2020 Mid-Engine Corvette C8 Spotted With Different Brush Silver Wheel: Video

By now, we’ve seen a ton of different parts of the 2020 mid-engine Corvette C8 through spy videos, but a Corvette fan may have caught a never-before-seen option on a prototype they recently filmed on the highway.

The prototype in question, which was travelling with seven other mid-engine Corvette C8 test cars, has what appears to be five-spoke brush silver alloy wheels, which are different than the previous wheel designs we have seen on the car (like those on the cars pictured below).

The Corvette fan that filmed these videos says the cars were travelling in a convoy headed toward Nashville on I65.

These prototypes appear to be further along in their development than others and are also sporting the ‘07.18.19’ decals that were seen on the pre-production model in New York City last month. The decals are, of course, a reference to the supercar’s reveal date, set for July 18th, 2019. We recently learned that Chevrolet will debut the car in Orange County, California as well.

We’re expecting Chevy to pull the wraps off of the entry-level mid-engine Corvette C8 in California, which will likely be powered by an upgraded version of the Corvette’s 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine, perhaps called the LT2, with about 500 horsepower. Additional model variants will debut later.

In a recent statement, GM said the next-generation Corvette is the “most anticipated Corvette ever.” The automaker recently added 400 jobs at its Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky in anticipation of the pent-up demand.

The Bowling Green plant first opened in 1981 and has produced more than 1 million Corvettes since. GM has invested more than $900 million in the plant since 2011.

  1. I’m sure they look different when the car isn’t moving…but man those look like the wheels that were on Suburbans from 2007-2014!

  2. I played it at 1/4 speed. It looks to be the same wheel as the black with the machined lip (the thin split 5 spoke) just painted silver. This would match with Corvette currently as they offer one or two wheel designs on Stingray and just change the finish.

  3. Hey Chevy…..How about a surprise reveal heading up the field for the 103rd Indianapolis 500?

  4. It’s got to be a given that when the C8 Corvette is introduced, the new Corvette will be offered in different configurations and it is necessary for Chevrolet to test these cars now before they are introduced in 6-8 months.
