The 2019 Silverado 1500 launch is nearing completion, as retail availability of the all-new full-size pickup continues to increase and as more body styles and powertrains go into production. After boosting the incentive on the 2019 Silverado mid-January to coincide with its national marketing launch, Chevrolet is now discounting select models of the all-new pickup truck by over $9,000.
The Incentives
Nationwide Chevrolet discounts on the all-new 2019 Silverado on the T1 platform for March 2019 are as follows:
- 2019 Silverado Crew Cab LT with All Star and Z71 packages:

About Chevrolet Silverado
The Chevrolet Silverado is a lineup of full-size pickup trucks sold primarily in North America, but also in the Middle East and in certain markets in South America. Slotting above the mid-size Chevrolet Colorado (known as the S10 in some markets), the Silverado is Chevrolet's largest pickup truck and currently consists of the 1500 light duty model, two Heavy Duty models - the 2500HD and 3500HD, as well as Conventional Class 4, Class 5 and Class 6 Medium Duty models - the Silverado 4500HD and Silverado 5500HD and Silverado 6500HD.
The 2018 Chevy Silverado represents the fifth model year of the third-generation Silverado. It is based on the GM K2 platform shared with other full-size pickup trucks and SUVs from GM. Though the line sold relatively well, it became less competitive in the marketplace with time when compared to its primary Ford F-Series rival, due to lacking cutting-edge features such as turbocharged engines, a rugged off-road variant such as the Ford F-150 Raptor, a diesel engine option in the light duty (1500) model, and also various modern features and equipment.

Luckily, an all-new Silverado arrived for the 2019 model year that addresses many of the issues of its predecessor model. Customers began taking delivery of the all-new truck in the second half of August 2018.
Chevrolet says that the all-new 2019 Silverado is the result of over 7,000 customer interviews - the most intensive research in its history. The new model uses higher grade alloy steel in the bed floor as well as various mixed materials that result in a reduction in weight and improved performance, with weight falling about 450 pounds. The truck also offers an expanded amount of models for a total of eight, including the new 2019 Silverado Trailboss.
Riding on GM's new T1 platform shared with other future GM full-size trucks and SUVs, the 2019 Silverado offers more technology, convenience features, and engine/transmission combinations. While details of five powertrain combos have already been revealed, GM has not yet shared details of the new inline-six 3.0L Duramax Diesel engine, only stating that it will be "best-performing" and that it will be mated to GM's new 10-speed transmission.
Notably, the outgoing, Chevy will continue manufacturing and selling the outgoing, K2 generation Silverado alongside the all-new model for a limited amount of time in limited configurations.
Having overhauled the Silverado 1500, Chevy will next overhaul the Silverado Heavy Duty. The brand released a teaser image of the upcoming all-new 2020 Silverado HD in April 2018 and announced the vehicle in November 2018. The truck will launch in the 2019 calendar year as a 2020 model.
The 2020 Silverado HD will be comprised of the Silverado 2500HD and Silverado 3500HD that ride on a more robust and capable version of the new T1 platform when compared to the 2019 Silverado 1500, while sharing many high-tech features and design elements with its light duty brother.
Completing the overhauled Silverado family is the 2019 Silverado Medium Duty series, comprised of the Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD.
The Chevrolet Silverado is built at the following GM plants:
- GM Flint Assembly in Flint, Michigan, USA
- GM Fort Wayne Assembly in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
- GM Oshawa Assembly  in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
- GM Silao in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico
- Navistar Springfield Assembly in Springfield, Ohio, USA (Silverado Medium Duty only)

Considering how terrible it looks, they may need to discount it more than that.
The outside I can live with, but that interior screams “Cheap.” The base powertrain definitely leaves a lot to be desired.
Everybody ready for the BIG day… Tuesday?
Get your popcorn and Enjoy the Show!
Discounting a brand new vehicle $9,000!!!!!?????!!!!!????
GM is definitely in meltdown mode under Mary Barra. The stock is now really starting to show this.
Remember when GM Insider said a few weeks ago on here that it was about to get worse? He/ she wasn’t lying.
Stock is down nearly 10% in last 30 days. Is the market taking notice that the cash cow isn’t producing and maybe going on the life support we call incentives??
Not to get political, but since the market rally following the 2016 election, the Dow is up by 1/3, while GM is up by 1/20th. Ford is a net negative over that same period, while FCA has more than doubled their value (more than tripled at one point).
Yes, the Dow has record after record since Trump took office. FCA has been a great stock and now investing billions in Michigan once again. Meanwhile GM stock hasn’t kept pace with the stock market and has been falling fast recently.
Things don’t look good for GM under Mary Barra.
Does anyone know any custom shops that would seriously redo an interior? I don’t mean someone who would just install a leather seating kit. I mean someone who can take a cabin like the one pictured, with “bench’ seat rather than buckets and console, and push the central column of the dash back so that it does not suck up the room for the knees of a passenger sitting in the middle up front. I understand why GM does not offer that – they have a bench seat but their hearts are not really into it and they want to have people upgrade. Enough people do so there is no incentive to make the cabin more spacious. But I would pay a lot to not have to drive around angry at the design, throughout the time I own one.
And right here in my morning paper are Rams $10k to over $14k off.
The prices are really low as they have the Ram Big Horn Crew 4×4 is $33,599.
Chevy only has a Colorado that cheap.
This really kills the resale on the Rams.
Junk is junk… ugly junk is worse, brand new ugly junk with the same cheap arss interior from 6 yrs ago is worse yet!!
Hate to be that guy but I believe I told everyone here that the Silverado would need help selling. GM really you know what the bed. These are the cash cows for the entire company and they offered up a joke of an interior. The Ram makes the GM twin interiors look like they’re two to three Generations behind. GM needs a redo in the interior ASAP!!!
Also, get rid of the 4.3 and place the 3.6TT in its place.
No scenario where a 3.6TT will EVER replace a 4.3. The 3.6TT is more costly to produce, and provides less performance AND economy than a 6.2.
So GM only cares about the cost? How about you give good reasons for customers to chose your vehicle over the competition?
Interiors like Ford’s T…any color you want, as long as it’s black.
i see tons of rams on the road,, noooo silverados, gona be ford ram chevy !! chevy interior cheezy
You’re right. I’ve seen plenty of 2019 Rams on the road, 1 new Silverado that turned out to be a dealership truck, and not even any new Sierras, which are nice looking.
Sierras do look nice. But they have only 3 “upgrades” compared to the previous generation: 10 speed automatic, push button start, and a really cool tailgate. I’m not recognizing the 4 cylinder turbo as an improvement based on real world reports, and the diesel still isn’t available or even spec’d. In this era, that doesn’t cut it. And seemingly no efforts to address the shortcomings of the previous generation.
And this is what resting on your laurels brings.
Old laurels…my two K2xx’s are hardly anything to rest on. GM has screwed up. Without SEVERE incentives, they will be #3 in pickups within 18 months. These new trucks are NOT competitive with the current Ford or Ram. Price will be their only option for leading sales – not styling, not features, not tech, not reliability, not capacity.
Could not have said it better myself.
Exterior Design is fine on both models but those interiors are PURE GARBAGE in today’s marketplace. Economy vehicles offer better materials and Tech. What was GM thinking.
Ram really nailed GM on these. People need to get fired for this HUGE lackluster of an attempt on the companies Cash Cows.
Mary Barra and her inflated millions in salary and stock options needs to go first.
Seems like they killed the goose that lays the golden egg?
General Motors doesn’t seem to understand that that a vehicle (truck in this particular case) that costs in excess of $50,000 dollars (or more) should have an interior that looks like it belongs in a $50k vehicle. At these asking prices, the interiors should be on par with those offered by Cadillac at that price level.
Exactly.
GM only did clinics with GM owners. Ram went out and asked Luxury Vehicle owners what they wanted in Truck to give up their Sedans or CUV’s. Ram hit a Grand Slam.
We think it is bad now for GM, just wait until the new F-150 comes out. You guys think Ford will make the same mistake in offering up Dull interior to its customers like GM has?
We GM fans are in serious trouble. Meaning GM is in serious trouble. They better have a plan to fix this and fix it ASAP. The engines are not what most people today want. The interior is not what most people are looking for.
I work in an office that has zero reasons in which any of us should be driving trucks let alone full size ones.
Do you know that almost half of our parking lot is indeed Full sized pickup trucks.
How could GM really not understand that the pickup replaced Sedans, CUV’s and whatever else people were driving. Ram unfortunately did and they are selling like Hot Cakes!!!
It’s worrisome that a just-minted and new generation Chevy pickup needs steep incentives to move them. With the current craze surrounding pickups you’d expect them to be flying off the lots and three-shift production lines running at Fort Wayne and Flint.
And Silao, Mexico, too? Interesting that of all the full size trucks sold in the US, only the GM hlaf-ton crew cabs aren’t made in America.
Need to get that Mexican plant moved to the U.S. fast. And the GM truck interiors fixed even faster.
GM “needs” to do a lot of things. Your two items should be near the top of GM’s to-do list. I doubt either are on it, much less near the top. Boys and girls, you’re watching Sears/K-Mart in the automotive world. Sell-off profit-generating brands to get operating cash (GMAC for GM, Craftsman for Sears), reduce footprint (Olds, Pontiac, Saab, Hummer, Saturn for GM, close 100’s of stores for Sears/K-Mart), pull-back on CapX (5 years ago for Sears/K-mart, coming soon to GM – unless, of course, it’s a battery powered car).
With the recent front offset crash test results, they’ll need to knock the price down constantly to move these things. Not only are they ugly along with that dated interior out of the gate, they’re not as safe as Ford or Ram, either
I had a buddy back in the days of my youth order a brand new 1976 Chevy C10 pick up. I went with him to the dealer when he ordered it. 350 4spd Camper Special and a lot of goodies. He couldn’t decide on the main trim package and it made a huge difference, especially for the interior: Custom Deluxe, Cheyenne, or Silverado? It was a big jump, but he picked the Silverado.
When I look at the new Chevy pick up, I think “Cheyenne”. At these asking prices, it should shout “Silverado”. The interior is where you live and spend all your time. Simple fix.
Gerard
That’s a dang good point you make there! Even the High Country is LT grade leather that’s just a different color. Nothing is premium about the higher trim levels on this Chevy and the lower trim levels are too limited in option choices to be made livable for anything other than a work truck.
Great point you make! There’s not been a “Silverado” in years!
Chevy Guy: Thank you. Re: “no Silverado in years… ” Understood and agree. But “Silverado” immediately identified the top-level trim for years and I always thought it was genius when Chevrolet chose that name for their full-size line: Immediate identification of what that name represented: Like “Eldorado”, “Riviera”, “Monte Carlo”, “Caprice”: Pinnacle.
