About Cadillac XT6
The Cadillac XT6 is a three-row premium luxury crossover. The model represents a new addition to the Cadillac model range as part of the brand's crossover expansion strategy. It slots above the the compact Cadillac XT4 and midsize Cadillac XT5 in the Cadillac crossover SUV lineup. Its size classification can be best described as "midsize plus", as it is bigger than midsize but not big enough to be classified as full-size.
The XT6 was announced at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in January 2019 and goes on sale in the spring of the 2019 calendar year as a 2020 model. It is based on the regular-length variant of the GM C1 platform shared with the XT5, but with more rear overhang than the XT5. That extended rear overhang enables it to accommodate a third row. The rest of the vehicle is very similar to the XT5, including its engine, transmission, and cockpit.
The XT5 is produced at the following GM plants globally:
- GM Spring Hill factory in Tennessee or GM Lansing Delta plant operated by GM USA supplying North American markets
- Cadillac China Jinqiao factory operated by Shanghai-GM supplying the Chinese market

It is interesting that this copy of Volvo XC90 looks older and more conservative. Redesigned Chevy for rich and tasteless seniors.
This entire vehicle, right down to the boring selection of corporate colors, is a snooze. I’ve now seen several on the road and just as I thought, it looks entirely dull and derivative of the already boring looking Volvo XC90.
Most XT6 models that dealers have ordered have not even been built yet, you have not seen “several” on the road. Now find something better to do with your time than poor quality trolling on a vehicle news website.
Actually, I’ve seen no less than 15 in person here in Michigan. Parked in Sams Clubs, gas stations, and driving down the road. I’ve been seeing at least 2 or 3 a week for the past couple months, they’ve been on the road. And they’re incredibly boring looking, I’m really disappointed in the design team for this vehicle.
Yea its not like the GM’s headquarters is in Michigan (Detriot) nor do they drive the new models around for testing before dealers are even able to have them. While it has been released for pre-order a short time ago none of those customers have taken delivery and dealer’s are not receiving any they ordered yet. My local Cadillac dealer was only able to obtain a pre-production model to do a unveiling party for the XT6 this past Saturday.
You do realize car companies have test vehicle fleets that take to public roads prior to a vehicle being available at dealers, right?? On top of that, I live in metro Detroit, near GM’s headquarters and Tech Center, where vehicle development takes place. So, yes, I have seen several pre-production XT6s on the road.
This looks great in person. And it will age very well compared to many of its competitors; which have resorted to cheap design trends like the “floating roof”.
Typically, larger cities get the newer models first–exposing them to larger masses produces more interest–likely more are driven as GM executive models–once again exposure and an opportunity for feedback to the production team if issues arise
Cadillac’s copy of the Volvo XC with it’s usual sombre 50 shades of charcoal and grey color combos. It will probably sell quite well
Be nice if the CT6 had this color palette.
The current offerings all look “funerial”.
Honestly, I am done with Cadillac. For fun take a look at their classics from the 60’s and 70’s. Let them sink in. Style and presence. You knew what it was even if you didn’t. And they had real names too!
Ok let those pictures take hold in your mind.
Now go back to these new Caddies……
Take a close look at all Crossovers, the rear bumpers have all about disappeared. That includes my wife’s Murano.
Which means if they get tapped in the back it will cost 3 times as much to fix it. Is it any wonder insurance is astronomically high.
Styling is subjective, and personally I think this looks good. Need to see it in person. I just with there was a better engine option available for the price.
I ordered a XT6 order #WXQRR8 were is it at in being build
Sigh, same old miserable corporate color palette.
so one red, and 5 grays. Typical.
