Following a major livestream debut event in Tustin, California, the mid-engine Corvette C8 is here. Interest and enthusiasm for this next-gen sports car is nothing short of extraordinary, and now, Chevrolet has wasted no time in getting the 2020 Corvette configurator online.
Our time with the 2020 Corvette configurator was a bit spotty, and on numerous occasions, we were booted to a simplified version of the program that only let us change the exterior color, no doubt due to a tidal wave of would-be buyers and fans doing some virtual window shopping. However, we did eventually get it up and running with the full spread of options available.
For the time being, the 2020 Corvette configurator offers six different option categories, which include:
- Exterior colors
- Performance/Wheels
- Exterior accents
- Trim levels
- Interior colors
- Seats
The sheer number of aesthetic options on hand is staggering. With 12 different paint finishes, three roof types, six wheel designs, four brake caliper colors, and a whole multicolored galaxy of badges, accents, ground effects, engine covers, stripes and fender hash marks to choose from, it should be easy to use the 2020 Corvette configurator to spec out an example that’s truly unique.
There’s also three different trim levels, including the 1LT, 2LT and 3LT, each of which offers its own combination of interior features, technology offerings and cabin colors. What’s more, there’s three different seat types with varying levels of lateral support, and the option for leather, suede or Performance Textile upholstery.
Moving beyond all the styling and cabin bits, the only true performance-adder is the Z51 Performance Package, which can be found under the Performance/Wheels tab. According to the 2020 Corvette configurator, this throws in:
- Michelin PS4 Performance 3 Season tires
- Standard FE3 Performance Suspension
- Available FE4 Suspension with Magnetic Ride Control
- Bigger brakes
- A third radiator
- Electronic LSD
- Larger rear spoiler (up to 400 pounds of downforce)
- Performance exhaust
Unfortunately, pricing information was unavailable during our time with the 2020 Corvette configurator. However, Chevy has said that when it finally hits dealers, MSRP will slot under the $60,000 mark. As for the inevitable dealer markups for the initial units, well, that’s a whole other story.
The configurator is available here.
