2019 Chevrolet Silverado RST Regular Cab, Trail Boss Regular Cab Debut

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado RST Regular Cab and Trail Boss Regular Cab, which are exclusive to the Middle East, have made their official debut before going on sale this summer.

These trucks give us our first official look at the 2019 Silverado Regular Cab in a trim other than the entry-level work truck. Respectively, they have all the same features of the U.S.-spec Silverado RST and Trail Boss, only with two fewer doors.

Regular cab trucks have become less and less popular with American truck buyers in recent years, and while there is still a small contingent of two-door truck fans, most Silverado buyers would rather have a set of rear seats. There’s still enough of a market for these trucks in the Middle East it seems, though, where a truck is viewed as a more specialized product than in the U.S.

The four-door 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Quad Cab and Crew Cab are already available to order in the Middle East and are offered with all five engine and transmission options in the region, including the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter Small Block V8s.

“The Chevrolet Silverado is a regional icon and the 2019 line-up brings further improvements to what is one of the most consummate full-size pickup trucks on the market today,” said Chevrolet Middle East brand boss, Ahmed Soudodi. “Our year-on-year success is in no small part due to our loyal and growing regional customer base which we keep at the heart of our business, and so being able to offer to them through the Silverado Trail Boss and RST trims exclusively available for the Middle East makes us very excited.”

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado starts at AED 106,800 in the region for the Regular Cab 2WD work truck, which is roughly equivalent to $29,075 USD. Pricing for the Silverado RST Regular Cab and Trail Boss Regular Cab models has not yet been announced.

  2. I thought they weren’t offering a regular cab short box.

    1. Sadly, no offer for the US Market, only Long Box as we all know; at some point hopefully, they’ll come to their senses and put that option back on the Assembly Line here for the US Market.

  5. This REALLY torques my wrench!! So GM can manufacture and export RCSB Chevys to the Middle East, but those of us that want these trucks, here in America are screwed. If they can justify the cost of making it and shipping it overseas, they can justify giving us a few copies. That Trail Boss RCSB is want this guy wants. Not a $70K High Country Crew Cab! Damn you, GM!

      1. Add in the “Greed For Profit” as well when it comes to the Double and Crew Cab Models, I understand the need for 4 Door trucks are surging when it comes to meeting the needs of a family who may not want an SUV, but come on GM, the “Power Of Choice” to fit the needs of every customer whether Single or Married should always be at the forefront for ongoing Customer Satisfaction.

  6. I love how Chevrolet’s ad campaign is based on “offering more choice” when they have less configurations to choose from. I guess it’s only 25 years before I can lawfully import one.

  7. Why the he!! Aren’t they available in US?! We are a lot closer to Mexico than Middle East is. Dang Mary Barra and he flunkies.

  8. Should be offered to those of us who are still in the market for this type of real truck

  9. Is Chevrolet allowing those in the Middle East to get trucks with regular cab, standard box (6.5 ft) and the 6.2L? Then that is stupid of them to not allow me to get one here in the states.

    Reply
    1. Only getting the old 5.3L with 6-speed in single cab form. The crew cab will get the 8-speed with the new 5.3L. Not sure yet if the region will get the Siverado with the 6.2L.

  11. I just talked to a guy in a dealership in the middle east and he told me it’s going to be the 5.3 engine only as always on regular cabs, by the way guys the demand here in the middle east for the regular cab and short bed is so high

    1. It makes sense to offer it there. I thought they weren’t making the regular cab 6.5 ft box at all to save money but they’re clearly building the truck it’s just foolish to not offer it here as well.

  12. So typical. Where is all this choice you guys are talking about? GM yet again gives buyers that want a regular cab pickup in anything other than one cheap trim level another reason to shop the competition. This company is so full of product holes it’s almost comical.

  13. Give me a regular cab short wide bed with the 6.2. I’ll buy it tomorrow.

Instead of writing FCA to build the Jeep J6 , I’m asking Mary and the boys to build and sell to the U.S. this RCSB Trail Boss! Carbon footprint crap be damned!!
This truck is very good looking! Makes me forget the interior and ugly front end!!

  16. Next GM will say ‘regular cabs don’t sell in U.S. so only more expensive dual and crew cabs only’. Another case of being told what I should buy and drive. The nerve to build these trucks and not offer to all markets is BS.

  17. I admit the RCSB is very cool and the TB model looks great. My first car was an ’82 RCSB 4×4 which I loved.

I also admit I would never buy another one. The singe cab is so impractical it in my mind it would just be a toy. I don’t have enough expendable cash to waste money on a toy unfortunately.

  18. A new RCSB Silverado with a covered and cloth rear area would make an awesome K5 Blazer. It would be insulting if that’s what’s offered in the ME along with this truck and the 4-door T1-SUVs

  19. My next Sport Truck will be the Ram RT – RCSB when it becomes available with the 392 and 3.91 gears. I bought my last GM product in 2016 and when it gives up the ghost I’m hanging sign on it and walking away from the brand forever.

    Reply
  20. I think GM would be surprised at the sales this would get if priced correctly and the idea of a “K5” type vehicle like this would be icing on the cake!
They WOULD sell, there IS a market, it’s just not where GM want’s it to sustain a 22 million dollar CEO salary. Come on GM!! Build something fun that will bring positive attention back to the brand! How could something called “Trail Boss” not succeed as a short wheel base off -roader?

  21. If a truck buyer wants a rcsb that is what they’ll buy. They will find the truck that best fits they’re needs regardless of brand. Brand loyalty goes both ways.

  22. I think it is a bunch of BS and all we get here in the US is new junk but if you’re love dodge or Ford then you get your money’s worth even if it is a high price but you get power from a hell cat or a cobra . I love Chevy but then why do I feel betrayed

This says it all. Want a successful business and loyal customers? Keep your customers wants and needs at the heart of your business. These days GM gives its customers what it wants to give them, not what the customers ask for. It’s inexcusable to refuse to give American customers the choice of a LT Trail Boss in a regular cab config, just like it’s inexcusable to not offer multiple axle ratios, the option of a 10-speed outside of an LTZ/HC trim, the option of the 6.2 in a sub-LTZ trim, a 33″ tire from the factory on a Trail Boss that is clearly designed to easily accommodate a 33″ tire, etc.

GM claimed they heard its customers that demanded more choice.
Instead of giving us more choices, they gave us LESS choice than ever.
Want the numerically highest axle ratio possible? GM says you can get 3.42’s, but only in a max tow package. But if you choose a max tow package, you can’t have the offroad packages. You also can’t choose to have a 2-speed transfer case with the max tow package… unless you pay for a top level trim with the 6.2 and 10-speed.

Want an LT Trail Boss? GM says okay but only with a 3.23 axle ratio. 3.24’s are no allowed with a Trail Boss or even Z71 package.

Want a Custom Trail Boss? GM says okay, but only with the 40/20/40 seats and the center arm rest will not have a storage bin. Since the Custom trim only offers a 6L80 you would think that GM would have an axle ratio appropriate for a truck designed to have large aggressive offroad tires. Nope. No 3.73’s available. 3.42’s only. The new knob that allows you to select different driving modes (offroad, sport, etc) is also missing and the DIC display is so old and outdated that it looks like the DIC display from a 2008 Silverado.

And they wonder why they’re getting the response from customers that they are. They promised more choice and they gave LESS.

  24. It is even more frustrating for Mexico customers. The truck is made in Mexico and the only version of regular cab being sold is the Silverado WT trim level, short box, V6 engine only, 4×2 & 4×4.
However Mexico customers can shop in the GMC dealerships for a GMC Sierra Regular Cab Short Box with the 5.3L with the 6 speed auto. 4×4 is the only configuration with a 3.42 ratio.
Cloth seats only. But every other option is standard: HD radio, HD rear view camera, spray on bed liner, etc.
At the current exchange rate the price tag is $41,000 USD, tax included.

  25. This Regular Cab in Mexico even comes with more color options than what we would get here in the US, it’s like WTF is going on with the mindset of management up here at GM as they would assume that no one would buy a truck in this configuration anymore, there is still fan fare here and I’m one of them.

  26. I have been driving a RCSB for years. Used to drive the Step Side when available. Also used to drive the two door K5 when GM made trucks people really wanted. I do understand what sells drives the build decisions, but it would be nice to have access to a truck they are building and shipping it to another country. At least give the US market an option to buy for a US delivery. I guess owning Chevy trucks for the last 50+ years doesn’t matter. What about servicing the US market?

  27. I will be looking for a Single Cab, Short box truck next year. My son is turning 16 next year and I’m giving him my little commuter car. I want a FUN to drive pickup again. I had a 2001 Single Cab R/T Dakota 10 years ago and it was a BLAST to drive daily ! It hauled butt on the street. I want GM to bring these single cab short box trucks to the US market so I can buy one for my daily commuter. Bring the Chevy or GMC short box truck to the US please !

I hear that Ram will also be bringing out a Regular cab Short box truck. I may be buying a RAM if GM does not offer the regular cabs here.

  34. I to am very disappointed at this decision. I drove 200 miles to get my short bed 2018 4X4 Lt fully loaded!!! Super happy with it an I am covered for the next 5 years but, I may have to keep it forever if you can no longer buy a short bed 2 door. Their was a shortage in 2018 as well. I’m glad I got one before this happened. I believe I paid $38,500 out the door. I’d do it again to! Who want to lug around two extra doors a seat and carpet? A truck with 4 doors screams I am married with kids! Nah they can stay at the dealership and not sell them. I’ll buy a short bed all day long!

    1. Amen-Again! I’ve mentioned this several times. GM HAS to listen! The competition is nipping away, a bit at time. GM needs to listen to it’s base customers. Bring the SWB Reg. Cab back here, like it should be. That’s all I’ve owned since my first one in 1976. Then, we need to get them to make SOMETHING with a solid axle option. Just sayin’
