Some 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX Owners To Be Reimbursed Over Headlights

Owners of 2010-2015 model year Cadillac SRX crossovers will be reimbursed for expenses they may have incurred making repairs to the vehicle’s headlights after a class action lawsuit was filed in 2017.
This class action proceeding is actually separate from the class action suit over the SRX’s headlights that was recently filed in Detroit. Unknown legal hurdles caused this class action suit to be thrown out in all states except for Florida and California.
Like the lawsuit filed in Detroit, this proceeding alleges the headlights on the 2010-2015 model year Cadillac SRX may have faulty weather seals that erode prematurely, allowing moisture to enter the headlight casing. This may cause the bulb to either dim or burn out entirely.
Owners have complained of dim headlights when driving to the point where some can not use their vehicles at night. The problem also returns once the headlights are repaired at dealers, causing owners to incur additional repair expenses. Furthermore, some Cadillac dealers have refused to fix the problem even when the vehicle in question is still under warranty.
According to Car Complaints, General Motors has now agreed to reimburse owners for any replaced headlamp capsules or lightbulbs, with a cap of up to $1,600 per replacement. The repairs must have been associated with problems caused by moisture and owners must initially pay out of pocket for the repairs.
However both the California/Florida and Detroit lawsuits claim that having the headlights repaired does little to fix the problem, as moisture will simply re-enter the headlight and the dimming issue will return. Car Complaints says SRX owners are routinely faced with bills of around $1,500 to fix the issue, while some have even faced repairs totalling more than $5,000.
The Detroit suit also says GM actively tried to cover up the Cadillac SRX headlight defect and continues to do so today.

I got my 2010 srx lights changed about a month ago , they were back ordered since march , The powers that be said no problem “YOU ARE IN THE SYSTEM”. I sent the paperwork return receipt requested and they stamped it so I know they got it. If they SCREW ALL OF US what is the recourse? THEY WERE THE ONES WHO SENT US THE RECALL.
Delwin, I just posted about this. My new headlamps came in AFTER the refund deadline (thank you, Covid). I sent in my paperwork anyway hoping there is an extension on the deadline. How do you know they “stamped it?” I’ve received no communication from them at all. Thank you.
When I sent it I sent it “return requested’ at the post office that way they had to verify they received it I got a form from the P O where they they stamped it ‘RECEIVED ANALYTICS” and the date
Has anyone received their reimbursement for their SRX headlight replacements? I sent in my paperwork and have received no reply or refund. I’m getting a feeling that another Cadillac will not be in my future. I’m rather sick about it, because it has such potential.
Finally received check this week for headlights.
When did you submit you paperwork? When were the headlights installed?
I sent my receipts for replacement of headlight assembly on my 2013 Cadillac SRX, I was told that I would get reinbursed for it in July it is now August 26, 2020 I haven’t seen or heard anything yet
My headlight on dim was on dim that I could not drive my car at night on my 2013 Cadillac SRX . I sent the receipt and was lead to believe that I would reinbursed in July but I have not received anything yet. It is now August 26, 2020
I just followed up with them and was told I would be reimbursed by first week of next month.
Here is the phone number

So, good news! I finally received my reimbursement check today, 8/31/20. The only problem, they subtracted out the $30 in shop supplies and the $106.12 in tax that the dealer charged to complete the headlamp replacement. I called the 888-305-1605 as instructed. After 25 minutes on hold an individual answered and told me that tax and shop supplies aren’t covered under “out of pocket costs!” Really??? This has been put through the review process for dispute, which takes another 30 days.
I had to replace both headlights on my 2011 Cadillac Srx. I submitted all my paper work for my claim but haven’t receive anything. Why is it taking long for response. Its very frustrating!
I agree. It’s disrespectful! See my comment below. Looks like we have a new date for checks!
CADILLAC/GM GAVE ME A BAD DEALLLLLL DO NOT SIGN A RELEASE AND EXPECT TO GET ANYtHING FROM THEM, especially if you bought the replacement parts and installed them yourself. The headlights on my 2010 SRX started dimming 2-3 years ago to the point I told my wife not to drive the car at night.. I went to several dealerships for diagnostics. They all said it would cost $1500+ to replace but would not guarantee that would fix the problem. I eventually bought the replacement lights through AMAZON and with the help of a friend replaced them over a several day period. ($290 out of pocket + incidentals) It was quite a job. I thought that was the end of it. Then I get this grand letter form GM promising to reimburse me up to $1600.00. I sent in the RELEASE & the documentation asking for $750.00 for my trouble. They refused to pay me anything. Claimed the VIN # was not tied to my AMAZON invoice (duhhhhh). I asked for my Release form back. They couldn’t do that. BUNCH OF CHEAPSKATES SELLING INFERIOR MERCHANDISE
I’ve called 6 times now starting in late July, first 3 attempts I was on hold for 20-30 mins and I received the same response each time “ your check is in the mail”. Finally on the 4th call I was told I would not be receiving a check, I would be receiving a letter saying they needed more info. I asked what info they needed, “associate” couldn’t give me any answers. Fifth call I was told that I would receive a letter stating that I didn’t use a proper dealership. Call 6, 8 days latter, still no letter, I was told it should be mailed sometime this week. Was also told that they may not reimburse me because I used a GM dealership and not a authorized Cadillac dealership. This entire thing is a dumpster fire. $1500 I’ll probably never get back.
Cadillac/GM has also stolen $2100 from me on the headlight recall. I received the letter from them in March about the recall. My headlights were in bad shape and needed replaced. I took my vehicle to the dealership as soon as I received the notice not realizing I had to upfront payment. Fast forward to today, 9/15, I have sent my claim information in several times both registered and certified mail. I have made numerous phone calls to them. They have lied continually. This is such a scam. We as consumers of their product has been taken advantage of. I will never purchase a Cadillac/Gm product again.
Have been waiting since March for reimbursement for Headlights on my 2012 srx 4 Called multiple times and no response from Cadillac, 1300 dollar expense out of pocket..I sent the paperwork including dealership Bill. Does any one have any suggestions .Phone .I was told that i can file in small claims court ,
whenever I have ever had a recall on anything . I never had to pay out of pocket, I should have been more leery going into this thing. My caddy is 10 years old now, guess what I won’t be buying next time.
I sent all document 5 weeks ago and not hear back anything. I am calling them by phone and waiting on the line 30 minutes per a dat but no RESPONSE…! What a great service!!! I sent e-mail them also 2-3 times per a day and not any response too.
I just called and heard the VERY lengthy recorded message. If you mailed in the reimbursement documentation during the month of July, your reimbursement will be mailed out in mid-October.
That date has moved from the end of August, to mid-September, and NOW mid-October. What is going on? If they want us to buy Cadillacs again, they’d better treat us with more respect. Disappointed!
Been waiting for replacement lights for my 2015 SRX. They still are not producing them and won’t be for another couple weeks. Then I find out GM will not cover the replacement cost at all because the litigation has been finalized. I now have to pay $1600 to have them replaced if and when they come in. It’s terrible knowing you pay $50k for a car and it doesn’t have lights that work and I’ve had to have the Q screen replaced twice.
I finally heard from administrator. Because I didn’t do this at a Cadillac dealer my claim was denied. The language in the initial letter is vague on this. My cost was $1124 , but Cadillac wanted 2500. Since I had to shell out I had my mechanic do it. Very unfair and customer service at both administrator and Cadillac is very poor. Need to be a recall as it was not safe to drive prior. Thankfully now is fixed. To those of you still with the problem just buy the headlights on eBay. The unbranded is fine and have local garage put in. Save lots of money
I only need one headlight that’s good to know because I purchased this car in June still paying car notes and can’t drive at night
I have resubmitted my claim and followed up. While my claim is in good standing, there is insufficient funding from GM to proceed with my check. GM at its best, right Mary Barra?

I just did my 2015 Cadillac SRX, bout the two pair of head lights on amazon for $379.97, they look great, better than the original, now I can see the road . The dealer want $2500 to fix the problem and have to pay from my package , no way.
Did they come with halogen, HID or LED lamps? Are they still working? Thanks
