This 1984 Chevrolet Caprice for sale on eBay looks as though it has just come off the lot. Aside from being in immaculate condition, it has yet to hit the 10,000-mile mark. What’s more, the car has been in one family since it was purchased new, and it’s not hard to see that they really maintained the car, both inside and out.
This brown-on-brown Caprice sedan has just 8,259 original miles on its odometer and is being sold for $12,900. The vehicle was garage-kept its entire life, looks good, and runs like a charm. It’s powered by GM’s 5.0 liter (305 cu. in.) V8 with 4-barrel carburetor mated to an automatic 4-speed transmission with overdrive. Even the engine bay is in pristine condition!
The front seat is a 50/50 split bench front seat with pull-down armrests, something that some should appreciate given the lack of such cars today. Other notable features include cruise control, AM/FM stereo radio, and air conditioning. The windows and door locks, however, work manually. The advertisement states that the interior smells like new, which is likely in part due to the fact that the vehicle has never been smoked in.
The gauges are analog, as is the clock on the dash. There’s also a sticker of a saint on the passenger-side, just to the right of the radio.
The vehicle report for this car also checks out and has no reported accidents. See more images of this 1984 Chevrolet Caprice in the gallery below. For more information and vehicle details, you can view the original eBay ad here.Â

The numbers on the odometer are not in line, indicating it could have been altered.
1984 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Only Has 8K Miles is not true.. Odometer numbers are not lined up therefor it has over 108,000 miles know because my 84 CC diesel did the same thing and that’s how dealerships as well as mechanics know the mileage is over 100,000 or been tampered with..
My mother owned this same car – it was a piece of junk. Transmission rebuilt 3x and would lurch ALOT when you put it in gear so much that it bashed into our garage wall. Its one of the typical US terrible designs that led me to Honda.
Maybe you just got a lemon, I’ve had mine for ages and it still runs like a dream, 289k miles, never had to do anything other than normal mantiance and 1 trans rebuild, but 260k on one trans and I’m more than happy to rebuild it.
LOL yeah because Honda has never had any transmission problems right?
So since you got lead to Honda, why aren’t you on a website dedicated to their appliances instead of posting drivel here?
I assume everybody who thumb’ed down my factual experience with this car also owned this vehicle and had the opposite experience -or- your saying Detroit was doing it’s best work at this time. It’s been a long time since 1984 and I drive quite a few brands now from Jeep to Buick to Honda. Whether you will admit it or not, IMO Honda was far superior quality in the 80’s. Thankfully for GM and US manufacturers, that has changed. So I guess only GM fanboys allowed on GMA ? 🙂
It’s a good looking car for its age.
that “saint” is supposed to be Jesus Christ …
Full sized RWD full frame sedan. Great vehicle for local or taking long trips. Was a quiet vehicle, especially on a concrete highway, in the rain. Not many vehicles are, except body on frame types.
Could take a pounding and last 300,000 miles.
How much would you sell it for ??
These were great cars. Neighbors had a 1983 of this exact car in two tone blue that had well over 200K and still ran good. We sold this exact same year and color car 10 years ago with over 100K with a beautiful body and interior for 3995! This is when cars had real interior room, large trunks, smooth quiet rides on all road surfaces, could be optioned just about any way, had 4-5 interior color choices and could be easily worked on in your own driveway. My pick would be a 1987-90 Caprice with the more powerful 170 horse version of the 305 with F-41 suspension, gauge pkg and the deluxe split seats like this car has.
You had choices in that era. You could order leather, upgraded Delco sound systems, interior colors that complimented the exterior and your personal taste, engine options that ranged from a bullet proof six cylinder, to your choice of proven V-8 power plants, along with suspension and rear end choices, tire and wheel options, and many other ways to personalize your GM purchase. Now, your interior color pick, comes down to grey, tan or black. Oh yes, this model, was also available in a stylish, two door coupe…
I also, had the opportunity to drive several GM automobiles from the mid 70’s to the latter 80’s, thanks to my employment furnishing well optioned, full size GM product, including Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and a couple of Buick’s…all of which were wonderful performing, comfortable, very dependable automobiles. By the way, are these GM posters available for purchase??
I have a 73 Caprice Classic my father bought new, when he passed my wife bought it and I still have it, 40,000 miles. Does need new exhaust. 400 2-bbl.
I want to like it, but I don’t. It’s just a typical down-sized B-body GM car. Nothing remarkable, not stylish, pure mediocrity when new, and even more unremarkable now as a “old car”. No power, no stand out details, out of touch styling and design for the times, and – having driven a few – completely lacking in any character.
However these cars are resilient if not reliable, and parts are plentiful and cheap. In a word it’s…just a car. Has wheels body engine and doors and will get you were you want with little fuss in general comfort.
Of the down-sized B-bodies the only one that even slightly appealed to me was the 1977-1979 Caprice Classic Landau Coupe and it’s twin the Impala Sport Coupe. Both had a neat wrap around rear window that only lasted till 79, then the more formal roof became standard in 1980.
I kinda wish they would all just go away. Hardly as interesting to look at as the 76 -1970 full size, super barges or 60s-50s “classic” GM offerings. They only seem to be desirable to the “donk” crowd.
I hope this one avoids that fate.
Would you happen to have the service identification sticker? On this car still? I have the same color vehicle and same year and I can’t find my sticker to get the paint code.. would be awesome if you could help! Thanks !
