Chevrolet Discounts Trax By Over 20% In April 2019

Chevrolet Trax sales increased 16 percent to 22,378 units in the fourth quarter of 2018 – a healthy growth rate, but one that lags the segment’s 37 percent expansion during the same timeframe. Meanwhile, the auto industry is expected to have its worst-performing first quarter since Q1 2014.

So, in what could be a way to both sway potential customers and keep pace in the increasingly-competitive subcompact crossover SUV segment, a new Chevrolet discount reduces the price of select Trax models by over 20 percent in April 2019, which equates to nearly $6,000 in some cases.

Incentives

Nationwide Chevrolet discounts on the Trax for April 2019 are as follows:

  • Rebate offer: 20 percent below MSRP for current competitive owners when financing with GM Financial
    • Example: $4,971 purchase cash + $748 price reduction below MSRP = $5,719
  • Finance offer: $750 customer cash when financing with GM Financial + $2,000 customer cash = $2,750 total cash allowance

For reference, here are the applicable 2019 Trax trim levels and their corresponding starting MSRPs:

  • LS – $22,295
  • LT – $24,195
  • Premier – $28,595

The 20 percent Chevrolet discount as it applies to an in-stock 2019 Trax Premier model with an MSRP of $28,595 brings the starting price of said model to just $22,876, which is almost as affordable as a regularly priced 2019 Trax LS. Meanwhile, the $2,750 Chevrolet discount brings the starting price of the 2019 Trax LS to just $18,545.

About Chevrolet Trax

The Chevrolet Trax is a subcompact crossover utility vehicle. It slots below the Equinox as Chevrolet's smallest CUV and rides on the GM Gamma 2 platform shared with the Chevrolet Sonic/Aveo and Buick Encore. The model was Chevrolet's first offering in the subcompact (B segment) crossover space and the second (after the Nissan Juke) to launch in its segment in the U.S. market.

Having launched for the 2015 model year in the U.S., the Trax received a refresh for the 2017 model year that consisted of all-new front and rear fascias, the replacement of the LTZ trim by the new range-topping Premier model, revised interior, a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and more.

The 2018 Chevy Trax represents the fourth model year of the first-generation Trax and receives several changes including three new exterior colors, a new Trax Redline Edition model, and several equipment-level changes. The 2019 Trax got three new exterior colors and a new Premier badge on the tailgate. The 2020 model is expected to be the last model year of the current, first-generation Trax before an all-new, second-generation model arrives.

The Trax, which is called the Chevrolet Tracker in some markets like South America, Russia and the CIS, is built at the following GM plants:

  1. Everyday seems like massive discounts are announced on yet more GM vehicles. This coupled with all the plant closures and firings definitely shows things are not looking good for the General.

  2. These discount/ rebates are worrisome. No wonder GM’s stock isn’t anywhere near close to the Dow average gains in the last few years and people are losing interest in GM products as a whole. How long will senior management make excuses and try to cover up the mess they made? The competition is not in the kind of mess GM is right now.

  3. This discount program infuriates me. Why should I, a long-time GM customer, not get the best deals from GM? They offer their best deals to owners of competing products. Odd. Although it might secure a sale, it certainly won’t buy customer loyalty.
