Tuned C7 Corvette ZR1 Posts A Wicked Eight Second Quarter Mile: Video

Not long ago, we shared a video of a heavily tuned, six-speed C6 Corvette ZR1 posting a blistering 8.94 quarter-mile at 160 mph, which made it one of the fastest known street-legal C6 ZR1s.

At the time, we remarked that the record was faster than the current record for the newer C7 Corvette ZR1, but it seems that’s no longer true.

The encrypted ECU for the C7 Corvette ZR1 was unlocked relatively recently, so the records have been tumbling rapidly. Hennessey was the first to post a record-breaking quarter-mile in the 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 V8 powered ZR1, before it went back out and beat its own record.

Now the guys at Advanced Modern Performance have hit back at Hennessey and the other shops that have been gunning for the record with their own blisteringly fast C7 Corvette ZR1. The shop went to the strip this week with their full-weight ZR1 and set an absurdly quick time of 8.86 seconds at 154 mph. That was also set on 18-inch wheels with drag radials and not smaller wheels with larger sidewall tires.

Official details on this build are slim, but according to a comment the shop left on its own Instagram post, the car has a ported stock blower and retains the stock LT5 short block. The car is running on boost only and is likely making more than 1,000 horsepower at the wheels. Additionally, the 8.86-second pass was set with the wing from the optional ZTK Performance Package still on the car, which can slow it down at speed. We imagine it’s only a matter of time before someone tries to break the record in a base car with the smaller stock wing.
