The GMC Acadia is getting a mid-cycle update for the 2020 model year, with the refreshed midsize crossover SUV making its big debut this past February. Sitting at the top of the lineup is the 2020 Acadia Denali, which boasts the highest levels of equipment and features of the entire Acadia line. We recently captured a live photo gallery of the 2020 Acadia Denali at the 2019 New York International Auto Show, where it was strutting its stuff in a sleek shade of Ebony Twilight Metallic.
Compared to the pre-facelift 2017-2019 Acadia Denali, the 2020 Acadia Denali sports its most dramatic updates up front. Here you’ll find a new fascia that offers a more upright and rugged appearance thanks to a larger, more squared-off grille. Finished in polished metal, we think this new snout looks quite ominous and elegant against the black paint.
Flanking the new grille are reshaped headlights, which get the full-LED treatment as standard for the 2020 model year. The headlights also include a new set of C-shaped LED daytime running lights that change to amber when the turn signal is activated. The lower fascia is reshaped as well, curving upwards in the corners towards the outer edges.
The fresh fascia stands out for its squared styling, and helps to bring the Acadia’s exterior in line with other GMC model, including the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500, 2020 GMC Sierra HD, and the GMC Terrain.
Moving to the side, the 2020 Acadia Denali rolls on new wheels, with sizing up to 20 inches in diameter. The window line is enhanced by new sideview mirrors with an LED turn signal indicator. What’s more, the mirrors are power-folding – a feature that’s standard on the Denali trim level.
Out back, 2020 Acadia Denali receives new taillight clusters, once again with a C-shaped lighting graphics. The rear bumper was also redesigned, and now looks wider and lower than before.
The 2020 Acadia Denali will come standard with a hands-free power liftgate feature that projects the GMC logo onto the ground when opened. This is an upgrade over the non-projecting power liftgate found on the 2017, 2018 and 2019 model years of the Acadia.
All told, we think the 2020 Acadia Denali looks much improved compared to the pre-facelift 2017-2019 model year models, and should serve the midsize crossover well in the marketplace for years to come. Notably, the Acadia just posted its best-ever first-quarter sales performance.

Family just got a 2019, love the truck!
“Truck”
Nice try. Truck isn’t a proper noun though, so it doesn’t need to be capitalized.
The heck I did not type the above. Don’t impersonate people.
It’s not impersonating: it’s free speech!!
It’s not a truck: it’s a wagon copy to the subaru! Like i said earlier; this whatever is 2x’s the size to be a GMC typhoon look-a-like!!
A successful MCE with the 2020 Acadia. Styling now more inline with the rest of the brand and more truck like.
Too much grill but not that big of a deal. Like the new wheels.
Still uses 3.6L V6. I was hoping it will be a new tt V6 but still old corporate engine. Same story with XT6. So why would anyone get more expensive XT6 over Acadia Denali?
Not thrilled about the 230 HP 2.0T replacing the 310 HP 3.6 as the std engine on the costly Denali trim as that will be a reduction in power and maybe refinement. The 3.0TT would be a nice power option but as we all know GM doesn’t care about that and is more interested in playing forecast the future.
The standard engine was a 2.5L Four cylinder not the 3.6.
Well my Denali in 2017 stickered nearly $54K [I did not pay near that] .
Make the addition of the TT V6 and it would already raise the price higher than most would pay for this model. As it is the 3.6 is not under powered for the mission this vehicles serves as it is a family vehicle not a race car.
Now the XT5 and XT6 both would be better suited to have the TT and should have had them long ago as an option.
As it is I am getting 21 MPG city and 31.5 on the highway and we are not missing a thing power wise. I can easily spin the tires and pull out into traffic with out a problem.
GMC needs a full size HO V-6 Acadia XL that is same size as the Enclave and Traverse.
nice job impersonating.
The Arcadia is a truck, don’t believe the hate.
Escalade is truck based SUV, but Arcadia is a crossover.
Acadia, not Arcadia.
On a related note, I rode in a 2018 Acadia Denali (Lyft ride) and the interior was terrible. Like most GM vehicles, there are patches of nice materials, but they are lost in a sea of cheap, hard plastic. The fake wood was the worst I’ve ever seen. For nearly $50k, it felt no more luxurious than my Cruze Premier.
Arcadia must have a trucks frame underneath it. But still the Arcadia body shell is too big to be a copy to the GMC Typhoon as first thought!
Wow now it look better good job
The overall design is nice and substantial, but around back is a different story because of the Ford Explorer rear tail lights and the Kia Cadenza from 2015 SXL chrome bumper and exhaust pipes.
The new Explorer or the Durango brings up another concern.
The “adequate” and smooth engine under the Acadia’s hood is kind of expected in this class now. Where’s the uplevel engine option?
The Acadia does nothing for me.
The new model looks a little nicer, but the interior is still only slightly above average and the exterior has front wheel drive proportions and a very low stance.
GMC doesn’t make anything that appeals to me smaller than the Yukon.
Meh.
My Cadillac XT5 is coming off lease in 9 months and I believe it will be replaced with the Acadia Denali.
