Spoke wheels, which we think pair well with the black spoiler and blue paint.
Of course, interested fans and potential customers alike can spec theirs to taste using the new 2020 Corvette configurator.
We gotta say, we’re really digging the new Vette’s styling. While we thought it looked good on stage during its recent debut in Tustin, California, we think it looks even better in the wild, especially properly configured. The low, wide stance, the interplay of sharp lines and deep creases, not to mention the assortment of aesthetic upgrades available all combine to make the 2020 Corvette a real eyeball-grabber.

The 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z51 looks ready to do battle as the mind reels at what might be the first story after a head-to-head between the C7 Corvette Z51 and the C8 Corvette Z51.
Forget the old Corvette, I want to see a battle vs the Ford GT.
Love the front and rear ends; very Corvette, but very new. It’s the profile that leaves me cold. I just see a generic supercar look that could be any Lotus, Ferrari, etc.
Ha, and what is wrong with that exactly, ha ha
That looks like the lake heart blue or whatever it’s called. I dont think that’s rapid blue.
I’m a Corvette fan currently have three in the garage a 57 fuel injected Cascade Green a 1967 Coupe bright Blue high performance small block with road pipes and mag wheels with knock off’s a real child of the sixties a 1998 Corvette convertible Amethyst with fire-thorn interior with an Oak top this car is one of a kind so I know and like Corvettes. The New one is a nice car not a home run, pretty vanilla as for as cars go The rear end is not very appealing and the profile is so so . We’ll have to see how the car performs against its competition,,,,,,,,,,,,,although the price point seems to appeal to the masses.
Really, so so? Not sure what you guys are looking for, but from where they were, to where it is now, way past so so in my book. Worked in the automotive industry for 37 years, and don’t see any thing better in the American market at this price point, guess with a lot of guys because you don’t have one, they just don’t add up huh? Maybe if you get one, your tune will change, just saying.
Yes, Elkheart Lake Blue! Prices released August 15th!
This is clearly the first world class Corvette in history. With right hand drive, it should significantly help to boost sales.
What ever you’re smoking break it out. Not the first world class vette, that’s your choice. No need for the right hand drive vette. Out the door price will tell all. Twin turbo not, supercharged better all around. 100K + . That’s my choice, someone give me thumbs down.
Scott,
You seem to refer to drugs quite a bit. Something you want to tell us?
There couldn’t be a business case for this car without right hand drive. Why is Mustang so successful in terms of sales? Ford exports 30-35% of the volume with many being right hand markets. Keep in mind that most of the wealth in the world now originates outside the US. So you may not care in your isolationist mind, but it is critical for the new Vette.
Previous Vettes were good value for the price but the C8 as a whole package can compete against all brands and rate very high on all counts. The C7 was close but C3, 4 and 5 not so much. Tadge over delivered 10 fold.
Finally a Corvette that is complete, with an interior worthy of it’s heritage! It looks like a fighter jet inside and out. As for those who don’t think the exterior rocks…really? So many awkward past designs and crappy interiors. This one I will buy 😉
JULY 19 – DAY 2 OF C8 2020 CORVETTE REVEAL PRESENTATION – TADGE JUECHTER CHIEF ENGINEER
Absolutely HATE the front!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Absolutely HATE the front!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
No one cares what you think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that the reveal has happened, it’s like GM Authority has forgotten all about the Corvette. You’ve given more press to things like the Chinese market Encore than you’ve given the post-reveal Corvette.
Please tell me you’ve got something in the works.
Extend Camaro production ! We still need a true muscle car 700+ hp. Not a toy . Give me thumbs down for saying that. That’s just the way I feel about it
It is what it is.
Haters any of you own vettes? Or ZL1, as daily drivers do you know the car that you’re talking about ? If not just cool it.
I own a 1998 Sunbird and I’m mad as hell.?
Lol damn Pontiac daughter had one see is still pissed….
You want 700+ hp and you don’t want to pay outside of muscle car money or more than what the C8 can command?
It’s not even haters. You’re just high.
High ? As soon as C8 is proven on the track nurburgring with better time than ZL1 1LE then get back to me, So what is your daily driver ?
Yep. You’re still high.
HP is a luxury for those who are willing to pay. Step up and pay up, or step off. Don’t ask GM to lower the bar for their sports cars just for you.
To not understand the significance of the C8 and the exquisite balance of design and practicality that went into it’s creation is pure ignorance. It is not a muscle car. Nor is it a continuation of an age long since gone. What it is, is a bold new venture into the current age with all the attributes needed to satisfy the current dreamers that demand more than just nostalgia!
Well said !
