Racing fans rejoice! Renowned racing title GRID has announced a return after a five-year hiatus, with developer Codemasters set to release the next instalment in the series this September.
Codemasters has already released a trailer for the new GRID game, which features both the the Porsche 911 RSR and Corvette C7.R GTE cars.
In a statement, the game developer said the fourth title in the series will immerse gamers in “intense wheel to wheel racing action, spanning four continents in some of the world’s most famous city streets and race circuits.”
The vehicle roster will include GT cars (like the Corvette C7.R) along with touring cars, stock cars, muscle cars, super modified stock cars and more. It will also feature permanent circuits, street courses, ovals and point-to-point maps.
Furthermore, two-time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso has signed on as a Race Consultant for GRID, helping to model the game’s handling engine and AI behaviours, and will also appear in the game. His self-made race tam FA Racing will appear in multiple classes within the game and will challenge the player as they attempt to progress through their career. The career mode culminates when the player comes face-to-face with Alonso and his championship-winning Renault R26 F1 car.
“Having competed across F1, Endurance and Stock Racing, GRID is the perfect game for me and I’m delighted the studio has added both myself and my racing team into the game,” Alonso said in a statement. “GRID offers so much variety and I welcome the challenge when players get to line-up against me.”
More information on the upcoming new GRID game will be released as it September launch date nears.
