The freshly updated 2020 Buick LaCrosse got its official reveal in China in March, followed by the debut of the range-topping Avenir trim level several weeks later. Highlights for the refresh include a new exterior design that brings Buick’s latest design language to the 2020 Buick LaCrosse.
It all starts up front, where the 2020 Buick LaCrosse sports a new fascia complete with an upsized grille. The new grille looks as though it was stretched across the car’s nose, complemented by an insert that emphasizes the horizontal space between the reshaped, thinner headlight housings. The grille on the Avenir trim level comes with an exclusive diamond knit texture, while all models get a large chrome divider as part of the red, silver, and blue Tri-Shield badge.
The look enhances the car’s visual width, adding a dash of sporty attitude to the full-size sedan. This continues into the updated rear end, where the 2020 Buick LaCrosse gains a new bumper and narrower taillights. There’s more chrome elements back here, plus twin exhaust outlets in the lower fascia.
Inside, the 2020 Buick LaCrosse incorporates the same cabin design as the pre-facelift, third-gen model. The Avenir trim level is draped in genuine leather upholstery, while high-quality fabric adorns the roof and pillars. A Bose surround sound system provides the tunes. Further customization options are available through the “customer-oriented” personalization service.
Under the hood, the 2020 Buick LaCrosse is equipped with an eighth-generation GM Ecotec engine package, specifically the turbocharged 2.0L LSY. Output is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, all of which is sent to the front wheels through GM’s new nine-speed automatic transmission. Further engine options include the new turbocharged 1.3L L3T engine, which produces 160 horsepower.
