All The Changes Made To The 2020 Buick Enclave

A number of updates have been applied to the 2020 Buick Enclave designed to bring added comfort to the seven-passenger crossover, along with more up-to-date technology.

The most important update applied to Buick’s popular three-row, in our opinion, is the new 8-inch touchscreen, which comes standard on all trim levels and is running the latest version of Buick’s infotainment software. General Motors says the system offers available connected navigation and supports SiriusXM with 360L streaming.

The new 8-inch touchscreen isn’t the only tech update made to the 2020 Buick Enclave. An available new HD Rear Vision Camera and HD Surround Vision system are also on offer, giving the driver a better view of the vehicle’s exterior surroundings, along with new four-way power lumbar seat adjust and front passenger massage seats. Impressively, the massage seats are standard on all 2020 Buick Enclave Premium and Avenir models.

Speaking of the Enclave Avenir, the range-topper gets a sleeker appearance for 2020 thanks to a monochromatic lower front panel. All Enclave trims will also be available to order in two new exterior colors: Champagne Gold Metallic and Dark Moon Blue Metallic, while Avenir models get an exclusive Rich Garnet Metallic color.

As we reported previously, the 2020 Buick Enclave has also added a new Sport Touring trim to the lineup for next year, which gives the crossover a monochromatic exterior appearance and adds 20-inch alloy wheels and Sport Touring liftgate badging.

“For the 2020 model year, we’re upping the comfort with available massaging seats, bringing in a new and different look for customers with Sport Touring and enhancing our in-vehicle technology to provide more of what these customers want,” said Buick marketing boss Phil Brook.

Powering all 2020 Enclave models will be GM’s naturally aspirated 3.6-liter LLT V6 engine, which is rated at 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The nine-speed automatic transmission also returns, along with standard FWD and optional AWD.

The 2020 Buick Enclave will go on sale later this year with prices starting from $41,195 including destination.

  1. The Avenir model’s inclusion of body color lower panels and bumpers fixes my main gripe with the exterior of this generation of the Enclave. The addition of massaging front seats and more exterior colors are also welcome additions. I do think a Cocoa/Light Linen interior option with open pore wood trim and semi-aniline leather would be a unique option on the Avenir models and possibly get consumers to upgrade. Give me a 21-inch wheel option (not just another 6 spoke design), a center console/bench option for the second row, motorized sunshades for the sunroof, a bit more upscale interior trim and details (metal speaker grilles and multicolor ambient lighting) and finally, the 3.6TT from the old Cadillac V-Sports. That would take this already strong contender to the next level and better serve families who find the XT6 too small for their needs but don’t want the Escalade.

  2. Good move on the massaging seats. With the Volvo XC90, you have to go up to the Inscription model and then add the $3,100 luxury package (with an MSRP starting at $67,100) in order to get the massaging backrest front seats.

Should make the Enclave a real value. Then add in the much better reliability and the Enclave should be a no-brainer.

  3. How about adding the ability to disable auto stop/start. Would purchase the Enclave in an instant if it had this feature.

    1. Me, too. In a heartbeat.

    2. The lack of a disable feature for the start/stop state is the most common complaint about the Enclave and LaCrosse that I’ve heard.

They added it to the Blazer, Acadia, XT5, and XT6 this year. The Enclave should have it.

    3. Me too. That I’ve had several Enclaves in the past, and would love to have one again. The lack of a disable auto start/stop is the biggest reason I still have my current Acadia and haven’t returned to a new Enclave. I’d love to have tan seats too!

      1. Since you have had several Enclaves…how has the mechanical end of them been? Have you had blown engines with any of them? Just curious, as I am the one who had the question about the 2009 a few comments below. Thanks

  4. good move on the massaging seats….BUT why didn’t they add a heads up display as well…..I have a 2018 Enclave Avenir and a 2019 Evision Prem 2…..the Envision is actually better equipped than the Avenir

  5. I have an enclave now and was looking into purchasing another. But the newer ones do not have a bench second row option. Only the two separate seats. Big mistake in my opinion. Not everyone needs the third row seating at all so no access is needed, ever. The new console design is a big miss also. It’ a very intrusive feeling. Like a big box right up next to you. Don’t understand where or why that happened.

    1. If you won’t ever need a 3rd row then why get a 7 seater? You might as well just go with a 5 seater. There are people that truly need a 7 seater and don’t want to have to pull up middle seats to get to the back row seats. It’s a great idea in my opinion to have a middle space to walk through.

  6. How are the workings of the engine on the newer Enclaves? Have any changes been made since the 2009’s? I know that is old, but we bought a used 2009 a couple years ago and Dec 17, 2019 the engine went out, and the timing belt, chain or whatever it is called, broke. One mechanic said these cars were notorious for the engines going out. What year was that problem solved or has it been? I love the car but I don’t like having to look forward to a problem like that!
Please reply if you can help me.
    Thanks!
