Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette Among Most Instagrammed Cars

Instagram is fast becoming the go-to social media portal for those looking to stay connected without those wild conspiracy theories from your uncle. Yes, Facebook owns it, but it feels far less intrusive, at least to some. It’s also the go-to place if you’re looking for sweet pics of even sweeter rides. Car enthusiast across the globe post millions of photos of various automobiles – from tried-and-true daily drivers to super-exclusive hypercars that could make one a tad envious. But in the world of the most Instagrammed cars, there are only a handful of winners – and that list includes the Chevrolet Camaro and Chevrolet Corvette.

Data gathered by Veygo Magazine shows the Ford Mustang is the most Instagrammed car in the world with nearly 12 million hashtags on the platform. However, Chevrolet isn’t far behind. The Camaro ranked sixth with almost 4.7 million hashtags on the platform, while the Corvette placed seventh with 3.9 million hashtags. Other top Instagrammed cars include the Honda Civic with 7.4 million hashtags, Nissan GT-R with 7 million mentions, BMW M3 with 5.8 million, and Jeep Wrangler with 5.1 million.

Veygo Magazine methodology looked at the two most popular hashtags for each vehicle and combined the two to reach the total number of hashtag mentions. The magazine only looked at vehicles currently in production, and it had to exclude some vague hashtags like #golf due it having multiple conflicting results, which makes sense – since the golf hashtag might refer to the sport or to Volkswagen’s popular hatchback.

We should note that the methodology is far from scientific, but it is interesting data, nonetheless. It shows the enduring love for the automobile and how it has translated over to new social media platforms, too. Maybe the kids aren’t so anti-car as many have suggested. And if nothing else, it makes for some decent bragging rights, too.
