The GM Authority Take
GM Mexico sales figures in May followed a similar trend as those in March and April. To note, May was the third month that the all-new 2019 Silverado/Cheyenne and 2019 Sierra went on sale in Mexico. But while the new trucks posted noteworthy sales volume increases in April, the Silverado didn’t fare so well in May, while Sierra sales shot up almost 60 percent. In addition, many other models dragged GM sales down during the month, including Chevy Aveo, Beat, Equinox, the discontinued Cruze, Express, Malibu, Suburban and Tahoe, as well as the GMC Acadia and Yukon and the Buick Encore, Enclave and Envision.
We aren’t sure what’s responsible for these downward swings in sales volume, but posit that the drops could be related to lackluster availability of the models in Mexico. That said, GM Mexico sales will likely spike when the automaker launches the all-new second-generation Chevrolet Onix and all-new Chevrolet Tracker in the market – as the market seems ripe for such models.

16,166 units……..in all of Mexico???????!!!!!!!!!
Take away the Aveo and Beat (11,000 combined) and GM only sold 5,000 other units?????!!!!!!!!!!! In the whole country!!!!???
Take away the Cavalier, Spark and Trax and….those numbers are…..oh my……why bother?
Following GM’s current business model, It’s time to get out of Mexico.
How many units did GM Mexico produce in May?
How many units did GM Mexico export to the US in May?
“How many units did GM Mexico export to the US in May?”
Probably about five times more than they sold in Mexico. So much for Machete Mary’s lie that “we build em where we sell em.”
You are misinterpreting the numbers the final row shows a GM Mexico total of 83,557 vehicles for 2019, a 0.9% increase from 82,815 at 2018. But we cannot ignore that Mexico is suffering an economic crisis caused mainly for the hostile Trump policies, that means a weak mexican peso exchange rate vs dollar. Anyway we must remmeber that a strong dollar is bad for all economies, and this effects would translate to US economy anytime in the future.
Why not even a mention of the Mexicans being pissed off at Trump’s insistent belittling of their country that they might just boycott buying from an American owned company?
