General Motors has announced several updates for the 2020 model year Chevrolet S10 midsize pickup for the Brazilian and South American markets. Specifically, the 2020 Chevrolet S10 adds new connectivity and safety features.
As such, the 2020 Chevrolet S10 maintains exactly the same appearance both inside and out. Despite its advanced age, which is now approaching a full decade on the market, the S10 is still rather competitive in its segment and is capable of satisfying the tastes of the target market in South America. More specifically, 2020 is the ninth model year of the current generation S10, and the fourth model year since its mid-cycle enhancement/refresh.
For this particular update, GM improved on the Chevy S10’s connectivity – which remains one of its primary advantages over the competition. In addition to offering the MyLink infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the OnStar system of the 2020 Chevrolet S10 adds new features that owners can use via the smartphone, including:
- Remote engine start
- Door lock/unlock
- Engine shut-off (in case of theft)
Another small yet noteworthy change to the 2020 Chevrolet S10 is the addition of a headrest to the third (middle) rear seatback for Double Cab (four-door) models. This detail completes the pickup’s safety equipment, which also includes six airbags, Front Collision Alert, Lane Change Alert, back-up camera with guidelines, Low Tire Pressure Warning, as well as electronic traction and stability control.
Other than that, all other aspects of 2020 Chevrolet S10 continue unchanged. The midsize pickup truck will continue to be offered in three body styles and six trim levels.
Chevrolet S10 Body Styles:
- Chassis Cab / box delete
- Single Cab
- Double Cab
Chevrolet S10 Trim Levels:
- LS
- Advantage
- LT
- Midnight
- LTZ
- High Country
The 2020 Chevrolet S10 continues to be offered by the same two engines as before:
- Naturally-aspirated 2.5L gasoline I-4 making 206 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, and
- Turbo-diesel 2.8L I-4 XLD28 Duramax making 200 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque
Both engines can be coupled to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The 2020 Chevrolet S10 is available now across Chevrolet’s Brazilian dealer network and interested parties can purchase the midsize pickup truck in the following seven color options:
- Blue Old Blue Eyes
- Silver Switchblade
- Summit White
- Chili Red
- Graphite Gray
- Edible Red Berries
- Black Gold Black (strange name, we know)
The Chevrolet S10 is assembled at the GM São José dos Campos plant in Brazil. The facility supplies the pickup to all South American markets. This version of the midsize pickup truck is also sold in Southeast Asia as the Chevrolet Colorado and in Australia/New Zealand as the Holden Colorado. The model is mechanically similar, but notably different, compared to the Chevrolet Colorado (and GMC Canyon) sold in North America, as both share the GMT31XX platform.

The interior looks a lot more like the North American Chevy Colorado.
It’s a very good looking truck. The front end looks a little sharper than the US version.
“The model is mechanically similar, but substantially different, compared to the Chevrolet Colorado (and GMC Canyon) sold in North America, as both share the GMT31XX platform.“
Can anyone articulate what those substantial differences are?
The architecture is the same but they have built, priced and tuned it to each market it is in.
The Holden Colorado and S10 are more similar. They both use the shorter bed, The frame is a little shorter, The interior is not trimed as well. No V6 overseas. The suspension is tuned differently.
The N American version offers a longer frame that offers crew short bed and Extended long bed on it and then an even longer long bed crew here.
The bed is deeper. here. Also there are more options offered here than many overseas markets.
GM took about two years to rework the truck to better fit the American market and it shows in how it drives. Ford did not do that much to the Ranger and it shows in how it rides and handles here.
Gm as a whole has handled this program better than some other global platforms they have used. This is not a one shoe fits all class. Different markets have different expectations.
In Asia they have cargo hooks on the outside of the bed rim. They expect that there.
What would be interesting to see is whether Chevrolet plans to offer a carbon fiber bed for the S-10 and Colorado pickup trucks.
Would a Colorado chassis cab/box delete option sell well in the US?
Do they have production capacity in Missouri for an SUV variant?
Please send it to Mexico Algain . I dont want to buy a Nissan or Toyota but Chevrolet has live that segmento if you have the car we want, just sell it in all the markets you that you can. The same for the malibu we dont have in anymore.
Malibu face.
But an understated car like front end might not be bad when everyone else is still doing the Kenworth thing.
The UGLIEST pick up, large or mid-sized, made in the US……………….
It’s a good looking truck. I like the styling on this somewhat better than the US version.
Would like to find the part # for the s10 door badge.
