2020 GMC Terrain Adds Denali Premium Package

The 2020 GMC Terrain is getting several updates and changes. One of these is the addition of a new package called Denali Premium Package to the range-topping Denali trim level.

Assigned RPO Code PCV, the new Denali Premium Package adds two other packages – Advanced Safety Package and Comfort Package, which include several additional features:

Advanced Safety Package (WPR) content:

Comfort Package (PS1) content:

  • Ventilated driver seat (KU1)
  • Ventilated front passenger seat (KU3)
  • Heated rear seats (KA6)

Both packages are only available as part of the Denali Premium Package, though some of the included features can be optioned with lower trim levels of the 2020 GMC Terrain. Hence, equipping the small crossover with the optional pack makes for the ultimate Terrain Denali.

It’s worth noting that the new package replaces various packages for the 2019 model year. For instance, the Comfort Package continues as is from 2019, while the Advanced Safety Package combines the aspects of the Driver Alert Package II and the Advanced Safety Package.

Pricing for the Denali Premium Package is currently unknown, but it should command a decent premium over the base price of the 2020 GMC Terrain. For reference, the 2019 GMC Terrain Denali starts at $37,800.

This isn’t the first time that GMC has offered an optional package for its range-topping Denali trim level. The GMC Sierra, for instance, also offers an optional Denali Ultimate Package as a $5,350 premium over the $54,795 base price of the 2019 GMC Sierra Denali 1500.

  1. So basically, they’re taking features that should be standard on the Denali and putting them in a package. Nice.

  2. No they renamed the safety and technology package the premium package.

Even on the Denali they give you a choice in price you want to pay.

Even in the Denali some people look for ways to lower the price and skipping a package like this adds more sales.

Well said. I agree many people may want the “luxury” of the Denali just for the name, extra chrome and few more standard features. Not everyone needs a car that drives itself.

      1. That and it helps a salesman who has a customer who is looking at a SLT move up to a Denali for just a little more. He makes money, GM makes money and the customer gets a better model than he expected to get.

You want customers to have pride of ownership as that creates happy owners and repeat buyers.

        1. I’m a current Terrain owner and was looking to buy a new one… But I must say that other manufacturers are really blowing the Denali terrain out of the park for features that come standard for the same price I.e. Kia Telluride or the H. Palliside I’m just sayin…

          1. The others also cut corners that permit them to add these feature that GMC doesn’t cut.

The value is not always in the options. Beauty is not always sheet metal deep. Just sayin…

You get what you pay for no one rides free.

My buddy who worked for Hyundai drove a Chevy for a reason.

  3. My wife’s 2019 Terrain Denali already has these options. I suppose that I am missing the point of this Denali Premium Package.

    1. Like I stated they just renamed the Safety and Technology package..

It sounds better and probably cost the same.

  5. Like most current GM products, the pricing of the Terrain is comically out of range within its competitive set. A fully loaded AWD Terrain Denail is around $45k. Come on.

Yes, I know GM throws its “XX% off MSRP” fire sales at consumers (much like Kohl’s) to bring prices down to where they should be in the first place. The trouble is that those MSRPs are still going to scare a good number of consumers off when they build or research a vehicle online or browse window stickers at the dealer.

  6. I agree John,
I have been watching the price of the GMC Denali since 12/2019 and every month the MSRP went up $1000. It started at about 40,000 now its up to $45,000. The dealer will then offer the Denali for sale at about 37 or 38,000 and say that the price includes 5 or $6,000 cash back. Actually you would then be paying the full price of the Denali. Bad Business!! if you don’t do your homework you will be paying the full price of a vehicle. The cash back money is not free.
