2019 Holden Astra Graced With Black Edition

The Holden Astra has seen a major subtraction this year with the end of two body styles. However, the brand is adding something new for a short time to hopefully rejuvenate sales traffic.
The Holden Astra Black Edition debuted Tuesday as a limited-run special edition model. Based on the RS trim, the special car carries a $500 price premium over a regular Astra RS. The Black Edition, as one may assume, includes numerous black accents inside and out. There are no changes to the running gear as this is purely a cosmetic upgrade package.
Each car receives a black-painted roof, 17-inch alloy wheels finished in black, and a black exterior grille and mirror caps. Further, a black headliner is present inside. To cap things off, all Astra Black Editions get special decals and badging to signify their place in the Astra lineup.
Interestingly, buyers won’t find a black exterior color available. Instead, the Astra Black Edition will be available in Absolute Red, Summit White and, Nitrate Silver. The last option is an additional $500 upcharge.
Aside from the special cosmetic touches, the Black Edition features all of the regular RS model’s standard gear. That includes keyless entry, heated and power-folding mirrors, parking sensors at the front and rear, and a 7-inch touchscreen unit for infotainment.
The Astra Black Edition arrives as Holden says goodbye to two other Astra body styles. The Astra sedan and wagon have both been culled from the portfolio. The sedan was essentially a rebadged Chevrolet Cruze, which exited production globally. The wagon, per Holden, was a slow seller.
Buyers will find the Astra on sale with a $27,490 price tag, or about $19,024 USD at current exchange rates and order books will close for the car on September 30.
